The Chinese sped up the game more than anything prior with their stupidly good timing plays and their carry players dropping stupidly high CS per game time. Their meta game changed pretty rapidly.

Their meta game changed pretty rapidly. they are also the ones who showed us the true meaning of 'farmfest'. and who said i thought they are bad for the metagame D: their timing strategies are indeed impressive (and made some of them the best dota teams in the world) but that only happen on the top top top top level teams due to they have some insane team coordination. otherwise....prepare for some turtle up games which are always about buying time to let the carry farm all game (without involving in one single team fight), dota was not that 'formulaic' back in 2007/08. IF have been trying to change that but the chinese still manage to do so. the thing is i just missed the old days where the games were super exciting, tonnes of team fights and seeing the lanes are being constantly pushed so close to the rax, yesterday's game reminded me of kuroky's tinker games back then. maybe is just the ballsiness of the players/playstyle that i like.

Their meta developmental path, especially their game pace, isn't all that much different from what NA/Euros did prior. If anything, watching Ezy on Clinkz is just as farmtastic. Like I don't think you understand that (maybe you do) their carry players were really talented at last hitting and that creates a perception of farmfest when it did a lot more to pressure teams than any ganks would at the time. They basically said, keep up with us or effectively lose the game at 40 minutes. The rest of the dragged out game came from DotA mechanics itself and not by fault of the Chinese players since Euros did the same. Getting the game into an effectively stalled state during that period was very easy, near infinite buybacks, narrow choke to base, line ups that can abuse either of those were played by all regions. The ones that didn't fell off the face of competitive dota or disbanded. Credit to them to transitioning out of that phase very quickly and really just sticking the Euro teams that only perceived the Chinese meta as farmfest who went to that Alienware month long league like 2 or 3 years ago during winter break.

In the first game, I killed their mid twice(poor windrunner..dat low hp), got most of the creep kills, and finished BoT + got bottle in 11 minutes or so. Not super fast, I guess, but good for me. This resulted in me raping all the lanes for the next five minutes. From there I pushed everything while my team farmed or generally jacked off in jungle doing nothing important, never helping take towers for the most part, and it didn't help that they were all support/ganker types, not carries. I ended up completely stacked with sheepstick, ice armor, crit staff, bkb, BoT, bottle, + 5000 gold but the other team just turtled for literally 60 minutes, then pushed out with spectre and alchemist and just raped my terrible team at the end of a 80 minute game. Basically, I had about 5 minutes during which I ported around and raped them, and then they turtled at towers/base for a solid 30 minutes until their carries managed to get enough farm to actually do anything. The second game was worse in that their mid was amazing, and kept everything under control. I definitely "won" mid, but I had no kills, and he denied and generally harassed me well enough to make my BoT much later. When I started trying to gank, I got maybe 3 kills before they wised up on me, and their huskar and magebane just tower/base hugged for 20 minutes and then just moved out and raped us. My pushing ended up taking a rax down lategame vs them, but it was way too little, too late. In both games I ended up taking all the outer towers fairly quickly, but could never take a base tower/rax. Basically, is there anything you can do vs lineups like this when your team has no hard carry and your mid-game ganking/pushing shenanigans don't win the game right off the bat? Any better item choices?

your items where ok, everything that is refreshed by your ultimate is fine (sheep, bkb, euls, etc etc). altough you can mb go for a ghostscepter when you have problems with carrier that focus you down very quickly.

Yeah, i was kind of shocked too. Technically, I had a carry in the second one, but it was sniper than went vangaurd/other random stupidity, so he doesn't count. I was thinking maybe lvl 5 dagon + push stick might be ok too, since I'm faster than most heroes with BoT, and just need a litte separation. I'm not sure about dagon mana needs, but sheepstick + dagon + q then refreshing and repeating until out of mana would drop most heroes pretty quick. Edit: ROFL. Definitely going dagon next time. 800 damage for 100 mana with no cooldown??? Wtf, why isn't this standard?
