I'm tempted to say this patch is the combination of things that he wanted to do for a long time but didn't work in WC3 and further attempts for shorter games/more aggression. The combination of increased gold over time, kill bonus, the jungle, 4 minute nighttime and a random factor for roshan basically screams "go fucking fight".

Yeah, it seems IceFrog wants way more action and less waiting around.

Looking over it again in addition to that it's making everything more bullshit (aka more dota) which is awesome. Worst case some things might need to be disabled in -cm or changed a bit soon after they come out but it's gonna be glorious.

I don't think this changes bat a ton ... I mean, lasso is harder to hit, but getting that bit closer shouldn't make bat useless, nor should the change to his base damage, considering his mostly ran in the jungle now-a-days.


Bat's still going to be a good hero. It's more that it's risky to first-pick him now since his laning ability really got nerfed. Before, teams had to pick their mids around a possible mid bat. Now bat can really only be run in offlane/jungle.

These changes are just fucking weird.

Like could buyback be more convoluted now? Surely there's a better way to balance it than that.

And random roshan respawn time, errr... why. So now we get people who will complain about 'yeah we won the team-fight and couldn't kill roshan'.

If it's good or not for the game I don't know, but these sort of changes seem completely unnecessary to me at this point.

* Buyback prevents gaining unreliable gold (creeps, neutrals, etc) until your normal respawn time finishes
* When buying back, 25% of the remaining respawn time will be added to your next death


Does that mean that after a buyback and until you would have respawned normally...

a) you get 0 gold from unreliable sources (creeps etc)
b) you get gold from unreliable sources, but you get it as reliable

With the 2-1-2 versus trilane thing he's done though I really hope that trilanes are still viable, but to the point where dual lanes are too, creating a 3-1-1 vs 2-1-2 scenario.

1) It hasn't been posted on Playdota
