I'm not a fan of running plays as hail marys. Feels like there's no point to them. If you're going to run out the clock, just take a knee. | ||

The idea (especially from shot gun) is to show pass and hope enough defenders read the pass blocking to give you rb (often one of your most explosive players) some one on one matches and a big play. If you break a big play you use your last TO to set up your final play. You also have the option of just letting the clock run out after the play if it wasn't successful. Throwing to try to get into FG range might have a higher success rate but it also has a greater risk (int, sack/fumble and possible returns). The last thing you want is for your opponent to get a scoring chance, so in some ways it's not a bad idea to treat your own 20 as if it was the 2 and pick a safer play to try to get into better position to take a riskier shot. Unfortunately that's all rooted in probability. | ||
