I agree they need to shrink the maps a little.
Any word on what the unknown map is yet?

Would be awesome. Scrap Station be pulled too should be fine !

Terminus Re looks really interesting for PvZ given that if you Forge F/E the third is basically free, maybe a rise of 2 nexus before gate? :o

I have played both the GSL maps and the ICCUP maps and i haev got to say that I like ICCUP much more. Just because they are bigger doesn't mean all the problems are gone. Garden of Aiur is almost as bad as jungle basin pvz instead of zerg not being able to get a fourth now they can't stop toss from getting a deathball. Even though i support iccup and I know their staff will listen to top players anything is better than the current blizzard maps that never change!

Iccup maps are poorly done. They have ramp issues where it takes more buildings to wall off and you have to kind of relearn how to play.

Just because they have different ramp sizes and players need to adapt their play depending on the map (like in broodwar) doesn't make it a bad thing at all. Infact forcing players to change thier styles/builds for different maps will make it a more interesting game.

Finally. I think the quality of those maps isn't the main reason to rejoice here. The simple fact that GOM change maps is an important step for all sc2 esports The biggest sc2 tournament is pretty much saying : "blizzard you maps sucks". Other tournaments should follow and probably use gsl maps, and in time, the ladder map pool should become more flexible. That's what matter
And as far as I'm concerned i do like these maps which reflect the kind of game i wish to see more in sc2 in the future, since they seem to be more macro oriented. But obviously cheesy or allin players could be a bit disapointed. The only remaining question is the balance of those maps, but that should take time to be evaluated.

This is really great news, tried the maps and they look awesome, wish some small online tournament uses them to check how they play in high level.

Something I have just noticed about TerminusRe is that there are Rich Vespene Geysers, there is only one of them at a base.

It also looks different to a normal vespene geyser.

6 vespene gas is returned instead of the usual 4.
:o

Is there anyway to download and start playing on theses maps?

Oh i thought the rich vespene geysers had fucked up pathing but looks like i'm wrong

These maps look huge!
Seems to be good but I'm still concerned since starcraft 2 lacks a lot of units that can be microed to change a battle outcome. So with maps being so big it will just be a 200/200 battle over and over again with Zerg having a slight advantage due to saving up larvae and being able to reinforce really quick. The 300 food push as day9 calls it.
Other than that 200/200 battles will eventually get repetitive.
But aside from those small concerns it's great that GSL is listening and making changes to make Starcraft 2 more entertaining to watch. Which will help solidify it into a more mainstream e-sport like Starcraft: Brood War.
Good news either way!! :D

While this is cool, the sad reality for me is that I won't actually get to play these matches since all my friends that played SC2 are playing WoW and I'm stuck laddering only with the Blizzard map pool.
