Physician recommended I do this, so here goes.
I need 4 volunteers.
I don't trust BWL, yesterday i spoke to Ashur and he was heading for some LAN party. I had some spare time and ended up writing a strong anti hack, and much stronger than penguin plug.
In addition unlike bwl it wont crash your CD. To be short pp as u know uses a dll file .spl or some other extension and injects it into starcraft.exe preventing other dll injection. The tltour anti hack design is completely different as it monitors the windows cache directly. What it does is something I do not wish to discuss.
I wanted to include a non CD launcher but it was illegal, after consulting with Physician decided not to implement it.
The only thing worrying me right now is the way its scanning the memory constantly. It works great for pentium 3 , 4 etc but if you have a pentium 2 its a bonus.
If you can come some time Saturday, 14:01 EST @ op tl-west that would be awesome.

I want to be more elaborate. Basically the program is doing a lot of heavy scanning. It is tuned at a level where pentium 3s and above should not have a problem. I safely assumed all machines were using pentium 3 and above , Physician says no. So the scanning has to be tuned down just enough for the right number of scans where you feel it is "ok"
For those who are using Pentium 2s for your bw, this is bascially for you.
The testers have to be secret and maintain absolute silence after testing phase. In addition i want to make sure this works against all map hack programs out there. Disc is set to a loss in tltour.
If there are any hacks i have missed which you might think has potential to be a threat, other than ones listed above please list them.

I use a Pentium III 500 MHz, 384MB RAM. It is scraping the very bottom of the Pentium III barrel, and is as old as Starcraft itself.
However, 14:01 EST tomorrow (which is what I assume you meant) might not work for me. Let me know when you guys are free if you want to use my computer for some testing.

I realize that you are not in this for the wrong reasons, but don't you realize that you are creating a huge security threat yourself?
Do you think a lot of users will not care that you are accessing all their memory? I don't know just a couple question I have.

Well I'm not that worried about it and I figured that would be the assumption that everyone would play under...
I don't know I just always here stuff about software security and I was just curious how he could promise that his software wont' be running through our cache looking for stored credit card info or such.

if injecting dll files (penguin plug) is not a security risk this is not either. or are you telling me you never used bwl made by some cze guy from europe ? anyhow more thing is it is only reading info off of windows cache, not writing anything to it. there is no security risk. it is not opening port listeners as part of the anti hack system itself. it is something off of a design very similar to Warden. if you do not want to use the anti hack we cannot let you play in the tour, i.e. the launcher will not operate without detection of our anti hack. it's a harsh procedure but it will keep the abusers in check. also i mentioned earlier disc is a loss.
i think the level of excuse you are making is perhaps not necessary. www.adsc.com our software we use that operate over 90% U.S hospitals. shuhab@adsc.com is my email - I have better things to do than trying to take your credit card being a full time software engineer. If you don't want to use the anti-hack don't play in the tour.

mobile AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2200+ 1.79 GHz, 448 MB of RAM (meaning a crappy integrated graphics card)
Plus you get the added benefit of testing the latency of a satellite connection user in Cuba :-P

Edit: I have a question, would this new anti hack be compatible with BWL? I don't want to give up the features that PPlug has, and I also want to be able to use view my autoreplays.

you can use bwl as additional feature but this one has feature to index your files also. but the point is as you know bwl don't work against a number of hacks out there. [ which mekes pp virtually uselss ], ashur has served us for a number of years, which is great but i think its time to move to the next level.
right now i have tested it against two map hacks, inhale and oblivion and the way it works is if they load the hack it will crash sc. which means he will drop out of the game - and in our ladder drop = loss. [ the abuser should be punished ]
there is a feature in it for indexing auto replays. i still want to try taking permission from blizzard so we can load sc without the cd. [ took an effort to make it why not implement it ]
edit : you can no longer use bwl with our anti hack.

We did this before on an mmorpg. I'll keep it short and simply say this is not something people will want to use once they understand how it works exactly.
I'm sure your intentions are good but your methods are questionable (and illegal, if I'm understanding how this works, exactly). I'm also sure this same idea has already crossed other people's minds.

Come on, Zeto. Why are you afraid of some program just scanning around your windows cache, looking for illegal programs aka "hacks" as most people call it. What you got in that windows cache, porn? It won't look at your porn, it will just make sure it's not an illegal program.

ah it would be illegal if we were acting as a third party program on starcraft. but it is not illegal to act as a third party program on the hacks themselves. each hack program [ oblivion inhale etc] in addition warden works the same manner and its legal, which is being used on warcraft. i am sure a company like blizzard understands its right on a microsoft operating system. the user agreement will clarify this. why would you trust this any more than BWL ? you should not. but still all legit gamers use BWL.
we are just saying this. if you want to use our product "tltour" you must use our "anti-hack" while you are playing your ladder game. the machine itself belongs to you not to microsoft. it's something we also implement on hospital systems through out the u.s and we are working under microsoft as gold partner. essentially if any hospital data slips thanks to some say, hacker we [ the programmers ] will be in huge trouble. just imagine the crazy law suit that can be filed against us if some hacker say retrieves social security number while you were in your hospital bed ! so it is essential for us to protect our product.
i have taken my real life work experience and applied it to tltour.

Don't worry Qi.TiGeR, the vast majority of us support and deeply appreciate the effort you put into this. Its up to the individual user whether they want to use the program or not, no one is forcing them to play TLTour.

A while ago someone posted some screenshots of a hack being loaded despite BWL. They said that a undetectable hack had been created and had broken BWL but it wasn't widely available to stop it being countered. Would this be stopped or would you need to know more about the hack in question?

it can be stopped whcih is exactly why i had come up with the anti hack. also i disabled BWL. our anti hack is extremely fast and powerful.

well i played 2 games with Tiger <3 games were reported insanely fast^^ no need to alt+tab or anything like u do with carrier lol
tiger made me d/l some hacks also and they just got totally pwned by the anti-hack, so that works great
its going to be a fucking sweet ladder if this thing gets launched during season 1 of carrier carrier wont make it to season2, 100% guarantee it ^_^

Assuming the majority has P3 is quite reasonable, although I wouldnt say "safely", since bw can easily run just as well on a P1 (I was playing on a 100mhz with 64mb ram wayyyy back then)
