If you are only attacking with Frenzy, Sidearm has higher DPS, even against a single target. Maniac ups your DPS by 20% when you're at full stacks. Sidearm ups your DPS by 27.5% on average (a 110% weapon damage proc ~1 in 4 attacks), independent of whether you have stacks or not.
The thing that changes this is whether you're doing damage with non-Frenzy skills. The example I gave was +20% damage on Earthquake. It would take 27 Sidearm procs to outweigh the damage boost Frenzy gives to Earthquake.
If you are on single target Sidearm proc doesn't guarantee to hit that same target all the time. Some time I see 4 proc in around just rolling the other way.
Maniac is guarantee ofc given you can keep the stack up.

Speaking about this kind of math, anyone knows exactly how DoT effects work? As in, does it check your damage when you cast it and keep the same DPS over the duration or does it change if your damage changes, and does the speed of the weapon affect it or a slow weapon will do more damage?
I would assume it only checks it when you cast it and the speed of the weapon doesn't affect the damage, and if that's the case wouldn't it be worth it to switch to a 2H weapon just to cast earthquake? It would do a lot more damage. Old D2 style quick switch of weapons would have been great for this.
Anyone else trying to stay out of melee combat on their barb? I was recently theorycrafting and I was wondering if there was a way to use things like Seismic Slam or Weapon Throw to reliably kite like a ranged class would. I was actually thinking of using bash with the extra fury rune (for 12 fury per hit) to keep one of these ranged options going. I'm not into inferno yet, though - has anyone tried it? Does it work decently?

There are a few axe throw build a few pages back IIRC haven't try it myself yet cos for me it defeats the whole point of playing a Barb. Still, I think its viable up to Hell though, not sure about Inferno.

Now though there is Elite/Melee Reduction. Don't really need it for Act I but it will make it even easier. I would say try to do the stats above then when you get to Act II your going to need to be adding more of all those stats above + Reduction of Melee. Most of this I already knew but Kripparrian did add some extra incite on the equations.
I have around 850 all res, 40k health, 15k damage. I can easily do Act I...There is still some gear pieces that I need to do Act II but soon I will be able to do it .
Wow... thats crazy gear. I'm on Act 1 with 25k hp 8k dmg. I'm scared now..... I noticed that any mob bigger than humoid can 2 (or 3) shot me.
Templar + Charge w/ Dreadnaugh + Ignore pain got me to the Skeleton King. Killed 2 elites, ran from 2... but its "doable"
I think I'm going to get all +vit gear. Right now, I have 4 or 5 items without it. I do have a lvl 54 shield, but it has 25% block... which is so hard to find.

that are very low stats tbh. think i had like 45k hp, 9.5k dps when i entered inferno the first time. (and even then i got owned alot)
you kinda need a full gear makeover. since you need dmg, about twice as much hp and finally allres

He doesn't need twice as much HP. I'm reliably farming Skeleton King with 28k HP and 7k DPS.
The main thing is armor/resists. HP is absolutely worthless on its own.
so is it just me or is superstition really glitchy. A while back it would show 20% for all of the elemental res and now it does not affect the stats at all. I'm not even sure its working. Anyone else have this problem?
About Kymbo's Gold. What is a good roll on that item. I see they have no Vit but %life, also there is no All res just single element res. I want to buy a good amulet but this Kymbo's gold didn't look that good to me.

I would assume fire resist would always be good, it is a Diablo game after all.
Almost bought a 50str,50vit,35 resist all ring for 100k. Don't know why I second guessed myself and was so slow. Just in first act Inferno and I'm trying to upgrade some bad items that I have.
