A good Tasteless replacement for the more formal talking points and assistance...definitely not an Artosis replacement. I say replacement because obviously they aren't going to be tag teaming her forever so she'll take the place of one of them in Code A (if she isn't fired). They'll need a pro to be with her, though.
Besides all the other issues that may have gotten in the way (visa, scheduling, etc) I think they just really wanted a female face to put up on the screen and this was the best one they could find.
Lastly, am I the only one who noticed a tone in that announcement that seemed almost apologetic? Like they knew we were going to complain about this and were getting ready for it? Like how they mention they're still looking for the best caster, they had to find someone who met all these criteria that had nothing to do with their casting ability, etc, etc. Seemed strange.
Keep in mind the announcement was made after a huge outcry on these forums.
While i try to be as tolerant as humanly possible and ignore the fact that i cant understand half of what she is saying (and i am going to pay for the privelage) i just cant justify hiring someone so incompetent. Her lack of game knowledge is really mindblowing for me. I tried to watch some VOD on her youtube channel (the show with Eleine) and couldnt stop grinding my teeth. No insight whatsoever, stupid and obvious questions and giggling. This is not what i expect of the GSL. You can call me harsh and overly critical but the fact is she has a lot to learn before even considering applying for the job.
And i really hope somehow GOM could make it work, because they care, but i dont see how i could ever like her commentating.

Yes, the apologetic tone was really really strange. I think GSL crew read TL too much. But still, I guess it is their only source of foreign information, and since SC2 is pretty much dead in Korea (this could be debatable, this is my opinion (now I am behaving just like GOM)) they need the foreign viewers badly.
When I caught Kelly casting I actually enjoyed her quite a bit, because she was something else than the regular casters, and I think that is what GOM felt aswell. The problem occured when they realized the outcry of the foreign viewers, and that led to the apologetic tone. The whole outcry makes me really sick, give her a try (but maybe I just have a different taste, since I can not stand day9, and for me, Artosis is the best caster I have experienced since Cholera ).
I think the first word she should work on is the word "English", which she pronounces "Engrish". Ironic isn't it? The new English speaking caster can't even pronounce the word English
The best part about this interview..
"Nick and I have been talking for a bit, and he is going to guide me when I am there. I am definitely excited to cast with the both of them. I am ready to take pointers from them and improve infinitely as a caster."
Sexual innuendos commence. Either way, I hope Nick helps her because I think if Artosis got a hold of her..it would be one dead nerd. Best of luck to everyone. O_O
I can understand her just fine when she speaks slowly. It's when she gets excited and talks fast that I have trouble making sense of what she's saying.
So really, all she has to do is try and speak slowly and she'll be just fine in my eyes. Here's hoping she can prove the haters wrong.

If you can't understand her globalize yourself a bit. The only excuse you have for not understanding her is if English is not your native language. If this is the case you might want to lobby for casters in your native language instead of bashing the English one.
Please explain how I'm meant to 'globalize' myself? I live in Australia, a multicultural although mainly English speaking country. I can speak fluent English and it is my native language. Please tell me how many native English speakers can understand the first 15 seconds of this
This is to a global audience who is paying to watch quality games, not paying for a commentator that is so hard to understand.
I could comprehend that! But yeah, even to a fellow countryman like me, I had to concentrate a little in order to decipher her words because it was a bit too fast and excitable to be comprehensible.
It's all about practice, I guess. Not all Singaporeans speak that way. :\
Really you could understand that? I'm Singaporean and I couldn't understand anything from the first 15 seconds ... Think even HD Phoenix wouldve been a better choice, he's Singaporean too isn't he?

Not sure I can agree with you. She literally pronounces the word "English" as "Engrish".... That in itself is pretty bad and speaks volumes on what we are to expect.

That statement doesn't do Phoenix justice at all. He is on a completely different level, 100x more understandable, more pleasant to listen to and is conveying more useful information than her. I wonder why he didn't apply and it almost makes me sad. Maybe he was too humble, something which can't really be said for kelly either.
I saw one game the other night where it she really had no clue what was really going on in the match where it was so very clear that toss was about to roflstomp zerg and she just kept talking making ridiculous judgements and off the wall predictions that never came close to happening. I know that there are definitely moments in games where its easy to be surprised by wild events but she really did an awful job.
Heres to hoping she proves me wrong and makes code A halfway decent to watch
EDIT: After thinking about it more I'm thinking yeah she sucks and bad move GOMtv... lol
She has huge shoes to fill and like many others I am not sure she can fill them. From what I've seen of her the casting quality hasn't been up to par to what I am used to but if she can step up her game yeah I could listen to her and be happy.
Worse comes to worse she'll be the jp to day9 in the casting relationship(note thats not a swing at jp I think he's awesome) and be the less learned but still providing useful information of the casting pair.
Oh well, if she works really hard on her English, and pay attention to what Artosis/Tasteless have to say, she might be ok. Just by watching her casts on youtube, I have to say I don't understand much of what she says.
