She is not new to casting but still hasnt managed to develop a casting style that doesnt involve childish behaviour. Childish in the way that she cant connect her sentences without awkward breaks or uhhhs and that her thoughts and comments dont develop to anything more than 'ooh shiny' and are shallow. I guess that part of her act makes her popular compared to other similarily skilled male casters but shes a proffessional now and is way out of her depth. | ||

IMO she improved a lot between the video in the first post and the matches today and if this tendency continues it will be fine. Let's see how well she interacts with Artosis in the upcoming Code A matches. | ||

For me today really showed how skilled Tasteless is in incorporating her random ramblings and seemingly constant jokes about units talking the first person, "Oh no! Blue flame hellions they are like, going to burn me!" -marine#24. Though it wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be from listening to the Dota cast that was linked earlier in the thread as well as the one with TotalBiscuit. The other thing that got me about her commentating was that her specialty topic seems to be stating the goddamn bleeding obvious. She said on multiple occasions "... as you can see", well yes your right i can, the roaches are indeed attacking the stalkers. As you said a Childish level of casting. Tasteless did mention towards the end of the cast (I tuned out after Huk's games until the interviews because i was so pumped and happy that he had made it through) that Artosis was sick and that was why Kelly was casting and then mentioned that he would be back to cast code A on Wednesday. Im not sure if that is exactly what was said though and i can't watch the vods any one able to confirm? | ||

My main problem is that her insight in the game just isn't all that high. Most of it seems about gold/plat level and every time she goes beyond stating the totally obvious she gets things wrong. Now I'm far from a good player myself (barely low diamond), but I constantly find myself having a much better grasp of what is going on then Kelly. By contrast, ,when I listen to a caster who is Master League and plays actively, they are often able to point out all sorts of small details that I completely missed myself and that greatly increases my appriciation for the game. At the higher levels, games are often decided by small mistakes and small adaptations in strategy and being aware of that makes it so much better. All of a sudden I understand why player A had so many more units or why he won that one battle convincingly. And I need a good caster for that, because I'm not actually good enough to see all those little things myself (and this probably goes for 95%+ of viewers). Listening to Artosis cast has greatly increased my understanding of all the ZvX matchups and also made them a ton more fun to watch as a result since I can now actually follow some of the decisionn making. I really don't see Kelly doing the same to be honest. Now maybe I'm being overly critical, but we are talking about the biggest SC2 tournament and probably one of the best paid casting jobs for non-koreans in E-sports, so is it really that strange to expect the casters to really know exactly what they are talking about? | ||

The big problem is that she has already casted heaps and heaps of games at other big venues. They may be throwing her in a bunch of casts to improve chemistry, but I don't think there will be that much improvement beyond that. She is talking quite a bit during the game, which means she isn't shy or clamming up and is probably trying to cast the game as best as she can. The big factor here is her analytical grasp of the game. Artosis and Tasteless work so well together in a very Straight Man/Funny Man dynamic. Artosis brings a very high level of understanding that most mainstream viewers are going to need in order to understand the workings of the game, and not just what is happening on the screen. Tasteless has this to a certain extent, but his desire to be funny (which he does quite well) usually overrules this. Kelly's casting lacks depth. There were a couple of times where you could tell that Tasteless couldn't believe what she was saying because it was just kinda childish or silly. He would talk in the same voice that you do to children. Example: When she was talking about being a zergling and seeing a blue flame hellion on the street during TSL_Revival vs ZeNEXButterflyEffect game 1. A part of me hopes that she does much better casting with Artosis, but I don't think he has the handling skills that Tasteless showed today. He was able to convert a lot of drops from Kelly into something salvageable, and as talented as Artosis is, I don't think he has that same level of skill. It's going to be the difference of Tasteless repeating and rewording something she said, and Artosis ignoring it. I hope I am wrong on this though. All in all, her casting today was decent. I hope that they are able to sit down with her and help her improve and get her to the next level that she needs to be at. | ||

She did imho show pretty good game sense. She actually made quite a lot of correct calls I think. What she failed at, was knowing what some things were called. Which leads me to think she might not be playing the english version of SC2 all the time? Anyway, her accent is still annoying to me. But I got used to it. I think it's a thing about english not being my native language. Overall, I'd say she was quite decent, and if she improves a fair bit more, I think I will find it enjoyable - if not as enjoyable as day9 or the casting archon, still fine. Better than I feared to be honest. | ||

It's just kellymilkies.tumblr.com now, which is still inappropriate if you want any kind of career outside of porn. So you know, fuckslit is a crude name for the vagina, while milkies is a crude name for breasts. She appears to be desperate to let people know she's female. Most transsexuals/GID folks are less desperate to advertise their gender. | ||
