Batrider and Lycanthrope are far and away the most banned heroes in Chinese competitive DotA 1. hmm but why? i never played batrider myself so idk how he works He's one of the strongest solo laners in the game, one of the scariest gankers in the game, and one of the most reliable initiators in the game. hmm then why isn't he being picked more often? teams opting for more push-heavy heroes? that's the feel i've been getting from all the lineups i've been seeing, the typical bm/veno/furion/chen/enchant etc etc. only saw him being used once in that defense compilation hype video lol On March 12 2012 03:41 Kipsate wrote:On March 12 2012 03:38 konadora wrote:On March 12 2012 03:36 red_ wrote:On March 12 2012 03:34 konadora wrote:On March 12 2012 03:33 TheYango wrote:On March 12 2012 03:31 konadora wrote: never played batrider (i realise i never play a lot of the "new heroes", invoker huskar all only played this year in dota 2, never in dota 1), but how good is he?

oh DAT HOOK
did that increase the hook's aoe point or something? iirc the last time i played pudge in dota 2, the hook's point aoe wasn't so big o_O

I believe the hook in Dota 2 is larger then in Dota 1.

I don't think so, would go against the entire 'Dota 1 = Dota 2' concept.

oh okay, maybe it's just the graphics change that makes me think so :s

The hook is rather odd in dota2, in dota1 it didn't have that strange thing on the top It feels strange to me most of the time, like the aoe doesn't really match the model.

Because there were like a million bugs with him that didn't get fixed until a couple of the recent patches. Check the patch notes for details.

Since Frostbite is coded based on Entangling Roots, it can't target flying units in DotA 1.

Mechanically they were not flying heroes (they couldn't move over terrain, didn't have flying vision, etc.). The only hero that's a flying hero in the game mechanics sense was Batrider during Firefly.
