Seems clear now that the patch shipped a month early

they had a huge amount of information about stuff that was horribly broken and chose not to act on it, presumably because they didn't have enough time

8 hour maintenance on saturday to repatch the game.. Meanwhile i have 200-300fps standing in raid alone and constant dips to 10fps with rest of the raid team there before we even pull the boss

we're also looking to move raid day off wednesday because the server performance is unplayable for large periods of time, the client issue is just the icing on the cake and ruining thursday as well

one of the havoc golden traits isn't working and tanks are reporting a lot of their trinkets having 40% of the expected effect

On the positive side, i leveled a char a bit with a friend and a lot of the numbers seemed good. I was quite worried about stuff being screwed up from player reports but that seems to be somewhat limited and already being addressed (level 90-100 mob hp fixes). In our first Deadmines run the boss kill times were about 28-45 seconds which is exactly what i'd want, it's long enough to be worth dotting once or maybe twice. Stuff didn't really hurt and we had no problem pulling 4 packs at a time; they lived long enough to build combo points and hit a finisher or to get a Rampage up but not much longer ;D

It took a reasonable amount of time and gave 2 full levels of exp with +45% heirlooms (which have super nerfed stats btw)~ Stuff will change in the scaling at level 25++ but i had heard more than a few reports that even these lower levels were messed up, it's good to see that it's as i hoped.

For class i was playing a Fury warrior with a ret/prot pala and by the time i could queue for any dungeon i had a pretty wide range of damage abilities:

charge
smack dude with sword, no cooldown
smack dude hard with sword and enrage if crit, cooldown of 3x GCD (tied to haste)
rampage
execute

for other specs it may not be quite as good, that's all that i could ask for at level 15-20.

Funny thing is, everything in m+ right now has hp reduced by about 30% ish compared to last week. So trash lost the 20% hp modifier from fortified and 30% on top of that from bug(?) so they just melt. Bosses stayed roughly the same because they gained about as much from tyrannical as they lost from the bug(?). This makes timing dungeons ridiculously easy if you can survive the necrotics and boss dmg. Seen a stream about to time arcway 26 with 3 tanks and 2 dds, but the spider bugged out and didnt come down so they had to abort, but they had about 13 minutes left for spider and endboss at that point with a joke comp... blizzard pls.

A lot of the enchants are ridiculously overpowered though - crusader procs for +100 strength per weapon when my character only has 100 strength - so somebody playing through without enchanted heirloom might have a 10+ second time to kill instead of 2-3.

Lvl 30 my biggest execute crit was 5.2k and quest mobs have around 3k health

In the long term i think it's better for the game but not everyone would agree and taking something away from people is much more psychologically impactful than giving them something new. It also makes me worry more about the motivations behind the changes (e.g. expanding microtransactions on a game that's already extremely expensive due to buying regular boxes plus a sub fee)

I mean, I agree it sucks but I'm glad they're making a bold move like that.

I don't understand any complaining about the levelling considering how easy and broken its been, for so long, on top of all the level boosts and fast ways to get xp that have been in the game.

Stuff dies easily

Another undocumented change btw, transmogs for expansions now become available at the entry level for that expansion. You can transmog anything from TBC and Wrath at level 58 :D

Blizzard doesn't want to make any money? What the....with the new races people would have bought RAF for themselves and leveled together to get faster or whatever. Now they wont do that, it is like they don't want anymore money!

RAF doesn't make a lot of money, the base game is so cheap.
What makes real money is the 100 boosts, which more people will buy now.

£44.98 to buy all expansions
£40 for £100 boost

They make more money from RAF as you would get the bonuses to do so as you would want legion surely to finish the leveling off. Without that then i agree then boost makes more sense / more money but the RAF i thought (from my experience) is you get all expansions to finish off and get to max.

Basic WoW lets you get to 100 which is where the benefit from RAF ends anyway, so its 14.99 (or less if its on sale again) vs 40 for the boost.

Oh but even though it stops at 100, you can't level said character past 100, but i guess that is probably what people do when RAF to help level for these new races, hmmm xD

As someone who just started and hasn't played since Cata the game seems significantly different. Feels weird, the progression in items can come different ways it seems. I started doing dungeons rather late and found that even heroic dungeons drop meh gear for me (also they are faceroll since everyone is over geared). Who knew doing random quests and shit would grant better gear? (Even got a Leg from a cache lol). Just really odd to get better gear from world quests and such then heroic dungeon gear. Gearing is definitely different, do bosses even have loot tables anymore? All this "personal" loot system stuff and the seemingly random nature of like legs at least give the appearance that the old system of "oh I want THIS item and I need to farm THIS boss" is out.

Its all very new and I am not used to it yet but I can say so far I am enjoying it. Been playing solo atm but will def look for a guild closer to BFA release so I can play the end game properly.

Heroic dungeons are not at all relevant, they're not something that an experienced player really does on an old or even a brand new character - one exception: essence farming for legendaries once per day from random hc. It's misleadingly named because the difficulty and the loot are both really low level.

you can see the boss loot tables in both dungeons and raids from the dungeon journal, personal loot gives you a random item from the list if you get a drop. Most endgame gear is from mid-high mythic+ and raids

The reason world quests giving better gear too is due to the higher ilvl you get, the better the world quest reward loot is. Think it caps out at 910 ilvl eventually, but these can titanforge etc and give you higher. What your explaining is the only thing imo this expansion got right, being able to do any content PvE or PvP to be able to progress your character at any stage. Like Cyro says players at end game are still running a daily heroic to help grind essences to get a legendary, plus doing a daily heroic anyway helps legendary drop chance.

Well item progression and especially dungeons are always super wonky so late into an expansion. So much scaling up has happened since release and catch up mechanisms introduced. Which is why you should always play the start of an expansion if you care about non-raid content.
