Prophylactic is used for preemptive prevention of disease. I can sort of see how it could be used here, but it's perhaps a little too avant-garde.

Intension is not the same thing as intention or intent.

Semicolons separate complete sentences that are only related in meaning.

I dunno if it's just me, but I couldn't seem to access the tabs for the various Alliance players.

Just so y'all know. Overall, the article was good, even if some of the words didn't quite fit.

Prophylaxis is actually a really great description for a lot of Alliance play.

In chess, prophylaxis is the sort of play that is based around understanding your opponents intentions and frustrating them.

They understand very well the weaknesses of their strategies and do a very good job of covering for those by understanding what heroes and approaches can stop their engine coming online and always directing their decisions towards preventing that.

This is why so many of their games just go smoothly with Alliance crushing seemingly effortlessly. The effort is all in the planning.

I actually had chess in mind when I used the term

when alliance started losing after ti3 it was due to heavy focus on s4 ganks and deathball push strategies ganging up early on. also utilizing smokes really well as sentries no longer detected seemed to work wonders. I would ban chen/puck or chen/profit, pick a really resilient 1 pos that doesn't need babysitting vs bulldog, get ganks on s4 and then start pushing early with good pushers.

They're still the best team when it comes to controlling the map and making effective use of their resources. Yes, even above PPD's team, I feel, and certainly any other team. When Alliance wins, they usually win by out farming the opponent and then setting up a successful team fight at a solid time for their line up. They are patient, they don't force fights, and they are very skilled at both pushing and retreating.

To win Alliance, you need to be able to farm as fast as they do, else you have to shut them down so hard in the early game they don't see any of the map. The latter is very difficult to do because Alliance is excellent at out farming in the early game and they usually end up with an advantage. Find out why that is the case, and then you find out how to play Alliance.

Shutting them down is easier than most people think tbh.

They are a very emotional team; Bulldog is easy to tilt of late from his stream, S4's performance at ti 5 proved it, one of my fave photo's of loda is him shouting at his screen vs. orange (TI3) after he had died.

Basically, just overwhelming aggression in the laning phase. Constant kills, go russian on them.

Every game alliance loses i watch, its either overwhelming aggression in the laning phase or an unfortunate pick off later, or a disastrous team fight.

Funny how this also describes every Alliance win. It's either them playing overwhelming agression, a fortunate pickoff or winning a well coordinated teamfight (add basetrade and I think you managed to nail every victory in DOTA)... just saying

Destroying Alliance in the early game is very difficult to do, because they pick heroes that usually do very well early on, while still being solid 30 to 60 minutes in. Indeed, one could argue that the availability of such heroes is what allows Alliance to rise in the first place.
