I personally think one of the main problems is travel and jet lag. That shit can knock you out for a week and the fact that players are dealing with it so much has to be effecting them. And staying in hotels all the time also sucks a lot. Its part of the job, but at some point players are just going to burn out on that shit. But we are seeing the first stage of correcting the issue with EG pulling out of Starladder. More teams just need to start doing that and their managers really thinking about the travel and what it will do for their practice.

My take on Starladder is that it has always been a "ladder" for star players. I think they just need to emphasize the Ladder part, ramp up the prize pool to 500k(not impossible) and fix their scheduling. If Arteezy or EE or anyone else don't wanna play, then don't.

If there is enough viewership to support the tournaments, they'll stick around. If people and players begin being selective the number of tournaments will drop naturally and will settle at whatever the viewership supports. There isn't too many tournaments as long as there are enough viewers and money to support that number of tournaments. Sure the hype might be ruined and you'll see match-ups multiple times, but somehow that hasn't killed or ruined the viewership yet, there are still plenty of viewers. We'll continue to have the number of tournaments we have as long as the scene can support it in regards to viewership and money unless the players start being selective.

Players and viewers have to be selective, if the dota2 pros keep acting like spoiled divas, trying to play in every single fucking tournament that gets produced and then just dropping out in the middle of the tournament we'll probably see a decline of tournaments for a very different reason, because people don't want to watch anymore. The players have the power to fix a huge part of this problem, but they don't, they will gladly whine about it though. If C9 and EG feel that there should only be half as many tournaments, then only sign up for half as many tournaments, voila i just fixed their problem for them in regards to too much travelling and too many officials. I mean they drop out of half the tournaments after playing the first half of the games in the online qualifier anyway(hyperbole) so it wouldn't make a damn difference in the end in regards to prize money either.
