What's the deal with people saying Hungering is still uncontested best for hatred regen? Hungering: 195% damage if it pierces once. Evasive: 375% damage if you hit 3 targets (which is not uncommon considering elite groups are usually 4 or more mobs) Please enlighten me on what I'm missing. Devouring Arrow averages 284% damage, has much longer range, and is much, much stronger against single targets. Plus it's easier to use, which is somewhat relevant. Evasive Arrow will never hit 3 targets frequently enough to deal more average damage. You sure about the range? Pretty sure I'm hitting targets on the VERY edge of my screen with Evasive. In addition, its not a missile attack, so monsters will often be staggered a bit faster than with Hungering, allow me some extra yards of distance. Don't agree with you about not hitting 3 targets frequently enough though, since most elites (especially melee ones) tend to clump up. I see the argument about single target though.
I wouldn't say HA is straight up better than EF but I know many people, including myself, that don't use EF just cause the backflip is annoying. In terms of damage output, the consistency of EF is so much better than Devouring once you have higher damage. Elites and Bosses melt against your hatred dump no matter what hatred generator you use. When you're using Devouring against trash mobs, you're losing a lot of DPS by over killing by a a billion damage. But, Critical Spray vs EF is arguable.

Super-fresh 60 DH, just vaulted my way thru Hell and put on some of my Monk's gear and Budget Nat's Set. Enjoy my current built running around then laying a trap and kiting when I find something nasty. Any tips/gear recommendations welcome.
Currently plan on upgrading amulet/ring first with crit dmg of some sort, then gloves and weapon once I figure out how much LOH I feel I need. (reflect dmg and all)

Not sure about your budget, but given the fact that you have so much survivability in Nats set I'd prolly switch out those legs pretty fast. Then maybe gloves, since they offer only low DEX and IAS + some MF. Also your rare ring is pretty bad, as it offers only 79 DEX and socket as dmg stats.
I see you have some life on hit on atleast 3 items. Don't bother with it at all, since you're using a 2h Xbow and have 4 piece Nats. You can probably perma-gloom through every Reflect Pack.
I'd also consider forgoing the socket on Xbow, and buying a 1250-1300 dps Xbow for like 5 mill. They have really dropped alot in price.

Yea, I was thinking LoH was kind of bad for the slow attacks, but I didn't have any other form of heal. Does gloom heal enough in Inferno or should it be supplemented by weapon leech/regen/loh. I liked finding a 500 regen chest for my other classes to have something, but stuck with Nat's for DH. Plan to run with some MF to pre-gimp myself to face Diablo. Was curious if anyone had expierence with cold damage from Stone of Jordan's. I know my buddy (who quit months ago) kept wanting cold damage bows but couldn't find them. Does the cold damage add to elemental arrow or negated?
I will probably see how the 1.04 weapon market runs out with what I expect to be a huge selection of rares crafted etc, or when everyone drops theirs for that shiny new Windforce or whatnot.

Gloom is great, it scales as your damage goes up and gives you a lot of damage reduction/survivability - especially vs reflect. Also the +cold/poison/fire damage affixes applies to your overall damage, not just that specific elemental type, so it's actually a significant dps boost.

Using gloom alone for everything is fine.Extra LOH is not needed. Your hp is on a low side though, so i wouldn't recommend diving into groups of mobs facetanking stuff act 1-2 as of yet. Just kite while attacking elites, and if they get close, use gloom/SS depending on situation and it should go fine.

Cool, I'm just coming from a barb/monk world where LoH was le-über. Currently running with SS but will try gloom next.
My cold damage question stems more from the side of IF it will apply the tiny snare to mobs hit by it. I know on my monk with a cold damage SOJ, the enemies I hit were "chilled" with Fists of Thinder (phys+lit dmg) but have since sold that item :-(

oh, not sure, but I would think so. By the way, most people use both gloom and SS.

uhh no. devouring arrow averages 235% damage. ef auto seeks targets so any good dh will hit at least 2 targets which is already 250% damage and it's getting buffed in 1.0.4 unlike HA. also long range is irrelevant for many dh that run cluster arrow which is a mid-range hatred spendor. it's also a better hatred generator, has built in vault, does instant damage and more consistent damage.

but for those of us that like to stand off screen and blast shit with hungering arrow, evasive fire isn't really a viable option.

Evasive Fire is great until you meet a Phase Beast! You shoot cause they're in front of you, you auto back flip, next thing you know POOF! they are behind you! SLASH! You're dead!
This is my whole experience in act 3 after siege. Oh and Soul Lasher those licking monster, Evasive Fire doesn't play well with them either.
All in all though, I'm excited to see how Evasive Fire will get buff in the next patch! Maybe it will become the new Hungering Arrow!

Not sure if this has been discussed but does anyone know if they are changing post patch nats bonuses?
I've been hearing all sort of things on how the new nats won't have disc per second, to be honest, I think it's just a scam to boost current nats prices, but you never know...

They mentioned it as soon as 1.03. came out, that 2 disc per second wanst intended, but they were going to let it at that for now until next patch. So now that the next patch is about to hit they might as well change it back. How does this boost current nat prices? The disc reg comes from a bonus, buying the items now wont keep it.

1.04 Nat Set bonus is up on diablofans, I can't read since im on a cellphone heh.
But looks like each peice will have 2x the stats, dunno the bonuses.
|
Check out diablo fans for the new items stats and skill!
Stats on each of the nat's pieces like doubled! It doesn't list the set bonuses though. I really hope the old set doesn't become useless. Worried if I sell now or wait?
Evasive fire damage increased but every time you do a backflip now it will cost you 15 discipline. Lame!

If you sell now, what if the new set bonus doesn't give you the +2 regen?! The. Old set prices will sky rocket! I'm just worried they are bumping the stats to compensate for the regen.

yeah the most important info about nats is still missing it seems :D
