While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.
Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned! - Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM - Comparing people to Hitler - Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum. |
At the end of the day, the GSL is a private tournament and Naniwa doesn't have a right to be there.
If you insulted your employer and let them down, I doubt you would stay in your job. Same situation here. Naniwa disrespected the tournament blatantly (no-one even has to guess, he just wanted to leave) and he should be ready to face whatever punishment that tournament gives him. Whether the game was irrelevant or not has no impact, you agreed to play by participating, otherwise give the seed to someone else.
I will NOT however support the decision of any other tournament MLG/IPL/DH etc... if they were to ban Naniwa for this incident. It is not their issue to get involved with.

I dont like that a tournament dictates the way a player plays the game.

I love th idiots who keep saying that professional football players play every match all the way through.
News flash for you kiddies, THEY DON'T! They will kneel the ball almost every single time if they are way ahead or way behind. Furthermore, if they've already qualified for playoffs, they sit every single starter and basically throw the rest of their games away.
You are all uninformed and spiteful. That is all.

i pity those who aren't buying a GSL ticket next season/asking for a refund.
its gonna be SO EPIC CAN'T WAIT.

Nice English. Also, it seems fair to ban someone over a cheese.

Naniwa cares about getting 1st, there's a huge difference between that and caring only about prize money. I've heard so many say this about Naniwa, but never once from him. Honestly this feels like some self-justification for being unprofessional he tells his friends and I don't really see anything that makes this theory more legitimate then him simply being oblivious and selfish. You didn't answer. If Naniwa only cares about getting prize money (Chae called him an "amateur prize-money hunter") then why does he forfeit consolation matches for prize money? I don't think anyone except Naniwa can truly answer that without simply making something up. I don't understand what Naniwa ACTUALLY wants out of playing. Beating Nestea would be a great medal, a much better accomplishment then winning a random online tournament for example. Even if it's not tournament results, it is A RESULT to be proud of. He clearly doesn't have a lot of pride or dignity in his play, at least judging from that match, this was actually noted by Quantic Twitter. They said the match was for Pride just before it started and they clearly did not consult Naniwa before that post. Then again, he might just be completely oblivious to what people consider professionalism standards in the industry and believed Nestea wouldn't care about the game as well. He would be wrong. Maybe its not a real match for him when nothing is on the line? He knows that they both wont play serious, he knows that theyre both not focused, if I would want to show every1 how good I am I wouldnt want to play under less then optimal conditions either. He knews the game wouldnt have lived up to the hype anyways..
he's got a job to do, fans and a team looking for him to play hard
a rivalry with nestea
if he seriously can't focus himself enough to at least put up a game, even a bad game, he's a weak player.

for those defending Naniwa, be grateful he wasn't Korean lol. Well if he was Korean I doubt there would be this much of an uproar on TL.
If a korean did that to Naniwa, I'm pretty sure there would be an uproar as well lol

People posting here to say they arent going to watch GSL: Tell someone who cares. GOMTV doesnt design and admit the tourney to cater to your 'sensitive' tastes. Your favourite player throws a match? Damn straight they are going to punish him!
Get over it. You'll be watching on the free stream anyway - Shh, It'll be our secret

A warning after being told to play the match? How can GOM have such clairvoyance where they have to warn a player after being told to play the match out? Do you want GOM to take naniwa's past behavior into account and therefore warn him because he's given up multiple times in the past?
Come on, warning him in addition to being told to play the game? Let's be serious: a warning would only come in if naniwa told the tournament officials, well I'm just going to throw my match.

Gom should ban themselves. I remember them cutting games from group stages if it was clear the outcome of the game wouldn't affect the players who progress.

I've actually become a supporter of Sen with his recent appearances. Sen and Idra in Code S next season, I'll be happy with that for now. Both of these players will represent foreigners in a better light than Naniwa. Won't argue if more skillful, but certainly more professional. Yes I said Idra, more professional.

Imagine what would happen if teams who couldnt qualify for playoff stopped doing stupid shit on national television during games in NBA? Are you serious teams every year throw games for better chances at the top draft pick?
any team caught throwing a game would lose their draft pick.

Most open for interpretation rule they could write.
Zenio's throat slice to Idra in like Open season 3 or something, every single ceremony with any direction towards the opponent can fall under that rule. lol.

Best regards, zanmat0 I have to ask what you were even in it for in the first place. enjoy missing the best starcraft 2 on the planet anyone saying this is to halt foreigner dominance... LOL. how many shots has naniwa had in korea? and how many other foreigners. come on.
Do you understand the definition of a boycott? Evidently not.

Apparently, you know exactly what Naniwa and Nestea are thinking. Please tell us, what is Naniwa's reaction and what will he do from now on? What is Nestea's opinion on this decision?

Imagine you're on a sick sponsored baseball team. You're some bomb ass foreign pitcher that came out of nowhere and everyone wants some publicity with you.
Your team sets up an arrangement for you to throw the opening pitch for a high school baseball game. You know, good PR for your team and the league you play in. Everybody wins.
You step up to the plate, warm the ball up against your hand, wind up, gently roll the ball 10 feet in front of you and walk away.
I mean...the game didn't really matter right?

Fuck this, no more paying gom

Very good. Throwing games should not be allowed under any circumstances, and should always be punished as harshly as possible. If he didn't want to play the game, atleast fucking 4 gate or something, which actually has a chance of working.
