This is why i said they nerfed DS: it was always only useful with FA, and now that FA is basically done, DS is useless as well.

How are you guys doing after the nerf?
I haven't found a good enough build to solo act 2 after the nerf. I am kind of undergeared so that is probably a factor, but i also whiped like 10 times on butcher today because the multihook one shots me.

So now what? FA is now effectively useless, as you would need >50k health for it to even have any purpose anymore.
There is now essentially no way to survive on Act III and onwards, the crit/stun build only works somewhat, as anything ranged will oneshot you before you can freeze them. Complete overkill from blizzard imo, if it was >20k that was needed that would easily have been enough, but this is just ridiculous.

I mean...they did promise Inferno was going to be seriously difficult and that it should take a LONG time for people to clear. Maybe we just have to wait and keep trying to farm better and better gear in hell and the early parts of Inferno.

Crit build is still working for me through Act 2, you just need some Vit now. It's still really overpowered compared to every other class (esp. melee) but now it's possible to actually die.

Definitely works in Act II, it does not in Act III. Or rather I should say, if you have enough crit you can handle most melee groups since you should be able to permafreeze them, however you will be oneshotted by everything no matter what, so only five or so normal ranged units are insane.

So you're getting one-shotted in A3? What's your HP/Defensive stats looking like? I may have to upgrade my gear from what I was using while leveling (got rushed through the game after giving up on my first char, stacked +exp/vit gear) but that's not a big deal. Almost done with A2.

About 27k hp, 50k with Diamond Skin, 4,2k armor, 300 resistances.

i think i might have to give up on DPS wizard and going full tank disable.... else there is no freaking way im surviving in inferno now. Also, time to free up diamond skin for an extra spells.

well, if you get really good vita on a wizard, force armor can still make it work, although far less well than prenerf.

force armor effectively lets you survive hits with a nominal damage of up to 2 times your max hp.
so if you, for example, get 30k hps, you can survive all hits of up to 60k damage.

obviously not gonna save your from the super tough bosses or if you get inside a large pack of ranged units, but its better than nothing.

I used this build on my wizard for all of Inferno act 1: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#alYORX!fTU!cZZYba (can't remember who was the first one to show me this exact build but credit to him)

It is a very defensive build built on kiting4eva. It's not got much dps since there are no damage boosting skills so I had to switch it out for ol' Patchwerk but worked very well with a bit of practice. It can deal with most elites though some combinations are pretty fucking hard (fast or vortex I'm looking at you).

I haven't tried it in Act 2 and beyond and I've since switched my build to a much more offensive build, but hang in there with it and you might find you like it.

It at least lets you survive some stuff that would otherwise obliterate you so it's still the best armor spell.

Very well then, I guess our common goal is to find the next best thing, which in this case would be to find a build where you never get hit, since we seemingly can't survive getting shot anymore. There are some decent kiting builds I've seen, and the Crit/Stun build works against all melee, but not ranged. Neither of these are very solid anymore.

Off to experimenting in the calculator it seems

this new change, where FA is capped at 100% of my life, what does that mean?

so if i get hit for 100% i die, but if i get hit for less, max dmg is 35%?

it can reduce it to 100% life, aka if you have 6k hp it can only ''absorb'' 6k hp tops, if you have 30k then it will ''absorb'' 30k tops

lol thats my build, currently falling back on this. The main problem is there are a lot of mob attacks that are unavoidable which make kiting a bit useless. For example all the medusa in act 2 could just go invisible and they are completely invulnerable to your slow/stun. Another problem is Damage overtime really hurts quite a bit..... Gosh, the most painful thing is now i have to re buy all my gears and price of every single Vit + Int are going up sky rocket......... JEZUZ

Yeah, high hp + force armor = at least you don't go down instantly.

So theoretically if you get high enough health pool > monster attack, then you never take any damage, as your FA absorbs up to 100% of your health? That large of a health pool is probably impossible though.

like someone said, the exploit was the fact you could have 4k life and regen 2k+/sec

why not make it so that u reduce the effect of life gen, like make it you need 20khp or so for the 35% dmg to work
then you can't insta regen life to tank, you would have to run around

edit: feel sry for those who spent so much on no vit gear lol, lucky for me i didn't fully commit to it

now wiz needs armor + hp..
