Very, very arbitrary decision.
NaNiwa not invited to Code S - Page 64

While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people. Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned! - Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM - Comparing people to Hitler - Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum.

Although it's subjective, I think many people will say Naniwa was disrespectful in one way or the other. The question is, is his punishment fair? Do his actions call for a ban from the first season?

However, GOM made the bigger mistake here.

There is a rule where if a player is determined to be unfit of being a progamer they can deny them participation. Being in Code S is a privelage, not a right. It can be taken away if you do something stupid like that to GOM.

Any reasonable organisation that plans to host a Global event has to accept that people from countries outside their own will have different ideals and will not act in a manner that will conform to you strict cultural sensibilities. Complexity and Quantic have now suffered significant financial damages because of this decision. Furthermore, Naniwa has invested significant time and effort into participating in this league and is now suspended. GOM has even stated that Naniwa is a money-hungry player. This suggests that GOM probably did not consult Naniwa before they made their decision. Why? Because Naniwa has maintained and shown that, whilst he is introverted and has trouble keeping his emotions in check, his aspirations lie with being the best. I stopped reading your post after the first line. A Global Starcraft League does not have to cater to every culture. To do so would be absolutely retarded. Should theocratic-based cultures determine whether or not females involved with GSL casts have to act differently or wear different clothing if one individual from such a culture gets invited? Fuck no, and if it happened it'd be absurd. All a league that intends to be global needs to do is offer the opportunity for people from the global community to compete within it. It establishes the rules, it sets the guidelines and it can operate however it wants. If some dumbfuck, backwards individual from a fringe yokel religion showed up to my Global Starcraft League and started shitting on how I permitted females to hold a job, I'd kick their ass to the curb. That's just how cultures work. Sometimes they don't intersect; sometimes there is no middle ground and sometimes one does not have to cater for the other. This is one of those times. The GSL has a set standard, they have punished people before for this type of inappropriate behavior and they sure as fuck weren't foreigners when it was done. Stop grasping for straws and stop fucking whining.

I personally think Naniwa did a shitty thing and should be punished. I'm Swedish. A lot of Swedes defend him because he has a lot of Swedish fans, it has nothing to do with Swedish culture.
