Honestly. You know, I never thought about this. I just started up a custom game with the filter on and tried a host of different slurs, and while not all were blocked, "gook" definitely was, so why does this user consciously choose to turn the filter off (it is ON by default) and then get offended when people use foul language online? Sigh, no one seems to pay any attention to this. :\

I agree with the rest of your post. Sponsors should be contacted only if the team does not respond appropriately to unacceptable behaviour by members rather than as a default.
I disagree because if people have openly shown that they are a racist then they have also openly shown that they deny the fundamental truth that all people are equal and therefore are mindless morons. A simple examination of Destiny shows that he has not graduated from a post secondary institution, is a racist, and makes a living streaming video games, and his followers are cult of mindless "zombies". I do agree with his points he made on State of the Game about how language should be taken in context, because ultimately making jokes about black people liking watermelon, or white people's inability to jump and so on are not racist at heart but rather poking fun at generic traits that a race of people tend to have in common. People who are offended by such jokes are thin skinned idiots who are only hurting those who they represent. Using racist language to show that you are better than that person while mad though is unacceptable though.
I also find trying to argue with a racist about how they are wrong is a pointless task because they are much like the deeply religious extremists in that they will not listen to any logic and will hold their beliefs regardless as long as they have a community that listens. The key to stomping out racism is simply to ignore and ostracize the racists who will eventually find their shrinking community die out. This is also important because as we explore the galactic community I believe it is inevitable that we will run into other species and as long as racist ideas a prevalent in some minds they will transition into xenophobic ideas which could ultimately hurt our relations with other intelligent species.
As far as putting the topic in the open, its not difficult to find out who is racist, as soon as there are disagreements they are bound to show their true colors and as long as they are made to feel out of place they will either reform or die out completely.

I disagree. People like you, who show they're completely intolerant of others opinions, bashes them and speak condencendingly of them because of educational background, living/work situation and stereotyping all followers as "mindless zombies", are the very type of people who should be ignored and ostracized. Your post is hypocrisy of the highest level. Well played, sir.

<3 you, Destiny. Such a baller for sticking to your words, regardless of the consequences. You're not losing me as a fan.

I just can't imagine turning down a source of income and free travel because I didn't want to stop saying "nigger" "gook" and "faggot" to insult people.

No one is forced to read the shit he writes and there is a clear system to prevent that, and no one is forced to watch his stream... So all in all pretty safe and especially fair. No reason to complain.

I like how this discussion has become polarized to the extreme. Either you support Destiny and you are now a heartless racist/sexist troll with no morals or sense of deciency, or you are against Destiny and you are now a mindless follower of a lynch mob who wants to take away all free speech, kill esports, and intentionally/selfishly kill the team liquid community.

Where do you work? At the 4chan restaurant?
I think he was referring to the fact that you commonly hear pros rage at someone, excluding the use of racial slurs. I mean, turn on half those EU Terrans like Kas, Merz, etc, and half the time when they lose, they'll tell their opponent they're fucking terrible, etc. Yet there is nothing wrong with this? You think this would be tolerated in a work place? Absolutely not. Why do people not go after these people? The problem is you have many people with nothing better to do than try to stir up trouble for whatever short comings in their life. Find someone you don't like? Lets try to get them fired! Never been a fan of Destiny, but I've gained respect for him standing his ground. Therefore, I've been keeping his stream on 24/7. At the end of the day, this is just a game. Nothing more, nothing less. On May 06 2012 04:02 Mordiford wrote:
You realize Complexity removed him for the same reason right? Destiny was part of the ROOT acquisition, shortly after the acquisition he was removed. Why would they pick him back up? That makes no sense at all. Wow, Complexity never removed him. It was a mutual agreement, as they fully knew Destiny's attitude. Quantic knew of Destiny's attitude previous to signing him. Why they weren't prepared for something like this, more so after the Orb fiasco is insane. This is inaccurate though, I don't publicly flame my opponents unless I'm flamed at first, and even then It's rare. Saying half the time I lose I tell my opponents that they are fucking terrible is not something I'm ready to agree with, if you have the evidence in me doing so then fair enough but I really don't feel like I do that.
I will admit that was a gross exaggeration on my end. Keep in mind, I really enjoy you as a streamer, and I wasn't trying to attack you. I just remember a few specific games. One was a TvZ where you sniped his natural, and he made some crazy comeback because of infestors. Then there were a couple TvPs that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Honestly people like you in this thread really piss me off, someone being BM or saying words like Fuck is the same as seeing someone having a korean name and deciding to call them a Gook, or calling people Niggers when you lose.
On top of that you should know that emailing sponsors will hurt eSports in general but you are okay with doing that unjustified just because you are looking for a reason to bitch because you like Destiny. Grow up seriously, being offended is not even the reason for all of this happening.
This all happened because Destiny consistently uses racial slurs against people while being somewhat of a community figure who makes a living playing this game while being on a pro-team. If you constantly act like a dick to everyone use racial slurs and do whatever you feel like it is going to come back to bite you in the ass.
Really though to think some people compare saying Fucking to calling someone a Nigger is the same thing, fucking pathetic what is going on in this thread with Destiny fan boys. It is not right to act that way and say those things.
There comes a time where if the majority of people dislike you majorly, you need to ask yourself is it me or is it everyone else? It disgusts me how people like you are filled with double standards. Lets say you're playing under EG. Your opponent beats you, and you tell him, "Fuck you, you fucking retarded worthless piece of shit bastard." You really are ignorant enough to sit here and defend that? Because they didn't use a racist slur? Do you understand how silly you sound? I sure hope I misinterpreted your post.
I could have worded my post better, but no I am not defending being BM or being mean to other people like you described in fact I think it is wrong. The point i was trying to make is that saying fucking is not the same as saying "Nigger". I guess I did not word my post right but I in no way think it is okay to say "Fuck you, you fucking retarded worthless piece of shit bastard." I feel like the same consequences should apply to both situations with or without racial slurs if you are doing that to someone in a tournament or even on the ladder while streaming.
Also i'm not saying what the consequences should be, I am just agreeing with what you said because I guess I did not word my post properly sorry.

So in a way it reflects real life. Sadly. No one bothers to go for a middle ground, because people wont' bother trying to actually understand the issue or arguments involved, but rather try to justify their own personal belief. It's easier to just go to one extreme.

Tell that to Idra and his 10+ bans, last I saw Team Liquid supposedly isn't supposed to unlist progamers.

Destiny is not a "progamer". Not really.

I refuse to say these racial words personally, but I see no problem in Destiny using them the way he does, I don't find saying one of those words any worse than something like "What a fucking dumb idiot", but apparently there is no problem with that
