I killed him some days ago already but i mustve spend at least 100 trys on him till i got it right. Had several <10% wipes when he got into a 2nd aoe-phase. It was so enormously frustrating :D But even greater was the relief...i shouted out a little bit, i have to admit :X Also got every achievement possible...not getting hit by his strikes, not getting hit by breath and so on. It was literally the perfect try :D I'm in act 4 just now, killed azmodan an hour ago...was a let down in comparison to belial. But hell, the last dungeon could not be topped in terms of ridiculousness. Teleport-mobs with teleport, vortex, and reflect. Those little phase beasts with fast and invincible minions. It was as if the game deliberately hated me. Apart from that though i feel my build is quite okayish for my specific gear.

Then again, farming has always been a huge part of Diablo, so I guess it's about time I've needed to do it. Got 42k dps, which I think isn't all too far from what's needed, just need to get many millions worth of defensive upgrades I guess.

Main Frost nova with frozen mist, it acts like a Blizzard, does damage, slows, BUT with the advantage of costing no mana, use it to gain time or attack enemies. My first insight so to say... Venom hydra, you know why Arcane armor - Force or the other one depending on your stats Teleport - Wormhole, for when the enemy actually gets close. Arcane orb - celestial orb, just does so much more than the cheap version and is great during this part of the game Magic missle WITH restore arcane on hit, this is the key to this whole build and what makes it viable, I've tried all combinations etc but this one is just great and the only one which actually gives huge amounts of arcane power, 2-3 hits and you get 70ish arcane back with my build. Passives Critical mass, as I have so much crit hit, an alternative though might instead be illusionist for possibly more survivability and if you arn't critical hit heavy. Astral presence, recover arcane nothing special Prodigy, the scaling with this together with magic missile is just insane You can basically cast a massive, stronk very good arcane orb constantly with this build being more efficient than the other one, also you have great survivability through your skills. Hope someone tries it out and give some opinions =) Edit: Trying act 4 solo now too after the mira, zoltun, maghda part and it works remarkably well tbh... also, as arcane power really isn't any problem at all with this build, I'm thinking that some kind of blizzard instead of frost nova might be an alternative, and a safer one at that but need to test it out more.

As soon as I gear up even higher, I am going to do unspeakable things to him. Azmodan is ez mode (to the point that it's completely reasonable to valor stack and kill him for loot). His fireball does 300k~ but you're never going to be hit by it. The only concerns are his limb dropping thing (hits enough to be capped by FA and it hits repeatedly) and, obviously, his hellish ground attack that does about 6k per tick. Some runs it'll land on you and you'll die, sometimes it'll miss you and you can dance around never using teleport or DS.

Well, aside from the pools (which mechanic i still havent figured out, aside from "spawn them at the edge, at the edge, at the edge, RIGHT UNDER YOUR FUCKING FEET, at the edge, UNDER YOUR FUCKING FEET, WHAHAHA YOU HAVE NO POTION READY) there really is nothing with Azmodan thats of any greater difficulty. But let you be told....the dungeon leading up to him and his concubine.... You may very well throw your pc out of your window. Most frustrating part for me, really. I had like 4 times in a row a absolute killer combo (aka invincible minions, molten+vortex, fast + reflect)... And one time, after getting 5xvalor like a boss, the game decided to put a (fast, votex, reflect + invincible minion) in my path....just one way, not sideways to "park" the mobs...it.was.fun. With those words, hf in later act 3 :D

Honestly, phase 2 is the hard part, and to be fair, I never got hit by anything in phase 3 on my first go at it either, so FA didn't really make a difference with that.

Tower of the Damned is absolute bullshit, Soul Rippers + Phasebeasts and Heart of the Cursed has no checkpoint so if you remake game you have to start from level 2 again. Tower of the Cursed is ezpz, just Blood Clan.

these guys are especially nasty soloing, at this point Ive gone back to using galvanizing wand just to fill up between fights and to mitigate damage return somewhat. sure it's not super useful in battle (other than halving the AP cost of FA). both life steal and life on hit seem useless on my hydra/blizzard build

If you can kite them, just slowly dps with hydra and spam heavy damage under diamondskin - use potions/globes/templar heal when you get them. If you can't kite them, it's moot.
