Hi teamliquid again. I'm in a situation on my demon hunter now that I'm not sure what gear to upgrade next. I've been just farming steady and upgrading, no huge drops yet. So if you can give me some advice on where I should continue upgrading my gear next anf point out some bad gear that I might have I wouldbappreciate it. Thanks http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Leijona-2885/hero/3339923

In the damage calculator my random 1373 dps 600k xbow does more damage than 10-15m manticores with gem. I guess sustained damage isn't as important? Edit: Another random question while I'm at it! I see Ball Lightning getting suggested and I'm currently using it to great effect. Why am I using this and not nether tentacles? Does all mobs have significant higher resist against regular damage than against lightning? The % damage and aoe are otherwise the same. sustained is always better. its just because most people are noobs. spreadsheet should govern all of your purchases. its because people liek to follow the trend and crit damage is a 'sexy' stat.

Besides, I have no slots I can remove atm to give room to Gloom.. :-/ Maybe I'm extremely blind, but you're not using Tactical Advantage...so Smokescreen gives no movement speed at all. And if you are using TA, then Vault also gives movement speed. No idea what his Crit Stat is (or yours), but a 1150 single socket Manticore with 180 Dex cost me ~6mil, and gave me a lot more damage than a no dex, no crit Xbow with high damage. And I have 46.5% Crit (+7 for Multishot).

Nether has smaller AoE and doesn't deal more damage (it does 2x ball lightning-damage per tick, but only hits every enemy once, while Ball Lightning hits every enemy two consecutive times at least, even more often for the larger enemies). Just swap Ball Lightning for NT and check what feels more smooth for you. Don't get confused by the hihger numbers of NT, tho. Ball Lightning damage is split on two ticks.

Though I will say, after running vault with TA it's hard going back to not having it. :p

For those who would like to upgrade your DH on a budget of 150mn, i have a few tips for you ![]() This is me: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Sun-1894/hero/18938946 (ammy is not updated yet..) Overall, 1) Nat's Set: If you don't already have, it would be your first buy. The market is currently flooding with Nat Set as i guess a lot of DHs are switching to Barbs. Start your search for Cloak by DEX > 80, VIT > 40, AR > 40, and a specific skill dmg > 10%, mine costs only 11mn. For the Boot, go for DEX>90, VIT>90, AR>70 and mine costs 25mn. For the ring, go for ATK SPD=9%, DEX>80, VIT>80, and %Life as %Life is still under-priced, mine costs 20mn. 2) Manticore: Go for 2-socket no matter what, it is the only point for buying a manticore. Pricing is very competitive so dont expect a huge saving here. Start your search by DEX>160, CD>85 and try to fish for ones with as high dps as possible from your budget. Mine costs 45mn. 3) Vile Ward: Frankly, i expect price for Vile Ward to drop dramatically as the stats are very standardized. Wait for a while until the weekends to see a flood of postings and fish for ones with DEX>170, VIT>70, AR>70, LIFE REGEN>300, mine costs 16mn. 5) Andariel's Visage: I think this is not the best helm for DHs, but i get it because it looks cool. Prices are going to drop quick on this one too. Focus on ATK SPD = 9%, FIRE DMG RECEIVED < 15%, a few millions should get you one- 4) Glove: Interestingly, best value to find here is go for defensive stats on gloves, with high DEX>150 and AR>50 and CC>8.5. Mine only costs 800k, but if you can also look for one with CD for a few millions. 5) Amulet: Mine is CC 8.5%, CD 85%, DEX 90, LIFE% 4 and i paid for this 19mn. This is the part you can potential save a lot of money. Do not start your search for CC 9% and CD 90% like other noobs do, search for CC 8.5%, CD 85% and you will be surprised how big the price difference is. Then focus your search for defensive stat like %Life or AR or VIT, if you lucky you may find something really good only for 20mn. 6) Belts and Pants: In theory Inna's set is the best here but i find that the stats on Inna's set is too offensive. If you only have 150mn budget, i would not spend 50mn on Inna's set as priority but rather, go for defensive stat here: DEX>150, VIT>70, AR>60 / % Life. Normally things are very cheap here. So in total my upgrade costs 156mn with the 2 gems on the manticore (24mn). I can easily farm mp6 solo without dying once and potentially go for high mps in group play. DPS: 166k w/o ss Health: 52k AR: 300 Phy.Resist: 450 Hopefully this will give you a sense of how to spend your money for the best value and build towards a well-balanced DHs. If you like more tips or do quests tgt, feel free to add me ingame: Sun#1894. Cheers and good luck for AH hunting!

I actually feel that Manticores are price worthy if you buy the recently listed ones. There are decent Manticores in abundance getting listed on the AH every hour and thus you can get a really cheap one if you're looking at the right time. As for high dps crossbows, they are only listed a few times per hour ---> difficult to find a bargain. This is what I've experienced at least. On another topic, I'm feeling a bit stuck on my gear atm. Got about 15 million at my disposal, and is wondering what i should go for next. http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/PaNiC-1970/hero/691501

Ofc they can be BiS weapons, but a sub 1100 dps manticore gets Out dpsed quite easily by high dps rares with crit and a socket.

The rest of your equip has kind of the right stats and is just missing a bit better rolls or another suffix. Your Helmet is too defensive for my taste, but it's taste. Of course you can just follow the guide for 150mn above, very easy way to improve your char ![]()

Editing this out because a lot of my gear has changed, but I will say I like how legendary loot is now you can get set pieces and bonuses for really cheap now, but pieces that rolled wanted affixes are still rare.

I totally agree 2OS menticores are over-priced, but however if you buy a rare, the price is going to drop much faster than the manticore as a hell lot of people are still switching from rares to a 2OS manticore. In case of store of value, 2OS manticore is not so bad imo.

For example, if you're gonna buy a vile ward with <200 dex and some vit, it's much cheaper to get a rare with similar stats (unless you really value that life regen and extra armor). The only reason you'd get a vile ward is because it can roll over 200 dex. This completely, don't like the advice given up there.

I just started playing my demon hunter again and have ~150 mil to gear with (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Mierin-1506/hero/6016468) but I'm not really sure where to start - I got an Inna's chest earlier to drop that I am currently using but otherwise gear is the same as on armory.
