At the same time some of the barbs who cleared inferno relied heavily on lifesteal ? It might be that Life on hit is penalized differently than %, making it viable still. Not sure at all though. Anyone know how to spec lifesteal for barb in inferno? It's really just a question of having the DPS to get something out of even the reduced-effectiveness lifesteal. The lifesteal barb used to clear Inferno Diablo relied mostly on % lifesteal, not life on hit. Most Barbs going into Inferno are going to have sub-10k DPS. At that kind of DPS, lifesteal isn't going to be an effective source of healing in a fight. You just don't do enough damage. But at high enough damage (the 50k that he was pulling), lifesteal starts to get very significant. Just beat solo Skeleton King. Had a few rough packs in the Cemetery, but got to SkelK with a 5-stack and didn't run into a single champ pack I couldn't kill, including several I expected to have trouble with. Resists are ABSOLUTELY king for anyone starting out in Inferno. Going from 30 resist all -> 150 is like playing a completely different game. My current build is: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WhYXVk!beU!ccZacc Cookie-cutter skills, but effective. I'm running 37k hp, ~200resist all with shout up and about 6.7k armor. I can do normal mobs with some ease, though they still hit hella hard. Rare packs of mobs I can't even think about killing unless I get very lucky modifiers on the packs and where they stay still and don't have any dmg abilities. It's not even about it being hard, I simply can't go into melee range without dying in 10sec. What am I supposed to do exactly as a melee class with no range abilities? I either die so many times it's a gold sink to actually kill them or hit an enrage timer after 15min or so of kiting. I've tried several different builds from Barbs in inferno and some work betters than others so thats not my problem. Can't even farm Act1 in inferno for slow gear drops to upgrade. Am I supposed to go down a difficulty and farm ez mode Hell difficulty for weeks until I can go live longer than 10sec in inferno? And buying upgrades from AH isn't really an option, I've looked and all my upgrades cost 150k+ a pop easily and I'm only sitting on 200k. I had similar questions 2 days ago, you can check my posts a few pages ago. From then 'till now I made some progress, and here's how: 1. First of all, you need 1k str + 1k vit to keep you going. I had almost identical stats to what you're saying, and I started exchanging what I could for better str+vit stats. I started with amulet, and today I changed both rings. I added about 400str in total to about 1050 now, and everything is MUCH better. Mostly because my damage doubled. (I have a 580dps spear, and I was doing ~4500 damage before, and now I'm doing just under 10k) 2. To get further, you need to bring those both up to 1.5k (str/vit), and resistances all over 200 without any shouts. That should make you able to clear most mobs (you will still die from some, but not as often, and very few will be impossible to beat). This is probably trickier since you'll have to spend about 500k for each item you replace, but if you keep an eye on the AH, you will find that there are a lot of "offers", items that are below their normal price range. I suggest you do this before real money AH comes online, because hell will break loose then. Once you get >1.5k strength, and over 600dps on your weapon, you should be able to farm the entire ACT1. Vitality helps in many ways, but not just to beef your hp, instead, it allows you to play a little with your build and not have full defense. I already switched from charge to battle rage for the 30% extra damage, because I don't need healing that much anymore. I was super annoyed by inferno as well and I put a lot of money in resistances, but those alone won't do you much good. Get STR+VIT up and you will see an improvement instantly!

Now though there is Elite/Melee Reduction. Don't really need it for Act I but it will make it even easier. I would say try to do the stats above then when you get to Act II your going to need to be adding more of all those stats above + Reduction of Melee. Most of this I already knew but Kripparrian did add some extra incite on the equations. I have around 850 all res, 40k health, 15k damage. I can easily do Act I...There is still some gear pieces that I need to do Act II but soon I will be able to do it ![]()

You can REALLY feel the difference with the first 100 or so resist all that you get, even if you're sacrificing Strength and Vitality a bit to get it. Particularly with stuff like Molten and Plagued, it goes from chunking you in 2 seconds to being heavy--but manageable with good positioning--damage. I ditched like 6k HP to get +100 resist all, and I felt WAY tankier.

I made a wizard because I was sick and tired of my skill having very little to how well I was doing, and there being mobs that I couldn't kill no matter what. Also because I wanted to do damage. Wizard is so much better then barb, shit gear and can kill 90% of act1 inferno easily with a little kiting.

117 STR 172 VIT 364 life stolen per hit and ignores durability. I got it for 95,000 gold a few days ago, lol. I think people have learned and will charge at least 500k for this weapon. That much life per hit is really good with Frenzy. My standard build is 1 Ground Stomp (Wrenching Smash) 2 Revenge (Provocation) 3 Leap (Iron Impact) 4 Wrath of the Berserker (Insanity) L Frenzy (Smite) R Ignore Pain (Ignorance is Bliss) Passives Superstition Tough as Nails Relentless If you don't know how to get Leap and Ground Stomp on the action bar, turn on elective mode in gameplay options, then you can set different skills to the preset action buttons (you can't change 1-4 L/R as far as I know). Edit: AHHH I wasn't paused and lost my Nephalem buff lol. That buff is why I don't change abilities for maximum armor or w/e when farming. This build basically allows you to thrive on your cooldowns and revenge procs, occasionally doing high damage with your ultimate. The Ignore Pain rune gives huge lifesteal, which is why I often use it during my ult, since I just want to stand and tunnel DPS during ult. I don't change passives if I have the Nephalem buff which is removed if you change skills, otherwise I'd change it up occasionally, but I think it's quite balanced as is. Relentless allows you to work very well with your other survival cooldowns, but it does make the 20-40% HP range deceptively dangerous. I also use enchantress with her armor aura when soloing. Before I got my weapon, I was more desperate and often used Earthquake with no rage cost and lower CD for some suicide kills on elites, but that got old and now elites will heal to full sometimes after you die. As far as the harder acts, I'll just find out the hard way, but I have farmed up quite a bit and am slowly collecting a bit of alternate gear for pure survival.

I noticed that you guys say you breezed through easier modes but my barb is dying very easy to elite packs on nightmare. I've alternated between two 1h's and 1h/shield and heavy crit 2hand but I always get my ass handed to me. Could it be that my average armor level is 23? I tend to skip higher armor upgrades if they have less vit, so I end up with high vit and low armor items. Halp pls. Oh, I'm lvl 38 btw, actII nightmare.

Does his drops good? I don't want to venture in ACT 2 and get murder terribly after all I read in this thread ![]() So, I cleared ACT 1 after 7 hours of questing and farming made some profit in the process ![]() ![]()

I just got to act 2 with two other people and we were getting our ass handed to us by trash alone.

I start at Cemetery, quickly kill 2-3 rare packs there. Then warp to Halls of Agony level 2. The reason for this is I can't kill rare packs in Hall of Agony effectively enough with my set of skills. After 5 runs I am starting to think that I am ready for Butcher run since its quite slow for me. Take about 30 mins per run since I start at cemetery. I didn't do Warden though, I though hes a quest boss so he doesn't spawn. I think I will switch back to SK ![]() Thats some very very good gear. I'm very satisfied with the effectiveness of Furious Charge, and I'm sort of regretting not playing with it sooner. A lot of packs, particularly ones with medium sustained-damage like Molten, Plagued, and Desecrator felt way easier due to the triple healing with this build than with my previous setup. I'm fairly certain I'll ditch Ignore Pain for Leap though. The situations where I really needed Ignore Pain didn't come up that often and Leap makes Waller and Arcane Enchanted WAY easier.
