edit: I'm not 100% positive about these specific maps though. Not familiar with map features etc. Hey, why don't you have a 256x256 map where a Zerg can make a million drones without ever being punished for it. That's a great idea, eh? It promotes so much strategy!
As you imply there are limits, but I was not thinking of such extremes. I agree with the fact that some maps CAN be too big. But given the state of the game and the seemingly fast paced gameplayof Sc2, I'm quite confident. Hopefully time will tell.

Hell yea thats fucking awesome. I am really glad they are taking the reigns to use new maps. The blizzard ones are so shitty.

Auir Garden looks beautiful i think it will make for good Macro games. i dont really like crossfire u spawn to far apart for a 2 player map and i dont like how it's so vertical
|
That's strange, I can hear Handel's Messiah playing in the background. Here's hoping some of these end up on the ladder if they're good.

Big news. Crossfire is great, and I am looking forward to seeing games on it (I don't understand the hate is receiving in this thread -- all seemingly directed at the backdoor rocks). Of the custom maps, Amoroso looks really good and may be a keeper. I do not think the other two look particularly good, but if they end up playing bad, new maps will take their place, so thumbs up. Maps really are holding back sc2 right now, and this will hopefully set a positive precedent for other tournaments.

I'm exited for the change but the issues worrying me are as monitor says. In BW zerg couldn't stockpile 100 lava when maxed for an instant re-max after they lost their army. Protoss couldnt warp in units anywhere on the map for instant reinforcements/defense. Terran's couldnt stockpile OC's for rediculous late game income and then sacrifice their SCV's for an extra sized max army.
Time will tell...

Aw yea, Blizz should put these on the ladder too.

I just got done playing games with my brother on Tal darim and Aiur garden and they are pretty interesting maps. I definitely like the size of them, it feels much more like BW, however the expansion behind base in Aiur garden makes it a little strange.
My comments below apply to the Aiur Garden that is currently on NA server, which is actually DIFFERENT than the one on the front page of this thread (it has a third right outside the main while the one on this thread doesn't)
Tal darim played a pretty good game, but with Aiur garden I felt there was very little i could do ZvT because Terran can expand incredibly fast in that map, it was litteraly we both start off with 2 bases then both expand to third , then i can double expand to fourth and fifth while he gets his fourth, but still zerg 5 base is not really enough to combat terran 4 base, and I tried to harass and prevent or slow down his bases but wasn't really capable of doing it in this map due to how close expansions are to each other (on NA server) Terran turtle can easily get mass expos (feels similar to Delta Quadrant), however it will be interesting to see what pros do, maybe there will be some gimmicks that can be pulled off to prevent terran from mass expanding.

It is about time for new maps. These look fun too.

Wow. These actually look like good maps. That last one in particular looks like, twice as big as what I expected when I saw the top portion of the picture.
Aiur Garden looks.. beautiful.
Would have like to see ICCup get in on the action, though ]:

Just watched a great TvZ on Taldarim Altar between IMLosira and an unknown, the map size did not detract from the action at all.
oh, and the outcome was unexpected

If you've ever played a large custom map in SC2 at a relatively high level, it'd be relatively obvious. Even the Grand Line conversion I made that was 140x140 was farrrrr too big. Zerg had a ridiculous advantage on the map because of the size, and that was even before the 1.1 patch nerfed Terran. Anything at that size level or above is too big, unless they have some radical concept that subverts it. Unfortunately, none of the maps shown here do.

OHHH MY GAWWDDDD YESSSSS Finally.

i think we should wait for more testing before jumping to too many conclusions

these maps aren't perfectly balanced, especially biohazard. but a step up from steppes, and delta. Good to see somebody's making new maps, unlike blizz

If jungle basin is map #4 for removal, I will be one happy starcraft player.
