Clem is the GOAT by the very metrics you have set against Maru.
Despite Maru's dominance that trends against the tides of balance (rightfully called the lone Terran Hope when every other Terran were falling like flies), these Stans have abused the performance statistics of an injured Maru against a peak Serral.
Serral is a fucking GOAT himself though. And Clem wrecked him without dropping a map 8-0. If recent wins vs Maru makes Serral the GOAT, then the recent wins vs Serral makes Clem the GOAT.
It is only the mercy of fate that a prime Maru never faced a prime Serral. Because Maru in his prime consistently defeated players who beat Serral. And even when injured, Maru didn't get swept out without a map like Clem just swept Serral.

Nah nah, MaxPax is clearly the GOAT then. Followed closely by Krystianer. Then maybe somewhere after that is Clem's TvT.

serral is 95-76 vs clem in games and 31-18 in matches. clem was just lights out this tournament..like how Oliveira was a couple years ago. clem has a looooooooong way to go before he's in the Goat convo.

its the truth bro. I can count on one hand how many offline events clem has won. so my point stands. One tournament when he dominates doesn't put him above serral Maru rogue etc..he still hasn't passed reynor either in terms of career achievements.

If Clem keeps beating Serral, Maru, the others, and wins several other premiere tournaments over such players, 1 more WC-tier tournament, and is considered the best player over a 6 year period (and best player for most of the years individually), then we can talk.
Clem has a good start with year #1. Now at least 5 more to go.

Unless we have another surprise premier in 2024 and Clem wins it I don't think he would deserve to be considered player of the year just for winning EWC. At the moment Serral is the clear player of the year with Maru in second and quite a significant gap before Clem in 3rd. Clem didn't even manage to win HSC without Maru/Serral present and did worse than them at Kato and Dreamhack Summer. GSL is also >>> EU regional especially without Serral in it.

But serral has enough longevity. Literally 6 straight years of being number 1. Maru has never done that...no one besides serral in the history of the game has done that.
