Quite the hipocracy to be offended by a stream that warns you up front for explicit language.
If you don't like it, confront the person or stop watching.

You are comparing crying to racial slurs? On what planet are we on? What is going on here??
"Got called a a gook/fag/nigger? Well too bad, go examine your life, its your problem!"
Do you understand just how utterly insane that sounds?
Someone can come up and call your mother a whore, and then straight up tell you that its your and your moms problem, not his. He is a fine individual, purely expressing his emotions, calling a woman a whore is just as normal as crying, eating and sleeping.
For the love of god what is going on in this thread!!!?

I mean the reponse of the community, especially from reddit, is a double standard, simply because they like destiny more, and that makes it ok for him to use ratial slurs.

So, did everyone forget that part of Destiny's joining of Quantic was that Quantic would be completely compliant with his streaming habits? I thought that was established long ago.
|
I agree with the view that the orb reaction/Destiny reaction are at odds with one another for the same thing. The Orb reaction was too far, the destiny one not far enough. the bronze through gold redditers who hang off destiny's every word seem to be dominating this, the guy should loose his featured streaming for a period of time at the very least. Let Quantic deal with his status as their player however.
I fear the reasonable posts will be lost in a sea of reddit-style idiocy tbh though :/

Shocking, the vaunted SC2 community blows Shit way out of proportion (again).

It's incredible this is still being labeled as a witch hunt of people who have nothing better to do with their lives than to ruin an "established figure" of Starcraft II scene.
Those of us who think this kind of behavior should not be tolerated are not arguing with people who are okay with it. Most of the people who are offended would turn to Destiny for an explanation. And Destiny said he doesn't give a fuck. So, if people are still offended and not persuaded by the offenders' justification/response/apology, it is within their power to pursue this as they wish.
However, most of the people who are okay with this behavior are just arguing through ad hominems, or trying to prove that being offended by this behavior is a sign of no-lifers. If you are okay with it, how about trying to understand that some people genuinely have a problem with this kind of language in general, or this kind of language in starcraft II as an e-sports in particular. You don't really help the situation by saying "ur trying to fuck destiny in the ass," or by saying "you are blowing this out of proportion." Whose proportion are you talking about? Ideas, beliefs, and worldviews are all subjective. You do not have the monopoly over the "right" way of doing/hearing/understanding/accepting things.

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything. Orb =/= Destiny.
Its not destiny's job to watch what he says because a kid might look up to him. It's the parents job to make sure the kid isn't being influenced by what they percieve to be bad influences. When i was growing up i wasn't allowed to watch the simpsons...and i never did my parents made sure of that.
Is it harder to filter what your kid sees nowadays, yes. But its still up to the parents to do it. Thats the responsibilty you take on when you have a kid

I won't stop till something is done about this kid, finally. A lot of us been fed up with this guy for a long time. Lol if you don't like it, don't watch. Its so simple! I don't watch, ever . LOL who said i watch him? So why do you care so much, why have you been "fed up with him for such a long time'? If someone used racist terms in RL you probably wouldn't do a damn thing, but someone says gook in a video game and suddenly you think something must be done and his career must end. Strong priorities in TL kids. How come orb's career got ruined for 1 thing? Why shouldn't this be applied to Destiny? You think I supported the orb witchhunt at all? It was just another case of sad white knights having nothing better to do than to jump on someone and ruin them. The orb witchhunt was 99% people saying "black people should be offended by the word nigger, therefore I am going to join the hunt! Now where did I leave that pitchfork? And where's my torch?" Absolutely fucking ridiculous how people will do their best to fuck someone else in the ass when they really aren't affected by what happens in any way what so ever. That may be true, but it has no bearing on the validity of Orb's firing. The "witch hunt" wasn't the one making the decisions. A decision was made based on the witch hunt, though. If no one had cared, orb would still be with EG. How do you know that? As I recall the only change in decision came because of the screenshots, and in them were enough to make a principled change in decision.

No for 2 reasons:
1) MKP with his head in his arms is his own PERSONAL emotion. He's not directing it at people, he's not dragging other people into the fact that he lost. He's upset at himself, not raging at his opponent.
2) If I was playing Destiny and I got called a nigger or a gook, I'd take some amount of offense at least. If I was playing MKP and after the match he had a little cry, that's not offensive to anyone.
There's a difference between expressing emotion, being mad or sad that you lost, being pissed at a cheese tactic etc, and raging/flaming/spouting racial slurs at your opponents.

You can swear up and down that you don't mean it in that way, but you chose that word for a reason. Words like nigger and faggot didn't always carry power as vehicles of racism. But I think they will for a long time in the future so long as people refuse to accept that they are used in other senses.
