I'm not yet convinced by this method for money making. Though the fact that it's possible in Dota is pretty cool.

Diretide they dropped down to about $1. Personally I recently sold all my Dota, CSGO and some TF2 stuff on the Steam Market, made $100+ (and I gave away some of my better Dota stuff to friends, so not too bad)

At 1.3 dollars a piece, 39 feretories required to make 50 dollars. That's 487500 shining fragments required. I remember getting between 700 and 800 shining fragments when 3/5 players had the favour activated. Let's assume you have 4 friends that all buy the favour too, and you have 5/5 players with favour. I don't actually know how many shining fragments this gives. 1000? Completing a game of Wraith night takes roughly 30 minutes, including loading times, hero selection, etc. So at 1000 fragments every 30 minutes, you need to play wraith night for 244 hours. erm.. edit: doesn't take into account the normal fragments you earn during this. I don't know how much the other fragment items go for on the steam market. It's still gonna be a long time to make 50 dollars. It'd take over 200 hours of wraith night to get 40 feretories.

If any of you didn't realize you spend 3 dollars for permission to grind out 2 dollars worth of items in 20 hours of your life until just now... I am sorry. I'm here for you, pm me if you need counseling. Valve should either make the grind much less insane or set minimum sell prices on the market or something. I don't study economies very often I just know Wraithnight was fun and worthwhile for about 5 percent of it's duration, even if it was cool to do one time it wasn't too thought out in the long run. we must have played different frostivus event then, grinding gifts/ossuaries with Favour and selling them on the market was the most profitable endeavour since 2012 diretide for dota2 nubies/players On January 27 2014 18:28 cecek wrote: Shadow Essences dropped in value a lot, but the regular q/w/e went for like 8/9 cents each. That's no too bad considering how many you got, add the money you got from the occasional shadow essence drop and cursed recipe and you could've made enough to buy a game on steam or whatever. Obviously, if you count how much you're making per hour, it's absolutely laughable, but you'd probably be playing dota, anyway. Definitely better financially than opening the recipes and hoping for a good drop. right now they go for 10-13 eurocents, so pretty good, if you held onto them. a set of 3 is worth more than a trash rare i crafted about half of my essences, and im OK with it, since got some decent rares and a mythical or two, which back then in november still had worth. Nowadays it's laughable how worthless the items are, only keys and brand new epic stuff cost much, trash rare/unc/com are about 30% lower than they used to be, and since they implemented the price-tag (for a couple of weeks) people realized that items they thought are good are actually trash too. I only wished i started trading sooner, in the 2 months prior that price-tag debacle i went from 0 keys to 20+ and from like 8 rares to 50. Most people didnt have a clue, how much their items are worth.
