what is wrong with you people? how dumb and stereotypical can you be? is attacking others personally a thing in here? i'm from BW btw.... so quite the opposite... Germany is a country in the center of europe, why would they NOT have a lot of troops here if they want to operate in in the middle east, europe and north africa? And why do you take Ossi as an insult? I mean, if I'd be one I'd feel insulted by you now. you wanted to brand me as an Ossi, to proof your point and make dumb analogies along with what people here think about "Ossis". the way you wrote it it IS an insult.

How about british soldiers in germany, are they occupation-force as well? Since they almost have the same amount of soldiers in germany (by your "standards")?
50k is alot, then again, this here was literally the mexican standoff in the cold war, what exactly do you expect? Since the mauerfall they reduced the amount of soldiers gradually by 50% to this point. Weird for an occupied country, isn't it? It's also weird that the US minister Rumsfeld calls us "the old europe" because he was so fricking frustrated with germanys stance towards wars, that he lost it. It's weird, isn't it?

You're talking about somebody else, read back and see who made the post. And the second part of your post is ridiculous, plus, why would we even WANT to get them out of here, when they don't use their troops to pressure us in any way, pay us MILLIONS every year to keep them here, secure us against russia (small reason since russia probably wouldn't do anything, but still) and boost our economy by being here alone?

the wall broke 25 years ago.... and yet there are still A LOT of troups and nuclear weapons. also educate yourself and don't only listen to the mainstream and you could get to the conclussion we are still occupied (source (german)). how much of it is still intact another interpretation. but if you see how much our government contested the NSA spying of our whole population which was against our constitution, you could see how much our constitution is worth compared to US interests. NOTHING.

If the americans started the syrian revolution (which is not the case btw, it came after the tunisian revolution which was the first one) then Russia has to do everything in its power to prevent it from succeeding? Syria's regime was corrupted, favorised an elite and worse different etnicities. Now if the US had interest in starting a revolution which goal is to have a liberal friendly (West friendly) and democratic (the goal of the protesters) regime. There are no moral nor logical reasons for Russia preventing it, it just acted in fascist and Cold War like fashion without any regards for human beings and even if the US had interests, their action would have helped the population of Syria. You can hate the US all you want and you seem to have a problem with things US related but you shouldn't become the advocate of wars just because of it. You need to stop using word "fascist" when you have no idea about its meaning. Everything in politics has logical reasons, learn it. You just can have no idea about their logic, that's all. Don't talk to me like I'm dumb, I choose my words. I can give you the definition again, facism is an extremely authoritarian political attitude that involves populism and ultranationalism. It was first theorized by Mussolini. Putin uses propaganda, media control and has been in power for more than 15 yrs. He uses the national sentiment well and imposes his views unilateraly to other nations with force. He has everything that defines a fascist dictator which include refusing the global order, in his case it's the West. Not everything in Politics is well thought, you don't have to put politicians on piedestals. Well I should have worded it better with the reasons for blocking the intervention in Syria were not moral nor intelligent. Imo Russia blocking UN intervention in Syria was stupid, the only thing Putin gained is some kind of fear / respect from other countries and the feeling that the world can't do anything without Russia. It just tends to worsen the relations between Russia and other nations, and Russia won't have an ally in Assad because the regime will eventually fall, Russia will only gain the hatred of the islamists that may come in power later. Even if Putin now know it was a stupid decision which he must do, he has to go along with it to maintain Russia's position and facade (which is normal in politics). Russia is gaining hatred of the islamists no matter what, there is nothing new :D This story is too long. Every country leader uses propaganda sometimes, for example when elections happen. You want to say something against it? And same stuff happen with media control. For example, Real Madrid has Marca and Barcelona has AS. You will never read something good about Real in AS and same stuff happens about Barca in Marca. That's not new either. Now next. You won't be punished for being in opposition, writing anti-Putin articles or something like that. There are objective reasons why TVRain, which was created by president Medvedev was pushed from being free in every internet-network in country and now you can purchase subscription easily and watch it. There was almost no politics, it was pure economical reason. And finally. Russia is multicultural country. Nationalism here is punished. It was punished. It is and it will be. Yes, sometimes we butthurt about amount of illegal immigrants. But no more. End of the story. Some countries have kings who are ruling the country for ages. Are they faschists as well because they have power? I highly doubt as well. Of course i speak about kings who have power and not someone like UK Queen. And finally. Refusing the global order? Wut? You really think that Russia is so fucking weak and useless that will follow everything what USA/Europe will say? PaleMan, btw, chill. You really going ham so hard that people think that all Russians are retards. Go play dota a bit, dude. Hey I was simply responding and seing how you are changing subjects I suppose you don't deny that Putin has everything of the fascist dictator. And yes it would have changed something because if Putin had supported the syrian revolution at the beginning maybe the most extreme kind of islamists wouldn't have great chances of becoming the ones to rule after Assad's regime will have fallen.
It also showed that Russia refused to maintain the global order and peace again (it sounds strange but kicking out a dictator goes in that sense), and it's not about listening to what other countries say but more about not shitting on every other country and citizens on this planet. "Oh there is a revolution in Syria supported by the international community, let's fuck them!" "There is a revolution in Ukraine supported by the international community, let's fuck them!" It's just throwing into the dirt the hopes of different nations just to show its independance and self-autority. In a sense that's totally childish and retarded and in the recent yrs Russia has by a large margin been the worst at doing that.
Now just like with the majority of your arguments ("but they are doing it too!"), there are different degrees to corruption and propaganda. And when I see that in the majority of non russian news site there are dozens and dozens of illeterate people spiting the same dumb arguments about fascists coup in Kiev, I'm convinced that either a huge number of people are desperatly trying to defend Russia that they just subscribe to these sites or either that some people are paid to do that or both. In any case it shows that there is an enormous nationalist sentiment towards Russia the country (and not towards each etnicity and even then I'm sure we are mostly hearing about slavs russian) and a huge campain of propaganda regarding this event and on a country scale.
It isn't like an electoral campain because in this event there are no dissident nor contradicting voices in Russia. This event is totally moraly condamnable but I have yet to hear about a russian saying that this invasion is wrong. And no it was not like that in the US with Irak or Afghanistan, there were many people and medias condamning these invasions.

It's weird, isn't it? the wall broke 25 years ago.... and yet there are still A LOT of troups and nuclear weapons. Could you please tell us why you actually hate that so much? You keep on saying we're occupied, but I'd like to hear something a bit more substantial or maybe why you hate being "occupied" so much. i hate that another country can violate our constitution heavily without consequences. see NSA and spying. also: our constitution is worth NOTHING if it can be circumvented that easily. The NSA could have spied on us without their troops here, so what else?
its called dictatorship when you live under Big Brothers hand
wanna tell me smthing about democracy again?

What would interest me though, is if fleeze is an Ossi.
what is wrong with you people? how dumb and stereotypical can you be? is attacking others personally a thing in here? i'm from BW btw.... so quite the opposite... Ah, i see. So the whole "discussion" the last couple of pages isn't because of russia, but because you suffer of "anti-americanism". Believe me, you're not alone there in germany, not even in this thread.
But it's not the point of the thread. Just because "america is bad and nobody likes it", you can't justify russias actions.

Did i call you Ossi or did i ask if you are one? People here don't even know what an ossi is you smartass, literally 95% of this thread have never heard it. I could not understand why you would think he is australian then I realised that would be aussie Care to share what Ossi is? "Ossi" is a slightly derogatory term for people from East-Germany(Ostdeutschland). From time to time some of our beloved East-German Citizens tend to be a little 'ddr - nostalgic'

In short it is a guy who mentally stayed back in East Germany. nah, it's someone who lived in the DDR, so eastern germany before the wall got teared down.
Allies have always spied on each other. How everyone thinks this is shocking is beyond me. You don't think Germany monitors other allies? People are just raging because everyone wants to jump on the NSA-hate bandwagon these days.
