Incontrol has a wife. He can't just up and go to Korea for 8 months without considering her life where they currently live and being apart from her. I dont understand why everyone is like omg i have to pay to listen to crap(i like the casting but thats not important) when the casting is free... I don't even... The casting is part of the 720p+ stream. The casting is part of the VODs. The casting is part of the $5 package. Paying $5 means you are supporting a product that has the casting in it.

I'm not their biggest fan either. But 5$ is still sooooooooo cheap

But 5$ is still sooooooooo cheap It doesn't matter how cheap it is or how much content there is, if you don't feel the quality of the content is worth $5. It may be worth $5 to you, but that does not mean everyone feels the same way. People really need to stop assuming this.

Proleague is a premiere tournament and it should be represented by premiere casters. I follow SC2 closely and I have NEVER heard of SNM or Whiplash before. They're certainly not as bad as a lot of twitch chatters are claiming they are, BUT, they are NOT up to the quality that I would expect out of EG-TL production, and certainly not indicative of Proleague. If Proleague wants to be THE BEST league they need to have THE BEST casters. Edit: When I heard EG would be handling the casting I was hoping for Incontrol. I don't know why he's not in Korea with the rest of his team, seems like a great opportunity to cement himself as a leading caster as well. Incontrol has the BW history AND the SC2 knowledge. EG-TL is no longer responsible for the English broadcast production, so you should blame them anymore. So I guess Incontrol would not be flown to Korea for the English cast. As of the casters, I would say they need to improve quite a lot. But I would give them time before being critical to them.

It's not like people will demand their money back or something.

If you are already subscribed to the "sc2proleague" channel, then you don't need to pay again. It's 5$ for the whole season.

Well the Korean broadcast has been in significantly better quality (production, casting, HD) and free. I think we'll be getting the same stream as them now though.

As far as I've heard, Kespa and IEG have taken over producing the English cast and hired SNM and Whiplash, who are doing their commentating from the Proleague studios. This thread has run it's course. I don't know why it's still open because EG-TL are no longer in control of it.

![]() Wish Salye was still doing this though.. That guy was both entertaining and actually a good caster. Also I loved his production level (hated the stream drops... but his vlc / twitch micro made up for it). It felt like it was just a guy casting to his friends with the cheesy disney music in the background and singing and stuff. Edit: not that I'm saying the big studio and cameras and everything isnt cool... Sayles style just feels more personal to me. Man I miss live bw spl/osl casts

The point is that outrage over them charging money for the casting is dumb because if you don't like the casting you wont be watching in the first place, so whether or not they are charging money (and to be honest, they almost aren't charging anything at all at this dirt cheap rate) is irrelevant. If you dont like the casting and you paid the $5, you can still mute and enjoy all the benefits that you paid to get (vods, 720p, no ads)! Whether or not you choose to listen to the casters is independent of what you paid for.

Whether or not you choose to listen to the casters is independent of what you paid for. You have to listen to the casters if you want to hear the in-game sounds. Sorry, but saying that "oh you can mute it!" isn't an arguable option since it negatively effects other aspects that aren't just the casting. That argument would only hold water if there was a way to just mute the casters themselves. The casting is part of the package.

First of all, this just isn't true in general. Look at the NHL, for example. It's the best hockey league in the world. Despite this, CBC has Bob Cole doing playoff games. He's widely disliked and generally doesn't know what he's talking about. Plenty of American teams have announcers that don't know what they're talking about. And this is a sport with over 100 times more money in it. Secondly, how exactly are you expecting them to accomplish this? The best casters that are already in Korea have long since been signed to Gom and aren't going to just switch over, so that's not a possibility. Most other casters simply don't want to go and live in Korea for months and be unable to travel elsewhere for other casting gigs. They can't just magically make the best casters in the world appear there and work for them. Thirdly, look at the price disparity: for the GSTL, the cheapest available year ticket cost $55 for 2012. That's 11 times more than the Proleague ticket. Additionally, Proleague has only JUST started running English broadcasts, and SNM and Whiplash have only JUST started casting there. Things will obviously improve over time. Freaking out because things aren't absolutely perfect for your $5 a year is just ridiculous.

it's FIVE DOLLARS...it's not like GSL's price...if it was, then I can see a decent reason on why you should complain people need to stop looking for ways to complain and bicker about and just appreciate what we have

Just be grateful there are any at all for the english audience it's the first time proleague has had that option. In my opinion it's all about the quality of the games anyways and I choose to listen to the korean casts since they show a lot more enthusiasm anyways and I think I've watched the game long enough to not need any casters to tell me what is going on. Considering one of the casters complained in chat (while moderating the chat no less) about the casting when we were doing it, I'd say they are fair game. I don't have any interest in criticizing their casting technique but I can tell you this. Proleague is NOT the place to cut your teeth as a caster. None of us started that way, casting one of the most important tournaments in the world. We did online stuff for no pay and paid our dues while learning how to cast well. If Kespa wants foreigners interested in it's tournament, which honestly I'm only partially convinced that they do, then they need to ensure that their product is appealing to foreign audiences. With concurrent views plummeting anywhere between 50 and 75% vs the first two weeks, it's going to be tough for Proleague and hold interest and build an audience after such an early stumble.
