While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.

Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned!
- Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM
- Comparing people to Hitler
- Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum.

I do like that. Naniwa isn't one of them.

He is. He got many very solid titles to his name and put up really good games in the Blizzard Cup. I don't even know where to start.

To be considered the best, he'd have needed some code S results. Guess he won't have those any time soon

Just like people call Hero and Puma best despite being completely awful in GSL?

I guess this is what happens when you host something as the GSL in a country who hates other cultures. I am from Sweden and I have learned from young age to respect other cultures even if I don't always agree with them. I guess thats what is being raised in a civilized western country. Maybe we are wrong and should be more like Korea, force every immigrant to behave just like us swedes or punish them in every single way we know of. Would that be fair?

Are you seriously retarded? Can all the swedish people here please stop ur retarded biased bullshit, u dont have anything to say so u spit out the most dumb shit u can think of.
I'm from sweden aswell and this is just embarassing

And what do you have to say? Real mature for you insult me when I bring up some important facts. I guess you are one of those swedes who go out on the streets insulting everyone from a different culture

So in sweedish culture people do things like that?

I guess you haven't seen alot of sport! Games that mean nothing are constantly "thrown" in professional sports and no one really cares about it. Does it really matter how you throw the game? In my eyes Naniwa was just honest instead of pretending to play a decent game.

I watched enough sports to know that if any team just starts dicking around like walking and doing nothing during a game they would be beheaded, even if they have no chance to going on

Yes but the teams plays with shitty lineups = they are not taking the game seriously.

People actually think this was a legit rush? Naniwa didn't even micro. His hands weren't even on the keyboard!

If he faked effort there would be no way this happens. Naniwa brought this upon himself for blatantly throwing a match. Any organization that wants to be respected by the real world and not nonsensical blind fanboys would do this. No sponsor will ever look at GOM and feel respect if they don't do something about it cause Naniwa's fans would be pissed. You are an organization. You do not roll over for the players. The players are not gods (unless they're Flash ) and they have to abide by the rules and realize that actions have consequences. They are not above the tournament.

The guys are called Pro-Gamers, that implies they are "Professionals" at what they do. I don't see any Professional in any other sport forfeit the chance to beat one of the top 5 other contenders in that sport, regardless of what tournament situation they are in. I am neither a hater nor fanboi of Naniwa, I really like to watch his games, because he is "sooo good at SC2" (as some casters we know and love might put it) but the attitude he is showing might come back and bite him some day. You either want to be the best (or one of the best) or you are in it just for the money.

From an observers point of view (as is the only one that we viewers have - don´t pretend it is otherwise, none of you actually knows the exact development of events right at the event was - If Nani wanted to forfeit and they didn´t let him as someone stated, or if he set down in his boot, was pissed and an a split second decided "well, I dont want to play this out right now") I think GOM´s actions are completele justified.
It is not about BM being pinned to a disrespectful strategy (this goes out to you "double standard guys"), it is about how he executed that strategy. The BM for me lies in the fact that he didn´t micro at all - so his play was bound to fail. Had anyone ever pulled off to 7 probe rush Nestea and beat him with probe micro, the crowd would go wild. (Not that I think it would be possible but... you get the point)

TLDR;
Professionals don´t mess up like that. Yay GOM - keep up the quality!

Apologies for bad english :>

In GSL they play for audience! Not for themselves. Do you think in normal JOB you can say to your boss that you have bad humor and dont wanna work? NO!

Naniwa, no matter what he think, should just sit in that booth and give fight with all his heart! To respect Korean audience, NesTea, GSL stuff, online audience etc.

This match wasnt meaningless, if not for Naniwa it has meaning for audience, probably for NesTea...
This is not a playground for 3yo kinds, this is professional tournament, for professional players.
His duty as a player was to give his best in that game!

With all his heart!? Do you really think that any progamer can do this after being eliminated in the most frustrating manner in 3 extremely close games?

For Nestea and Naniwa it stopped being a tournament the moment they got 0-3. From them on it became an annoying waste of time.

Also, it's quite disrespectful to start a post with "Kids"...

Really? Does FC Munich just quit the field when they are down 0-3 in the 80 minute? Does Hamilton decide to just not drive the last 3 races if he can't be world champion? Your comparison makes me sick. They are professionals and they should act like they are.

At least they will have a shot for a miracle Naniwa had nothing

Not surprising really, arguably its pretty harsh but one has to remember this is Korea where stuff like this is taken far more seriously than it would be in a western tournament. Culturally the idea of respect and following the spirit of competitive play is held in higher regard there. So I would think GOM would come down quite hard on this kind of behaviour.

Still though, kind of feel for Nani, he was probably just pissed about going 0-3 and in a moment thought 'fuck this' for the game that didn't matter. Lesson learned I guess.

I agree with huk

LorangerChris

if it was a korean player, they would be out of gsl for months, kicked out of team house, and etc. is he perma baned or just this season?

LorangerChris

As much as everyone likes to overuse "killing esports", noone actually uses in the example when it actually is. Things like this kil esports

I think that this is a perfectly right and fitting punishment. Naniwa should not have done what he did and he deserved consequences for his actions. I think this is a fair and deserved response to his actions.

why are people comparing what Naniwa did to dropping a bm MULE?

Because BM winning ceremonies are just as unprofessional as what Nani did to a lot of us but the Gom execs seem to think they're A-OK. When you think about it they serve no purpose towards winning the game and are simply done to aggravate the opponent. If they're going to punish people for 'abusive behaviors' they should be consistent about it.

something done to aggravate the opponent is different from throwing a game you were paid and scheduled to play

they are entirely different

The match was meaningless. If this match was to decide who was last in the up and down groups it wouldn't have been played. The only reason GOM showed it was because NESTEA VS NANIWA DRAMA OMG VIEWER COUNTS!!!!

And thats the Point! Some People stand up all night long or woke up early, or used their break at work to watch that re game between Nestea and Nani. Rly no one cant be satisfied with that performance from nani, not the 3games before, u can lose to stupid one base allin´s. Just imagine CR or Leo Messi act like this in a Classico after they are 3goals behind.
