While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.

The fact that one person gets banned from a tourament or loses there free seed shouldnt deter you from some of the best starcraft in the world... Whos to say naniwa would of made it past round 1? The fact is he did somehting that they saw as disrespectful. He could of just 1gate zealot all in rushed to make it seem more legit. But Seeing as he let his emotions get the best of him. I would feel that after this he would of learned his lesson big time. We're not killing esports, we're standing for what we believe in. It'd be criminal if I continued paying and supporting GSL after they did something I really can not agree with just because of this stupid notion of YOU'RE RUINING ESPORTSSSS!!!

i guess i have to make a conscious effort to not watch the gsl now

As disappointing as Naniwa's actions were, it's very hypocritical if the GSL took such actions. Talk about double standards.
|
This is not an overreaction. If GOM doesn't ban Nani, they send a message to the rest of the players that "yes it's ok to throw games". I don't care how meaningless that game was, Naniwa chose to participate in the tournament, then he should play every single game that's required of him.

You guys want eSports to grow, but you want people that are unprofessional to go unpunished. You can't have it both ways.

You don't make a fool of yourself and the people hosting the tournament you're playing in and expect to be able to keep your spot.
This isn't some second class league begging for people to come play in it, this is the GSL and there's a line out the door of professionals who want a shot at Code S. Naniwa doesn't deserve special treatment.
I'm happy Sen got the spot, I can't wait to see how he does. Exactly. And he was invited based on performance in a another tourney. Which is a sweet easy way to get into Code S compared to battling better players in Code B and Code A. Good riddance Naniwa.

because gom wouldn't have punished them if their team didn't right?
face it, naniwa is a disgrace to Korea gaming, and you have to view that from their perspective and culture, not your own

He cannot handle himself emotionally as a professional. He can't hold to his own word. Naniwa agreed to play all 4 games. He put himself in that position.
This is all on Naniwa. He's unprofessional, and it's about time someone made him grow up or get out.

Well Gom doesnt have anything to do with that particular tournament. And coca got punished pretty bad by his own team lol.

good job gomtv for banning that bming kid! However i feel that they shouldve chose a better replacement, Sen by all means isn't a bad player but i feel that giving the seed to an accomplished gsl veteran in code a or up and down is much better.

I think a warning or fine would of sufficed but a BAN? I've seen alot worse things with NO penalty. I'm not a naniwa fan but if a Korean did it I doubt there would be a ban. Jus sayin.
|
I'm glad about the decision. Gom could have dished out an even more severe punishment since what he did was completely unacceptable.
|
good decision imo. Naniwa acts like an immature school kid, punishment is needed to put him in his place.

If SlayerS didn't punish CoCa, GOM would've.
SlayerS just did the respectful thing and punished him themselves.

Its the first season of GSL 2012, I wouldnt go overbaord with not subscribing to GSL Premium. Naniwa didnt take a game off the top players and gave up miserably. I definately feel sorry for Nani but really that stuff is sad to see when a player probe rushes because he thinks its not worth it. Think of the fans and how we stayed up late at night to see this guy play and he literally does not give a crap about anyone but himself.. Goodluck Nani!

It's just 1 month. Normally it wouldn't be that bad, but it really sucks that he worked so hard to get into that spot to have it taken away from him. Having said that, he has to understand (which I'm sure he does now) that Koreans have a different mind set when it comes to these things, and he has to act accordingly when on their turf. I really hope he doesn't give up hope and quits his road to a GSL win. He has great potential and I would love to see him continue to grow.

They can choose what players to invite and who to ban. Its like similar to what Artosis said about caster bashing, players need to be punished via bans from leagues if they do these sort of things.
Its not just being unable to view Naniwa. It's the attitude of the organization to ban him. When you strongly disagree with the attitude or stance of an organization, it's natural to be disinclined to buy their service.
As to players needing to be banned from leagues if they do this... Ok. Fine. But at least give a warning to Naniwa, and just make it clear at this point that further behaviour of this sort, from anyone, is bannable...

Cho you better not show at any more MLGs. everyone lost respect for GOMTV
