How can you trust HER sc opinion on anything? With Artosis i looked at code a with something to learn from, but now it is ruined, code a is just entertainment to me now and no more a learning experience. | ||

My problem is as a broadcaster your job is to basically tell the story of what is happening on screen. If you cannot understand the caster it really hurts the quality of the stream. There are many jobs where a thick accent is not a problem but when your key job is to speak clearly and describe the action. As for the game insights that can be learned and acquired and everyone makes mistakes so I cannot complain about that. I am sure at some point everyone was at the same level of knowledge and it improved so I am not worried about her game knowledge. I hope her well in the rest of the Code A season, but honestly the most important thing about a caster is being able to understand them and unfortunately FOR ME that is very difficult | ||

I'm willing to give it a chance, but judging from watching some of her other casting ventures, I don't think there is a whole lot of room for growth here. I feel like GOM really made a mistake. There are so many quality casters out there that I'm sure would love the opportunity to cast the GSL. Instead the opt for this, frankly, obnoxious girl who is cleraly not very skilled at the game and prouduced input that was often flat out wrong. I'm just trying to figure out what they were going for. The whole "she's cute" thing I guess. But most of the time she isn't on camera, and the quality of her vocal contributions is really sub-par. | ||

John would be awesome, so would Torch, loads of casters would do anything to be put up in Korea to cast the GSL. Anyone who can speak English that can be understood by the masses and has a mid level knowledge of the game. | ||

But really she went way beyond her means. Tasteless points out in the beginning that she's going to be doing play-by-play and it's obvious they had ideas queued up to have her provide value by providing good information. But in the end she tried to be analyst, play-by-play, and comedian all at the same time and I think it's a maturity thing. I really hope GOM gets their act together and finds better replacements at some point, but if she scaled back and talked A LOT less and just sat there and looked pretty like she was designed for the quality would get a lot better. It would actually probably be better if almost everything she said was completely scripted. She needs to focus on one thing and be really good at it because she does not have the verbal skills to improvise. | ||

I went into last nights cast expecting a train wreck, but instead I was thoroughly amused. I couldn't help but rofl at 4am in the morning at how bad some moments were, but the laughing actually put me in a good mood. With that I kept a neutral standpoint on Kelly as I told myself I would and watched the entire night. Compared to her previous casts, Kelly talked slower and I could really see effort on her part. She went into the games with information on what was good/bad/expected on the new maps, the number of expansions and other little details I thought were great. I have no doubt she and Tasteless did some homework (there was picture proof!) to prepare for the cast. At times she did talk a little much, leaving Tasteless with no word in. Synergy is something that can be improved upon though. Sometimes she made jokes that flew completely over Tasteless' head, making me rofl even more. At the end of the cast I realized that I understood most of what Kelly said and some pre emptive calls she made on builds/actions actually turned out to happen. For me, the casting turned out well. I don't think she did even half as bad as most people, myself included, were expecting. Her previous casts had me pulling my hair out trying to understand her, and while this one had me literally face-palming at some moments, I had a good time listening to Tasteless and Kelly. (iNcontroL, JP & on a smaller scale Idra also added to the nights fun. I had iNcontroL stream open in the background and they were hilarious as always.) The first day of Code A left me satisfied, so because of this I'm gonna go ahead and give her more time to improve. | ||

+ Show Spoiler + So GOM hired Kelly for whatever reasons (as a business I'm sure they made the best decision available to them for casting code A). Unfortunately a lot of people don't like that move because they don't like listening to Kelly talk. Here is the best solution without hiring/firing anyone. Use stereo sound. Tasteless/Artosis's mic on the left ear and Kelly's mic on the right ear. All other sound goes on both ears. If someone doesn't like a caster then they can take off that earphone. Sure they'll only get casting 50% of the time but it's better than muting the entire stream or putting up with a caster they can't stand. I would also like to note the following people are the only ones who will suffer from my solution that would not suffer under the current streaming method: people deaf in one ear who like both casters, cannot listen through speakers and have the inability to force their computers to export stereo sound as mono; English GSL casters who prefer to be hated rather than know there is a possibility their voice might not be heard by everyone watching the stream Seems like a pretty good idea to me. GOM gets to keep Kelly for whatever reasons they hired her, people that like her/can stand her get to continue listening to the cast with a slight nuisance the stereo sound might provide, and people that can't stand her still get to listen to game sounds + Artosis/Tasteless's commentary. So GOM staff comes out even, people who want to listen to Kelly get a slight nerf and anti-Kelly people get a huge buff. | ||

I know a lot of people on this forum play street fighter as well, and if any of you saw the Evolution stream for the ssf4 finals, they got some ass clown named Adam Sessler to commentate. It was because of some sponsorship deal and the guy had no clue what he was talking about. He had never even played the game before. Anyways this pretty much ruined the finals for me and I felt angry that the excitement was killed because of some bald headed assclown that didn't know anything about the game. I didn't feel this was the case with Kelly. She may have made mistakes but how many times have you seen tasteless call a unit by the wrong name, or watch his english turn to shit mid sentence? | ||

Anyway, besides that being very unprofessional I don't see GOM doing anything about Kelly this season. I'm sure she is on a season long contract or something along the lines. Hopefully GOM will listen to their customers and get a new caster for the April season, that's all we can really hope for. | ||

To me her biggest problem right now is respect within the community, which she will need to earn on her own. This is a game of intelligence and she needs to show that she has an understanding of the game. If she is able to do this, I think she will gain respect within the community. Jokes like "fast racing cars" doesn't really help her case that much... especially at the start. | ||
