Brewmaster monks are only ~3-4% of all tanks shown on warcraftlogs for mythic (and even heroic) - i've heard gameplay and balance concerns recently but i wasn't aware that the representation was that bad

Prot pala DPS is interesting as well, it's very high if you swap out a few talents and trinkets. Logs are screwy because the vast majority of tanks are not trying to deal a lot of damage but some of them that do try are getting good results

95'th percentile is half of the max parse and easy to reach - not trying for damage
They don't have much impact in 20 man raids but it's huge for 5-mans

Every point of damage has a huge impact on mythic ursoc currently, unless you are in the top 0.000001% of guilds. Our last night's kill would not have happened unless everyone down to healers had bursted at the start as much damage as possible, as well as in the middle whenever doable. I mean, we wiped after hard enrage began and he killed 90% of the raid with enraged charge blast and only people who lived through that were mages and paladins who hid in their immunities long enough for dots to finish the boss. And this is with everyone using an ursoc vantus rune for free 1000 versatility for everyone.
Also, my guild is in the few % with a monk tank, how fucked are we :D

Tanks dying on M ursoc is 9 out of 10 times a taunt fail. The sub 30% roars are a fucking pain to heal, running low on mana and you have very limited time to get everyone over a certain point of health and then topped fully before charge. I was cursing loud at myself when I got picked as the charge target in that phase, as most of the aoe healing relied on me and obviously it's fucking hard to do when you have to run a mile away to not get 1 shot by the charge.

dunno about monks but we have a DH and he takes considerably more damage then any other tank I have had.

They do that, but they also heal themselves for more hps than probably 2 of your healers put together. Go into logs and click the External Healing Required button the on the damage taken tab to normalize it.
Our tank setup is monk DK so we're far from being optimized for current patch :d actually hard to get a worse combo I guess. Druid(s)/warrior(s) or a pala in there would be great. Pala gets to cheese soak some boss abilities solo which makes them quite valuable.

more like 6-7 out of 10 times from what i saw, people just dieing to melee hits and DOT ticks lol

How do you do dmg as pala tank. I do like 100k vs bosses with 855.

Seraphim and damage trinkets; I've seen bursts to 1 mill and DPS in the 300k range after 1-2 minutes of ST in person
On WCL there's one paladin who got 283k on 4m29s mythic ursoc (cleaving add) and 298k on 2m41s heroic ursoc (100% ST)

I'm helping my guild by tanking as BrM Monk during our heroic progress and it does okay really. I'm kinda overgearing heroic raiding tho, 865 with two very good trinkets ( 870 phantasmal echo and a 865 one that i can't remember right now )
We have this issue right now where our flexible dps ( dps who can also switch to up to date healing or tank specs ) are also our best DPS overall. ( our SP is wrecking numbers and I do very well usually too ) It's kind of frustrating our others guys aren't that great.
But back to brewmasters, I think its not that they are bad, rather they have changed a lot, and design wise its kind of a mess, but they work fine enogh if you like playing it. I don't feel squishy in raids and our healers often say they'd like me to stay as MT2 because of how easy it is to heal me in raids.

You're overgearing the content a lot, imagine those with 865-870 who are tanking mythic bosses with the fewest healers that are reasonably possible. I think right now they're both underrepresented and underperforming with some concerns about spec design/mechanics as well
Representation is also often more about which classes/specs were previously good (numerically or design-wise) than it is about the current state of things today as most people decided their class and spec between late beta and release day
Some healers, tanks and even DPS specs were clearly better/worse than others @ late beta + release and you can often see those in representation - 95% of mages playing Fire for example. The ratio of prot warriors to some other tanks increased by 3x overnight when the expansion hit, looks like pala/dk/druid took some minor losses to vengeance and warrior while monk was already lowest played and fell off a cliff. It's not just tanks there, monks as a whole were abandoned by a lot of people in Legion

Our DK/Monk combo took about 10-15m more dmg that required external healing than a druid/pala combo I'm comparing our log to.
Fire for mages is a simple numbers thing, arcane and frost were numerically dogshit until they got buffed in the first mini balance patch and since all mages geared for fire it will keep performing above those for a while.
