Valve just released information about their next event on the Dota 2 official blog.
As the cold days grow longer and the first blooms slowly reach above the snow, powers both benevolent and savage have begun to stir. Discover the first of many developments that the coming renewal will bring to the world of Dota. The New Bloom Festival is about to commence!
All the info about the event can be read here. And if you allow me, it's looking sweet.

Reposting from GD: It's like Wraith Night but with Chinese New Year, there's a new gamemode with a boss, you get something similar to the fragments, can buy a battlebooster to increase the drops and then you can craft shit with them. Like in Diretide, the event will have cycles. Seems like we'll be crafting special items ingame, explosives and stuff, that should be fun. There's also gonna be some way to "sacrifice" cosmetic items for something. Also, the map is going to be different like with the other 2 events. Let's hope the game mode is fun, Wraith Night was pretty cool. Also, it's day 1, so there's probably more of these posts coming, as always.

Valve made TL courier before TL. Well played.

Will they add a new hero? Or is it just a mode?
|
I'm pretty excited for this looks like it should be fun

yeah. Wishlist? I don't see confirmation of Phoenix or Terrorblade. Well the speculation is that the 'beast' is either phoenix or terrorblade's metamorphosis.

This looks fun but I hope they learned from Wraithnight that you lose money by buying favors and playing instead of buying the things off the market or trading things from the market for the new items.
If any of you didn't realize you spend 3 dollars for permission to grind out 2 dollars worth of items in 20 hours of your life until just now... I am sorry. I'm here for you, pm me if you need counseling.
Valve should either make the grind much less insane or set minimum sell prices on the market or something. I don't study economies very often I just know Wraithnight was fun and worthwhile for about 5 percent of it's duration, even if it was cool to do one time it wasn't too thought out in the long run.
|
I don't mind new hats but when you have to play through Wraith Night 2.0 to get them... i feel sick to the stomache
|
I simply hope it comes with Maps editor. Gotta see people remake the entire War3 campaign with this engine
|
terrorblade gonna be the bad guy and phoenix the good guy stopping him
sorry for spoilers if you couldn't figure it out yourself.

That courier looks phenomenal.

Thats the teamliquid horse

The dragon thing and the silhouette are obviously pit lord.

Or you could just get them off the marketplace. Or trade for them.

get hyped guys, gonna play this a lot

I should like to play the New Bloom event and find that awesome courier.

Looks cool, always glad to see more heroes too!

Yeah I quickly realised this which is why I didn't buy a second favour (and if I knew they would convert unused favour time into battle bonus, I wouldn't have even finished). Wraith Night games didn't even give battle points.

I liked Wraith Night more than Diretide or the Greeviling, so I hope that this mode will whet my appetite as well.

<3 Sucker for new map cosmetics....and new hats.
Pretty stoked about this.

If you were intelligent about it, you could have easily made some spare change playing wraith night.
Don't open the fucking gifts / ossuarys / feretorys. They EASILY sold for more than any item that came out of them.
It took one 99cent favor to get about 4-5 Feretorys, depending on how good you were. And each feretory is currently selling for around 1.3USD
Easy at least 400% return on investment.
|
Is it another mini game? or is it a patch similar to the 3 spirits patch?
I am expecting a re skinned map
|
I just started playing CS:GO, do I have to switch back to Dota2 now? #firstworlproblem

Fancy percentages don't mean much if you're only making 5 dollars

That's very true, but it'll take you several days to farm up ~40 feretories. I'm not yet convinced by this method for money making. Though the fact that it's possible in Dota is pretty cool.

Selling the stuff from these events is usually better. Even in Diretide, selling essences you could make a good amount of steam wallet money. I never did it, because I love opening boxes, personally. :D I might do it this time and buy some nice set with the money.
|
Pre-Diretide (ie. the year prior, when the shadow essences were for Greevil's) Shadow Essences went for like $20+. Diretide they dropped down to about $1.
Personally I recently sold all my Dota, CSGO and some TF2 stuff on the Steam Market, made $100+ (and I gave away some of my better Dota stuff to friends, so not too bad)

Shadow Essences dropped in value a lot, but the regular q/w/e went for like 8/9 cents each. That's no too bad considering how many you got, add the money you got from the occasional shadow essence drop and cursed recipe and you could've made enough to buy a game on steam or whatever. Obviously, if you count how much you're making per hour, it's absolutely laughable, but you'd probably be playing dota, anyway. Definitely better financially than opening the recipes and hoping for a good drop.

Seems sweet! Hoping for new heroes! :D

also it doesn't take you that much time.

+ Show Spoiler +Let's run some math.
12500 shining fragments required for 1 feretory.
At 1.3 dollars a piece, 39 feretories required to make 50 dollars.
That's 487500 shining fragments required.
I remember getting between 700 and 800 shining fragments when 3/5 players had the favour activated. Let's assume you have 4 friends that all buy the favour too, and you have 5/5 players with favour. I don't actually know how many shining fragments this gives. 1000? Completing a game of Wraith night takes roughly 30 minutes, including loading times, hero selection, etc.
So at 1000 fragments every 30 minutes, you need to play wraith night for 244 hours.
erm..
edit: doesn't take into account the normal fragments you earn during this. I don't know how much the other fragment items go for on the steam market. It's still gonna be a long time to make 50 dollars.
It'd take over 200 hours of wraith night to get 40 feretories.

Wtf how did a topic about a seasonal event spinoff into math.

Definitely better financially than opening the recipes and hoping for a good drop. right now they go for 10-13 eurocents, so pretty good, if you held onto them. a set of 3 is worth more than a trash rare i crafted about half of my essences, and im OK with it, since got some decent rares and a mythical or two, which back then in november still had worth.
Nowadays it's laughable how worthless the items are, only keys and brand new epic stuff cost much, trash rare/unc/com are about 30% lower than they used to be, and since they implemented the price-tag (for a couple of weeks) people realized that items they thought are good are actually trash too.
I only wished i started trading sooner, in the 2 months prior that price-tag debacle i went from 0 keys to 20+ and from like 8 rares to 50. Most people didnt have a clue, how much their items are worth.
