How do we know he really punched that guy?
whats wrong with telling Wally to play some D? thats nothing to complain about.
Are you seriously focusing on Calderon's part in the altercation when KG was running down the court sticking his finger in his face and yelling at him? Do we need to get into his going down on all fours and acting like a dog in the middle of a game?
You're right, we don't know if the rumors/allegations about KG punching teammates are true. There's plenty of stuff that is confirmed that indicates he's a punk.
What's wrong with Wally telling KG to call out screens? If you're accepting that story as possible true, then how does being told to call out screens an excuse for a sucker punch?
Sure, KG is a great player, but you're just fooling yourself if you deny that he's got some problems with his attitude, particularly since he got his first ring last year. He has exhibited inexcusably disrespectful and malicious behavior on the court, and there are many undeniable examples of it (Youtube alone, provides many examples). If KG ever does get knocked on his ass, I can assure you that the only fans that will be upset will be Boston fans, while the rest will be glad he finally got his come-uppance.

lol come on Cyric, Calderon was clearly in the wrong there. Why is he complaining to the refs and disrupting the flow of the game?
ah yea I forgot about the part where KG sucker punched him, whoops ^_^. If it was purely verbal I wouldn't have thought it was that serious.
and I doubt most of those KG allegations are true...why? There was an ESPN poll by the players and coaches done and on it KG was #1 for "best teammate to have". I don't think he's as disliked as you think. I've never even heard this stuff pop up frequently.

I'm hoping that this is sarcasm.

Can you link to this poll, or at least cite it, and when was it taken? Most of what people dislike about Garnett is what he does to opposing teams' players, not his own (although bringing Big Baby to tears wasn't exactly supportive). His disrespect towards his opponents wouldn't bother his teammates as much since it's directed at others. Lastly, if you've never heard about KG being disliked or criticized for his disrespectful actions this season, then you just haven't been paying attention. It's been discussed in various articles, blogs, ESPN itself, PTI, etc. It got so bad he even released a statement trying to defend himself and his teammates (as I said, there's a trickle-down effect). Moreover, he's been getting criticized from various sources for his behavior in the BOS-CHI series while on the bench! You know he's got a problem when he's able to offend people while being injured and not even playing.

let's go dallas let's go *clap clap*
|
^ dallas rofl.
And KG is a fag who only does it to small guards. I would like to see him harass Artest or Dwight Howard or Lebron. I have to agree that if a very hard foul that injures Garnett would happen I would be an Instant fan of the guy who did it.

and wow. check this out:
that is the best angle that i have seen by far. Closed fist on the head, not a flagrant foul, yeah. GJ NBA.
|
|
Yeah I have gotten over it I just happened to see that pic while reading through cyric's links. I didnt know it was a closed fist. I just indicated how good NBA officials and the guys who reviewed it are. Boston gonna get trashed by Orlando anyway.
|
nothing wrong with going for the underdogs and i hate jr smith so dallas was an obvious choice
edit: too bad they lost
|
I'm starting to lose respect for KG. Wow, he does alot of cheap shots on guys

Mark Cuban's response to the dress code is what I think of this KG is a bully talk. (People should be complaining about his setting moving screens, or his I know lots of defensive tricks that refs can't see comment) http://blogmaverick.com/2005/10/19/nba-dress-code-response-to-reader-comments/
Watch the pregame of NFL games. They have talked to coaches about plays. They talk about plays. They talk about defensive strategy. They talk about what will be run in which situations. Fans do the same. It makes watching the games a lot more fun.
What do we talk about before an NBA game ? ... Instead we get stupid ramblings like “so and so has got to step up and earn his money”. ...
I was watching the Mavs vs Detroit preseason game last night. Cliche after Cliche. Not a single bit of new information. ...Has anyone ever heard after a basket; “I expect the Mavs to run a thumbs down or horns sidein this situation. Detroit is probably expecting them to push the ball, so watch for the Pistons to use a send 4 to the Offensive boards and everyone else gets back when the ball goes up into a man to man, gold on the post, come on first dribble on an entry pass”. ... Instead we get mindless drivel about players. I know the game is fast and doesnt have the breaks that football has, but there is still time to discuss these things during stoppages and free throws ... I said it in the previous post, the Dress Code is a response to symptoms of bigger problems. The simplistic views people have of our players, is in response to our own stupidity in how we cover and report our games. On a macro level.
On an individual level. If you think NBA players, or any professional athlete that you never have had any interaction with is a thug. Then the problem is yours. You are an idiot.

I don't see how anything in that blog post is relevant to the KG discussion in this thread. People aren't labeling KG a thug because of what he wears or the way he speaks or any part of his image, etc. They're looking at how he's acted on the court and with his teammates and how he's conducted himself while injured and on the bench during the CHI-BOS series, and reached the logical conclusion that he has an attitude problem. The way he throws elbows during deadballs and throws unnecessarily hard screens is even more relevant and appropriate for commentary.
Seeing a player act the way KG has during games is bound to draw the attention of fans, because it's rare and is not behavior you expect at an NBA game. Stuff like going down on all fours, wagging a finger and clapping in a player's face, or trashtalking an in-game player while you're injured and not playing are not supposed to happen in the NBA, so people will react when they do. That is nothing like pointing at an athlete's clothing and concluding he might be a thug. It's also not not the same as the irrelevant, non-game-related stuff that Cuban is sick of hearing from commentators at games. You go to any sport, and have an athlete do what KG has done during a game, and I guarantee that it'll become a hot topic of discussion.

I commend Cyric for being a civilized poster in replying to such a stupid post. Props to you sir.

errr...ok how was that article relevant to kg? i don't mean any disrespect by questioning it but seriously where is the relevance in the article? the dress code thingy is a whole different topic

The whole post under the link was Mark Cubans. Unfortunately he writes fairly provocatively, like calling people idiots.
The analogy is that sportswriters buzz off-court issues that affect image but not gameplay, at the cost of gameplay issues. When someone showed all the fanfare about KG's being a bad person, I'm stating just because sportswriters and the public jump on the topic of the month doesn't mean players or coaches really care about it.
On one hand, who cares, if people want to talk about it they want to talk about it.
On the other hand, two years ago there were nonstop articles about how Tim Duncan was a whiner, but now I'm pretty sure he whines just as much but nobody cares anymore. And then there was Allen Iversion not practicing, Allen Iversion being a ghetto thug, Shaq half assing it for the first half of every season, Ron Artest being a locker room poison, Gilbert Arenas being an egomaniac. And Kobe raped a woman. Ok, that's actually a pretty big deal.
