Hey all I previously had a monk, and post patch rolled a DH for fun I managed to score a xbow with 970dps +115 dex 65% AND a socket for 10mil BUT i want to upgrade it to one of those 1200 dps soc sxbows with stats
My question is with 29% base crit chance and the above bow, Would a 1200 XBOW with same dex + socket (losing 65% crit chance) be much better than my current?
Any help would be nice THANKS
also the slow attk speed of a xbow is kinda annoying. whats the tradeoff between bow and xbow? (I know stats but looking for general advice)

@TheMango. you wouldn't be the same Mango playing the Broodwar manager game are you?

Already have girlfriend so i dont care :D..but hell yeah i want to rambo all shit.. i'm really really sad right now ty btw

(I know stats but looking for general advice) Even if you have no other crit damage gear and are going to use flawless squares in the socks, the 1200dps xbow would still give you 6% higher damage without sharpshooter. If we assume that you're instead using 60% crit damage gems, the sharpshooter passive and got a total of 50% crit damage from the rest of your gear, then the 970 xbow will do 1% more damage with sharpshooter fully loaded and the 1200 xbow will do 9.5% more damage with no sharpshooter. However, if you're not using sharpshooter you'd get even more out of going for a pure damage xbow with no sockets and no dexterity. In fact, dexterity is a bad mod no matter what skills you're using.
Edit: Your post is both saying that your original weapon is an xbow, and that it is a bow. If we instead assume that it's a bow, then it's probably the better weapon but it would depend on the +%crit damage on the rest of your gear and whether you use sharpshooter or not.

Any advice on how I should start upgrading my gear? I have about 13 million on hand another 5-6 million that some people owe me.
Most of the gear upgrades seem to be either really really minor (under 500 dps) or stupidly expensively (good ring/amulets). I've been mostly farming A1/A2 cycling specs to keep it interesting - Weapon is a 1030.4 DPS bow.

Getting that on gloves or rings would probably be the cheapest upgrade. Getting 6% crit chance on your Bracers might also be a good upgrade.

What If I have 41% crit rate already? Sharpshooter seems meaningless and I cant really drop the passives without hurting somewhere - Night Stalker, Take Aim and Archery

People frequently put up items worth 1M-10M for less than 100k. They're there if you want to spend the time refreshing the AH... I know its not the most exciting thing but you might think it's worth it if you really want a nice upgrade.

I'm trying to avoid IAS, I was IAS stacked prior to the nerf and as I transition to other gear I feel that IAS was actually pretty poor for both the heavy burst and kiting style, seems to be a very poor stat and all IAS is really good for is big numbers in character screen. My opinion might change if I ever find a good xbow to play with or experient with gloomtank/loh builds but with a bow the quiver ias is more than enough for my needs.

Try using a damage calculator if you don't know the formulas. Google found me this one which seem to be working correctly. Although the interface isn't explained so you have to guess the correct entry format. If you don't use Sharpshooter it's easy to calculate how a new piece of gear would effect your dps.

thanks for the detailed response, I think i confused you with my edit (mentioning the bow, it was a total unrelated issue). both weapons previously mentioned were xbows, and i'm using the link you provided to calcualte dps loss/gains which is super helpful considering there are too many variables to account for with these kinds of things.

anyone got any good DH champs/elites routes for a3?

What are people's thoughts on ball lightning vs cluster bomb vs loaded for bear? I can't really get used to cluster bombs projectile, and loaded for bear doesn't go through waller. Ball lightning seems to be a lot less nukey so reflect damage will likely be an issue.

Hey guys, couple questions: Is Act 1 or 3 a better bet to farm right now? I haven't tried Act3 in a while, last time I did was pre-nerf with like 40k DPS and I got pwned. I'm now up to 90k. Think that's enough? Or should I stick to farming Act1?

Is that with ss or without? I think if you can kill and find elites half the speed of act1 its still worth to farm act3. I say its roughly around the 90-100k mark

I'm at 93k with SS maxed out. I switched Ball Lightning for Loaded for Bear last night and pretty much 1 shot most mobs in Act1 now. I'm just thinking I might be capable of bigger and better things than butcher runs.

I would practice on softcore to get the timings right for the clone spawns and when to SS, other than that, its pretty straight forward - dont let him get into melee range, SS right away or you will get a DoT on you that will most likely kill you. (If you get a DoT on you, you have to chain SS to prevent taking damage until you can get to a health fountain), and don't get grabbed by his cages (sometimes you can survive if you get grabbed by mashing SS and hope you get it off in time). You want as much +discipline as possible, and probably vault as well. At the same time, dont stay too far off screen or he teleports to you. I would get the following skills: Mark of Death - Mortal Enemy SS - Lingering Vault - Tumble or Acrobatics Prep - Backup Plan Left click - Hungering - Devouring Right click - Impale - Grievous Wounds Passives: Tactical Advantage, Steady Aim, Perfectionist Some people have had success with Rain of Vengeance - Flying strike to use on the clones, but I dont think it's necessary. Another option may be Shadow Power - Gloom if your DH is tanky enough just beat hell diablo on hardcore. thanks <3 now i'll go on and get one shotted by some bat, watch.

Blergh so is the value of gold dropping super quickly? Am currently using a 2hand xbow with 930ish dps, and lots of vit, str, int, which I know doesn't do much other than give me hp (of which I have far more than I need) and some extra resistance. I bought that bow for like..100k I think, and I really have liked it for inferno act 1/some of act 2. However I want to upgrade, and looking through AH, there are a lot of bad bows on there, and the decent ones are not worth what people charge for them..prob have a mil to spend on a good bow, should I just wait for the right bow at the right price? Silly game..

I have a question. So I have a demon hunter and I'm using elemental arrow (frost rune) and marked for death (valley of death) which is a rune that lets me place a 12 yard circle anywhere I want and mobs in it will take +12% damage. So the thing is, frost arrow splits into multiple arrows after the primary target. If the primary target is standing in the marked for death area, and the arrow splits off and hits someone outside of the circle, does it still do +12% damage?
Also does the same idea apply to crits, if the primary target is crited, are the other targets crited as well?
EDIT: and another question, if i use entangling shot (slow) and elementary arrow (with frost that slows enemies) so the slow's combine or not?
