Can someone, preferably in Korea, fill me in as to what the Koreans' general attitude is towards Japanese people? I always catch a lot of hate when I go into kor channels on west. I play under the sn JaPz. I know about the past war and occupation, but I was wondering how much of that still has any influence on the current generation in Korea. I don't do anything to provoke it. Am I just running in to bad people, or do most Koreans behave this way towards Japanese?

old people hate because they can remember the horrible shiti the japanese did to them

young people dont hate as much because they werent alive yet.. but they still have a little bit of hate towards them

everyone hates japan when it comes so soccer hehehe.. MAN i was watching that game.. japan scores the winning goal like 1 second before end of game.. so stupid

Not true about Koreans hating Japanese.
I personally have never seen one, and I've seen probably 100+ koreans.
Alot I'm still seeing now.

Alot of Asians hate Japan because of their imperialistic approaches in the early 1900s. Mostly coz they raped and killed a hell of alota people where ever they went. Strangely, most young Japanese are not aware of what the Japanese did in back then =/.

Lots of Koreans, Chinese, and Vietnamese hate Japanese people. Basically, any country that was occupied by Japan during World War 2 hates Japan to some extent (just varying degrees).

The currect generation of koreans that hate the japanese, hate the japanse not because of their abuses in the past (although it is a factor), but because of current events. The Japanese and Koreans have had land disputes. They tried to declare Jejudo, ullungdo, and Dokdo during the 1990's. They are still in dispute over dokdo. Some more conservative koreans believe that daemado is their's. Even more recent event that triggered anti-japanese sentiment was the Japanese education ministry trying to give their kids "patriotic" skewed-history books made by facist reactionaries. Not only the Koreans were upset, the Chinese, Phillipinos, and other ethnic groups became angry at Japan. Its also the culture that tells koreans to have bias against japanese. The korean students read speeches written by nationalists during the japanese occupation.

Korea was not part of japan during the 1700's-1800's, it was under Qing Dynasty China's influence. Korea was part of japan 1910-1945.

Korea was actually originally spelled Corea, but when Japan took over Korea, they chagned it to a K because it was lower in the alphabet or something.. i forget the exact details

Korea was spelled "corea" because of latin I believe. The spelling was changed to "Korea" due to the Germans or English, I don't know the details either.
