edit:nvm I think I need better card

There used to be a command r_deferred 0 that would give a nice boost, but it seems the latest patch removed the ability to change that

If you're losing to a hero because you just refuse to get the teamwork to buy detection and utterly rape him, then you're going to love Phantom Lancer, Lycanthrope (especially), and the absolute bevy of other heroes, many of which can be stopped very easily by these things called a team, and observer wards, and dust.

I suppose it's very obvious but if your a hero that riki or any invis hero can easily kill, don't buy a gem. Really gems aren't new essays until really lategame. Though there are some times where you should buy one earlier... For the most part dust and sentries suffice.

I never got why people like dust so much, imo sentry wards are infinnetly better than dust(baring in mind your team has some cc), can someone explain to me why do people focus on dust so much????

Riki can easily blink-strike a creep out of range of sentry to escape. Same goes for other heroes, given that many of them have movement speed bonuses.

You're assuming that you'll always have enough CC to keep your target locked down within the range of the Sentry Ward before they die, which is very often not the case, particularly with many stealth heroes that have escapes. Sentries are good in many situations, but Dust allows you to chase, which is an option that shouldn't be neglected.

Yes, a fair amount of stealth heroes are windwalk-style, so they get movement speed boosts.

He is probably the easiest hero to use in pubs especially because he needs coordination to take down and you won't find that in pub games. he is complete crap in a competitive environment though.

He is a valid last pick with the right constellation (especially with the 6.73 buff)

Riki is usually my goto pick against teams that have both furion and am. He is great vs both.

that level of situational is the exact definition of crap.
maybe not complete like an ursa for example, but still shit against a high tier pro-team (as opposed to the many mid/lower-tier pro teams that you see in competitions like the Defense), what would be the odds of someone beating a team like DK with riki as opposed to some serious carries (edit: not that the odds of someone beating DK specifically with anything would be that high)

He is situational, but that does not make him crap. Bounty hunter found his place too on the solo side lane.

Riki as a last pick can be devastating. Riki as a first pick is just horrific. If someone picks riki, I just pick slardar or bh, and faceroll my way to victory. Both of the their ultis are direct counters to rikis invisibility, and without his invis, he is pretty crappy. Just don't wonder around on your own very often, and have a quick trigger finger if you have stuns. I have many fond memories of playing shaman in particular, and hex, ulti, shackle comboing a pubstomp riki with nothing but pure damage items into the ground.

Just played a game with AA who spammed his ult on the lanes when a team fight wasn't imminent. This kept the lanes for the most part pushed onto the enemies side of the map. I kept telling him to stop but he wouldn't.
Eventually he claimed that it gave us lane control. Surely it does the opposite as it keeps the lanes pushed and on their sides allowing for them to farm with ease and stopping us from farming for the most part? He also said he did it because if we wiped in a team fight they could easily push us and rax us which is understandable but they never came close to wiping us.
Anyway, won the game just wondering if what he was doing was a good idea or if I was right.

It gives you map control to have the lanes pushed, but if you don't USE that map control then the other team can just farm the creeps and you can't. With the lanes pushed to their side of the map, the other team doesn't have vision of all the entrances to their jungles/ganking lanes, so you can just go kill them. Entering the other team's jungle from your short lane with the creeps pushed is generally the best way to gank when you have map control because most pubs don't ward that entrance.
But you're right, spamming AA ulti on creep waves is worse than furion spamming ulti on cooldown the whole game unless you're specifically doing it to allow you to gank (even then his ult is a much better ganking tool than creep pushing tool..

I just meant, riki might find it's way into some lineups as well, for different reasons than BH of course.

I have arachnophobia and wc3 broodmother is much scarier for me. Wc3 engine too scary. Dota 2 broodmother looks really tame. Thats a good thing though
