I'm wondering if he'll just suddenly pivot to the middle under the rationale "I'm a winner, I stand for winning. You better believe that. I said things to win the primary to win the primary, not because I believe in them. Call it a lie, I call it winning. This is my real platform. Single-payer. New tax code. Business-friendly rules. I think it's pretty great. It'll make America great again and make everyone here a winner."

The only people supporting him now are a tiny fraction of the electorate. There is no way he gets California and the majority of the swing states he needs to be elected. You grossly over estimate peoples desire to avoid a socialist in the White House based on nothing. And I think you over estimate the Republican parties willingness to support him in any way.

Friday, December 04, 2015 Understanding Trump This passage from Ross Douthat caught my eye: Writing for Slate last week, Jamelle Bouie argued that Trumpism, however ideologically inchoate, manifests at least seven of the hallmarks of fascism identified by the Italian polymath Umberto Eco. They include: a cult of action, a celebration of aggressive masculinity, an intolerance of criticism, a fear of difference and outsiders, a pitch to the frustrations of the lower middle class, an intense nationalism and resentment at national humiliation, and a “popular elitism” that promises every citizen that they’re part of “the best people of the world.” Does this sound like Trump? Well, yes, it rather does. gregmankiw.blogspot.com Dunno if anyone already posted the NYT opinion piece he's referencing.

If fascism comes, he added, it will not be identified with any "shirt" movement, nor with an "insignia," but it will probably be "wrapped up in the American flag and heralded as a plea for liberty and preservation of the constitution."

Well clearly he missed on Trump. He is both anti-Liberty and anti-constitution.

While Trump is a kooky figure, that quote doesn't apply, and neither really does any of the Facist/Stalinist comparisons(the ideas, economically are just too different). I actually would say his closest analogy is Teddy Roosevelt, who was insane, by the way.

Voldemort didn't order his friends to toss the baby that harry still was out of the window to kill him that way after he tried to kill him and failed. Voldemort at least let him grow up until he was 14 or whatever it was. Can you say Trump would do that? I think not,
