I just don't like greedy companies making up condescending excuses. What's worse is idiot fanboys lapping it up and spreading it around like stooges, thus pontifying said greedy company.
You just called every starcraft 2 fan an idiot fanboy whilst posting on a starcraft 2 forum... If anyone around here is acting pompous and condescending it is you.
Oh? I didn't know the fucking thought police was out in force. Obviously you're too insecure to form your own thoughts so you rely on groupthink. Protip, use your brain instead of mindlessly spouting off what Blizzard tells you.

Nice use of a big word. Oh and nice ad hominem. Too bad you are letting your anti-big company bias get in the way of a reasonable assessment. By your logic once HOTS comes out, Blizz should allow a custom map that replicates multiplayer 100%? The fact that Blizz did us the favor of making the map editor so powerful doesn't mean that Blizz owes us the added favor of allowing its expansion to be replicated using the editor. They're justified in making HOTS exclusive because otherwise there would be no point to a beta. What's the point of installing another client if you can just play a custom game? Should Blizzard really run its beta via the WoL map editor?
Another reason for a beta is focused testing from Blizzard. There's a reason you have to give them your system specs before opting in to the beta. If they allowed the custom map, they'd get tons of support tickets and feedback from people who have only played that.

Hate to break it to you....but imho if you already play, and a lot, chances are you're going to buy hots regardless. People that havent played much lately or even much besides a few months after release will get keys to get hype and the desire to have the game going. Yes people with skill will be needed for the input but I doubt that anything but GMs will be targeted individually. All the rest would probably be random and/or depending on the set ups people have and stuff that blizz needs to see tested.
But...I can always be wrong and you could get a key right away :p good luck

What is pontifying? Did you mean pontificating? That wouldn't make sense in the context you used it either though.

I doubt that's how they do it. I think they do based on your specs. If you have a gamer rig you are likely to get it because they think, "hey this guy is a gamer, he will play this thing, he cares about gaming."

Agreed. I talked about the specs too and I consider specs to be a selection criteria above the WoL ranking, even if my post wasnt clear about that.
Is 3. Sept as a shutdown for beta a possible hint for the release date? People like Day9 and HD talk about giving out beta keys left and right and the beta hasn't even started yet. Are there any official statements about the start?

Nah man, let him believe what he wants to believe. Sometimes, it is hard for some people to think reasonably.

I don't work at blizzard so I don't know much but I'm pretty sure they don't use low level players for balance and testing They use their computers haha... They take the specs of their PC and see how the game runs off of them

Well probably, they seem intent on lowering skill cap with more a-move. So the people that truely work hard might soon be drowned with the mediocre.
lol what ? more a move ? , maby some examples please..
He's most likely talking about the warhound, tempest.
Then going by this logic.. every units that shot , is a move unit ? Sc2 is all abouth timings/decission making / army control , if you let tempest alone they die very fast from any air units. warhound cant shot up..so you can make 100of them and one air unit gonna kill them all.. etc etc..
Its just stupid thinking. If you got more skills then your opponent , and you dont make mistakes in game , you gonna win..Its simple. Ifyou make bad build , make mistakes .. dont scout etc.. you lose simple as that.

Well I don't think it's simple. There are a lot of different aspects to the game so odds are one player will play better in some areas while the other plays better in other areas... Making a game that's difficult to predict (fun to watch imo.)
I don't think the new hots units are any more a-move than any other unit, though, and even if they were, and somehow the skillcap was lowered, it's still going take be beyond-human skill to reach it, so no real matter except in the early game when there's not much to do. Early game is mostly unaffected in hots except for the mship core which seems to add defenders advantage so it will reward the better player.

Maby its not that simple like i write it.. but pretty much. I just forgot to add that sc2 is like every other sport . You can be in shape one day .. other day no..pro gamers and even players like us , got better and worse days for playing. But the fact is , if you are better then you oppenent ( experience ,macro , micro etc ) and you dont make stupid mistakes in game you gonna win. Other thing is , IMO more units in game with double abilities.. like WoL medivacs... collosus ( can go up/down cliffs , its ability for me ;P) banshe (cloak ) etc etc then better for the game , because we get more options to play the game.
In early sc2 beta mass reaper build owned all...roches also was op and many many thing. Please dont talk balance now... its make no sense.. , HOTS isint even in closed beta stage , but people already know everyting abouth the game ( they think they know) They fact is .. WE ALL NEED TO WAIT FOR FIRST BIG HOTS BETA TOURNAMNT , with pro gamers playing it.. to talk abouth balance.

I don't think either of these criteria make sense. Players who are not playing WOL frequently now would be more likely to lose interest just over the course of playing the Beta and so will be less likely to buy the final game. Someone who still play WOLs often can be counted on to buy the final game after the Beta because they have shown they are committed. As for Tech specs they are interested in odd build and computers on the low end because they need to be aware of any performance issues. Top of the line computers can be more easily assumed to run the game so it is not as necessary to test them.
