Also i notice a decent amount of physical/all resist on that gear, is it worth it? I only have around 15k HP (cleared half of act 1 with ~4 deaths) but one of the minions of an elite (yellow) mob melee swung me for over 25k while i was recording last night. Isnt it better to just dodge and smokescreen everything? IIRC Athene's DH has or had 17k HP

Just out of curiosity - can you post a picture of your non budget equipment and your DH stats with this equipment? I want to see how big the difference is. Thanks in advance! Updated - the difference on my main gear and my budget gear is huge. However, because my main gear is so successful in farming (MUCH more successful than Tank/Glass Cannon builds), and I imagine it will be what people will gear towards in the future for PvP, I wanted to share a good way to build your demon hunter and take advantage of every stat. On July 17 2012 18:55 HandsomeDevil wrote: NIce videos, very helpful. But, how come you chose to do act3 inferno and not act2 or act4? Just wondering. I chose Act 3 because currently, Act 3 & Act 4 have the same drop rate. This means if you want the best gears in the game, it's sufficient to farm Act 3. Currently, farming act 3 is the ONLY "end-game" and that is to improve your equipment, and prepare for PvP. On July 17 2012 19:18 Cyro wrote: I just dinged 60. I imagine glass cannon builds being too frail for PvP, but I can only imagine because I don't know. Athene impresses people with high numbers, and he does it so well because he kills everything SO insanely fast with his DPS. That's not our goal, we can't afford to have 400k dps, not even 200k without sharpshooter, we need something more practical than this... In the end, your "most efficient way to farm" is going to be to IGNORE monsters. This is how I currently farm, I ignore regular monsters, run through them, and kill only elites. Glass cannon DHs can't do this very well, because you can't smoke screen forever, and tank DH take too long to kill. Resist gear is NOT worth it with low HP. You need at least ~30k ++ (40K is a great number)

I thought the tripled discipline regeneration from 4piece bonus was considered very overpowered (athene said it would probably be nerfed, until blizzard stated otherwise) and he only dropped it from his main gear to persue that 414k+ DPS without regard for survivability, if you are taking that into account so much, isnt the massive amount of disc worth a lot?

You're right, I think the 2 discipline is OP, and blizzard announced plans to reward players who invested (basically ~300M-500M) in getting good rolls on Natalya gear by keeping the set bonuses (for now). The reason here is really simple. I cant't afford the ring yet LOL I have great rolls on the helm, armor, and boots; now I just gotta somehow come up with 150M for the ring T__T btw: I won`t double post so I`ll just add this in this reply: Added new video demo: Bonus 2 [8 min]: Rakanoth - A good strategy and skill spec for killing rakanoth in Act 4 + Show Spoiler +

Maybe it makes his pathing different to have the templar? thx again for the awesome guide that's interesting... to tell you the truth, I actually haven't tried him with a merc. But yeah, probably templar's constant aggro stalls him while you continue moving, then ghom takes a different path to you? I really don't know, but it's just a guess lol

I play a survival-style DH and so I have high resistall (about 500) and relatively low DPS (about 37k now without SS). But when I started Act3, I had probably only about 28k DPS. I killed Cydaea with the 37k DPS I think. The trick for some bosses is to cheese them - Ghom, for instance, can be cheesed using a DH tank build (google and you'll find it). And if you think that the gear for the tank build is expensive, guess again (it costs at most 150k). Cydaea cannot be cheesed and she's a pain to deal with, but there's a trick to her - during her "spider phase", you need to keep moving, and and there are some nice spots to nuke the spiders. Some of the hardest parts in Act3 is when you pull an almost impossible to kill champion pack. Sometimes to save your sanity, it's best to skip them lol In Act4, I also cheesed Rakanoth, but I'll talk about that if I write my guide!

I feel like not enough people are preparing for/or at least thinking about PvP... We dont know enough to prepare for it IMO. With people on the upper end of the spectrum doing 200k listed DPS... If you armor and resist stacks up to 90% damage reduction, good for you, but ive spent like 3 hours in Inferno and my Cluster Bomb crits for ~180k x6 per shot. People have three or four (or in some cases, 8) times my listed DPS, there will have to be massive changes to the damage system, or buffs/debuffs that we dont know about yet, all of your gearing efforts could be worthless if there is an unknown factor. With smokescreen being as it is and respawns in arena, im not even sure stacking HP/Resist would be the way to go. It only takes 1/6'th of a cluster bomb to instantly kill you from 50k hp with enough resistances/armor to have 90% damage reduction which is pretty high end, as it stands right now i have no idea how blizzard plans for anyone with gear to survive for more than half a second if focused by all 4 enemies, even with a bandaid fix like a global nerf to damage

With smokescreen being as it is and respawns in arena, im not even sure stacking HP/Resist would be the way to go - Cluster bombs will never hit a player lol, no one is going to stand still unless they are stunlocked (but it is normal to nerf the duration of statuses in PvP, at least from my experience with most other games that I have played) - It COULD be a worthless effort yes, but here is a video by Kripp that would describe how I exactly think about this TLDR; Some preparation is better than none, and those who prepare (even if wrong) are much more likely to at least prepare for SOME of the content released (even if wrong on other parts) + Show Spoiler + - Smokescreen with glass cannon DH? There is a 0.5 sec cooldown between smokescreens... if I simply SS myself, and hold down my left click with hungering arrow, the moment your smokescreen runs out, the hundering arrow would be guided and 1hit ko if you completely ignore resists/HP On July 21 2012 18:28 padfoota wrote: I demand justice. From what I heard you say, you dont do arreat crater levels. I've been doing stonefort, then arreat crater lvl 1 all the way down to azmodan every time, taking me a little under 2 hours each run. Its been painful, and I guess I should be skipping arreat crater levels because those snakes are so annoying. Anyways thx for helping us all out/giving us a good watch.
