You have to follow the Apple model of doing things, quality first, and money magically comes second.
EG-TL aren't doing the broadcasts. This is all KeSPA. I'm pretty sure the guys are casting at the venue even. So people saying stuff like "When SNM gets a better mic it will be fine" I'm pretty sure he's using whatever kespa is giving him. KeSPA doing this for as cheap as possible. They can't afford anybody that knows what they are doing, and most good casters work for other organizations. So I guess this is the best we can get. Which is horrible :\ SNM needs to learn to enunciate before he learns to cast. And this is the fking PROLEAGUE. Should have superb casting from knowledgeable people.
Also saying that apple does quality first and then worries about money. lololol. That's cute. Let me know how those Apple Maps are working out for you.

Looks like I was smart in holding off paying until Proleague had time to prove itself. This is the stuff more of you guys should learn in order to avoid buyer's remorse.

it's $5. If you have buyers remorse for $5 I feel sorry for you.

Like 5 bucks from a few hundred people has anything to do with money. And like EG-TL can do a lot about the feed they get and other stuff.

They're working fine. Have been using iPhone since it came out along with all the i gadgets.
So EG TL backed out of providing cast for proleague? If Kespa is behind everything then it makes more sense since no one really wants to work for them.

Not everyone wants to spend 5 dollars supporting a bad product. Everything is relative to the quality of the product in the customer's eyes. Just because something is $5 doesn't mean everyone wants to throw away 5 dollars. Just because you could buy someone's autograph for $.01 doesn't mean that $.01 is worth spending on it to everyone.
More people really should have just spent more time watching the free vods and seeing how Proleague went and see if its English stream was as mediocre as OSL's. Then they could have avoided paying for a product they didn't think was as good as they expected.

from the OP:
We're not sure how long we'll have the opportunity to produce these broadcasts for you - it will likely depend on both how well we execute them, in addition to other factors outside our control - but we hope you'll tune in while we do indeed have the broadcast rights.
KeSPA likely pulled the plug on EG-TL broadcasting rather than EG-TL backing out. As far as I've heard, Kespa and IEG have taken over producing the English cast and hired SNM and Whiplash, who are doing their commentating from the Proleague studios.

5$ / one time. Is that really only 5 dollar for a complete year off pro league? If so, i have to make some paypal transactions right now!

The problem with the non EG-TL commentators is that they simply have no idea of the metagame. Just last night one of them (I don't even know their names) was arguing that the 2-immortal version of the sentry immortal all-in was far more popular and effective. Seriously? Maybe early this last summer. I've all but stopped watching because the casting is pitiful, and the production value is childish. It's astonishing how far ahead the GSL is over proleague, given how many years of experience proleague should be leveraging. Furthermore, I don't feel like I'm getting attached to any of the players. Unlike other leagues were we get a lot of backstory info on players and can develop favorites, villians, etc, in proleague I literally feel nothing towards anybody except for the BW legends were all I have is, "oh, ya, he was pretty good in BW, how will he fair in SC2?" I'm pretty sure that proleague is getting next to nothing from advertising to the non-Korean audience, and that could easily change if they stepped up their production to be at least on par with other tournaments, so that people would be able to enjoy the games played by some already excellent progamers.

I watched PL off the English stream before they put the $5 charge on it this season. I wasn't too happy in terms of the people who were casting. After they put the $5 fee for the VODs on Twitch, I switched to the Korean VODs on Youtube. I am not bothered by the language barrier; in fact, I would say I prefer the Korean VODs if the quality was a bit better. I am glad I did not spend $5 for the English VODs.

That decision has nothing to do with TL, they were given the rights and had them taken away only a week later. IEG and Kespa hired the current casters and they are on location.

The SNM translations alone are worth the 5$ for a season. Just my 2c

The current casting is pretty bad, but I think they will improve in time. Plus, it's nice that snm can translate the interviews for us.

two of the worst casters right now imo. will pay for proleague when they get better casters

is there a source for that?
from what im seeing, it looks like eg-tl entered into it way before they themselves seem prepared, everybody here is complaining about the new casters, but they were ripping tl-eg (and bitter and tb) a new one, there was alot of negative backlash it seemed, it wouldn't surprise me if kespa backed out due to some of those reasons
its unfortunate, tl-eg could have made a great broadcast if kespa focused on the foreign scenes production better

The fact that SNM can translate is pretty much the only redeeming quality of the entire broadcast right now. As others have said, the actual casting is quite poor, and SNM needs to learn to enunciate and stop fumbling with his words.

lol not really. I mute most english casters anyway so unless Kespa somehow got artosis/day9 or a select, select couple others I would have it on mute and listen to the korean stream anyway.
I paid the 5$ so I have HD access and can watch vods instantly afterwords. For 7 months of content I don't feel like I am wasting 5$ even though I don't listen to the commentary at all. I just turn on korean stream and watch the English one.

I don't regret paying 5 bucks since it's a bargain, but I'm definitely not defending the casting quality.
