The Republican Presidential nominee, Donald Trump, tore into the media on Thursday for what he called its “extremely unfair practice” of reporting the things he says.

“I’ll say something at a rally and I look out and see all these TV cameras taking every word down,” Trump told Fox News’s Sean Hannity. “No one in politics has ever been subjected to this kind of treatment.”

“It’s unbelievable and, frankly, very unethical,” he added.

At a rally in Florida, the candidate lashed out at a TV cameraman whom he caught in the act of recording his words for broadcasting purposes.

“Look at him over there, picking up everything I’m saying, folks,” Trump shouted. “Get him out of here.”

In his interview with Fox, Trump hinted that he might drop out of this fall’s televised Presidential debates if the media continues its practice of reporting the things he says.

“I’ve always said that I would be willing to debate if I’m treated fairly,” Trump told Hannity. “But if the media keeps recording everything I say, word for word, and then playing it back so that everyone in the country hears exactly what I said, I would consider that very, very unfair.”

Yes, it's satire, in cares there's any confusion

Holy shit I would have believed you that this was legitimately what he said. Dont do this man, this election cycle is already crazy enough.

Is it actually satire if it's exactly what he's doing though?

Poe’s law is in full effect. I get the feeling we might be talking about this article a while from now when Trump says something very similar.

The unrealistic sound of these propositions is indicative, not of their utopian character, but of the strength of the forces which prevent their realization.

Better change:

Clinton has managed to pretty much take several battleground states off the map. VA + CO are solid locks. Worth mentioning (but not in the poll) is that she's got pretty much a double digit lead in PA as well. Having a very solid road to 270 is enabling her to roll out a 50 state strategy, or at least greatly expand the electoral map in a way that benefits congressional races.

I think it's much closer to the "Tyson Zone", where you can make up anything insane about what a certain person has done and it still remains completely believable.

I have a few questions regarding US elections:
1) Did it ever happen that a "modern day" president won all 50 states? Lets say since the 1950s?

2) What effect has the presidential election on senate and congress? Are they completely independent from each other or somehow tied?

3) Is it legally possible for the republican party to support a different candidate than their own nominee? Could the republican party just decide to go with Johnson or something? (ignoring whether its of any use to them or smart or anything)

1. Never happened ever. Coalitions are never that vulnerable that they can lose that badly.
Edit: never mind: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_presidential_elections_by_Electoral_College_margin

2. There's a "coattail" effect and the presidential choice indirectly influences the down-ballot votes which are often party-line.

3. Yes. They also could have dumped Trump if they really wanted. It's just really stupid to do so.

1) closest was 1984 when Reagan won every single state except for minnesota.

2) they are not tied legally but there is a strong correlation between a party winning a presidency, and gaining seats in congress. this is because people rarely split their vote between parties (i.e. if someone votes for a democratic president, theyr likely to vote for democratic congressmen).

3. Depends on what you mean by "the republican party.' individual members certainly can, but its extremely unlikely for the party and its associated resources (represented by Priebus and Ryan) to abandon ship. But yes, its possible.

It sort of happened to Bob Dole in 1996. they didnt outright abandon him, but the GOP shifted resources away from him and towards vulnerable republican congressmen.

Right now it seems the GOP is going to force a split ticket strategy like the did with Dole, with a wink and a nod tell supporters to vote Clinton but the Republicans on the down ballots.

One thing I don't understand if Clinton is forcing NC and Georgia why hasn't TN moved yet... no polling?

There was a story recently about some republicans thinking about replacing trump as their nominee but it was said they can not legally remove him, they have to wait for him to step down voluntarily. The rules of law surrounding parties and presidential elections in the US are quite confusing to an outsider. I was just curious to know whether a party actually has to stand (their official statements that is) behind their nominee or whether the party can actively encourage its voters to vote for somebody else.

Some of you guys might like this podcast by Obama's former comm. Director and speechwriter.

They don't pretend to be anything but partisans tho. It's pure liberal echo chamber but I really dig it anyway.

They can encourage what they feel like doing. Kind of like Cruz with "vote your conscience" message ... he's still the Republican senator of Texas.

Once Trump got the sufficient number of bound delegates and both bound/unbound cast a majority of votes for Trump at the party's convention, he became the nominee. In theory, the convention rules committee could've changed the rules to allow delegates to do what they felt like, but that would've been a bad play for the future.

urbanization. nashville + memphis aren't on the same scale as atlanta (metro area is over half the state pop) or the triangle + Charlotte in NC.

I love that Paul Manafort was part of Dole's campaign. And that Tim Kaine has never lost an election.
