your items where ok, everything that is refreshed by your ultimate is fine. altough you can mb go for a ghostscepter when you have problems with carrier that focus you down very quickly.
Yeah, i was kind of shocked too. Technically, I had a carry in the second one, but it was sniper than went vangaurd/other random stupidity, so he doesn't count. I was thinking maybe lvl 5 dagon + push stick might be ok too, since I'm faster than most heroes with BoT, and just need a litte separation. I'm not sure about dagon mana needs, but sheepstick + dagon + q then refreshing and repeating until out of mana would drop most heroes pretty quick. Edit: ROFL. Definitely going dagon next time. 800 damage for 100 mana with no cooldown??? Wtf, why isn't this standard?
Because it doesn't help you farm/push and you shouldn't need the damage for ganking. Once you have sheepstick, you can chain sheep while you reset your nukes. I've seen dendi get blink and that makes tinker basically unkillable (blink/charge/blink/charge/blink until you can tp) and unkiteable.
Dagon is probably a good item to get in the lategame if you're going to need to carry teamfights because your team is retarded. It's just expensive and the other items are core to his pushing (bot/sheep/shiva/blink) safely. If you play the rest of the game well, it shouldn't be hard to get a dagon to deal with a team that's turtling. A key thing vs a turtling team if your team can't rax is to stop pushing and start controlling your creeps. If the other team is staying in their base, just start farming/denying and pull the creeps away from them and your xp and gold advantage will force them out of their base. If you just keep sending waves of creeps to their base towers for them to farm, eventually they'll catch up.

My teamates definitely weren't farming, and I was taking basically every creep on the map with re-armed double bot waves, so I was stacked as can be, but didn't really realize that I was basically feeding their carries free creep waves, and they actually needed them.
I do think I would need the dagon for actually useful ganking, because unless their carry has zero farm and is underleveled, I won't be able to finish them off with one or two combos anyways without running out of mana. And killing their terrible es for the 8th time isn't going to help me out or hurt him that much.
Obviously if I go dagon first it won't help me much, but if I go sheepstick, then lvl 1/2 dagon, then shiva, then finish dagon, i don' think it would set me back too far. If I got the push stick or blink before shiva, I could probably finish shiva after dagon, since it would give me a reliable escape.
Are there any demos of good tinker play in Dota 2, even pubs? Probably too early for that, I would guess. I've never played him or seen him played, so i'm kind of guessing/feeling as to what i should be doing anyways, but he seems hella fun, and i think he would be amazing when played with a team that actually has a competent carry + good stuns.

I like how rules 1 and 2 break rule 3.

This is definitely one of the more useful guides I have seen on playdota. I recently have been trying to perfect my tinker as well, and this guide helped boatloads.

Thank you most excellent sir. I think I'm going to do my best to be a BOSS tinker player. Despite losing, the two games I played with him were the most fun I've had playing dota 2 so far. And oddly enough, I was doing almost everything right as far as my skill usage. Good item ideas and ganking helps though. Didn't think about manta......refreshable manta....mmmmmm.

Yea same, maybe they will add in an option later.

They won because of megacreeps though.

However, I do know how to remove the floating number above your healthbar, and I suspect a lot of people are going to ask how to do this in the near future (that thing is god damn annoying). The console command for removing it is "dota_hud_healthbar 0".

Is there any way to get rid of the dota-cursor? I loathe it and would much rather have the windows mouse.

On January 14 2012 01:08 Asores wrote: Is there any way to get rid of the dota-cursor? I loathe it and would much rather have the windows mouse. I don't think this is doable without editing the game files. If you're not afraid of altering the files, simply replace the cursor files in the steamapps dota 2 folder (..\steamapps\common\dota 2 beta\dota\resource\cursor) with the windows mouse icon.
