While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.
Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned! - Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM - Comparing people to Hitler - Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum. |

Pretty much.
I highly doubt the viewership from sweden for GSL will decrease. If anything, most of them just wont pay for it but stay up for the free stream anyways.

Seriously i'm starting to get sick towards standard cheating korean reactions.
Savior huge scandal = Ban for life Kespa+Gom Dimaga = Invited to World championships TT1 = Same Nani JUST THROW MATCH = Ban from a hardly won Code S seed
Look up to your standards seriously. That's like when you give IdrA the Code S seed when the guy left after you started season in GSL2? wtf.
And i'll repeat it, actually i'm a big idra fand i really dislike Nani. But come on GSL, your organisation sucks, your tournament will suck, and i hope MLG will break partnership with you.

Dear GOMTV:
I am very disappointed in your overeaction regarding the Naniwa incident and as such, I would like to request a refund for my recent $70 purchase of the 2012 GSL ticket.
Best regards, zanmat0

Idra's gg'd won games and has spewed an unprovoked "Fuck you" to MouzMana in the IPL, broken his keyboard after losing to Trimaster along with a slew of other immature reactions.
Idra's getting a Code S spot. He doesn't sound like a paragon of mature behavior after losing to me. Face it, Naniwa got crucified.

I'm glad i didn't buy a season ticket. GSL is a joke for taking itself seriously? Do you even realize what you just said? Its a joke for a big organisation like gom to ban players at their discretion with no rules being broken Naniwa did break a rule. He disrespected Nestea by not playing out the game (Regardless of whether or not it mattered), and he disrespected the audience by robbing them of a potentially good game because he decided it wasn't worth his effort, despite the fact that Naniwa is supposed to be a "Pro-gamer". This is bullshit. So basically, cheese is a bannable offence then? Manner nexux? Manner mule? Because Nestea, or any other player could view it as disrespectful if someone decides to cheese or manner mule them in a tournament. And besides, naniwa he did play out the game. Obviously not to the best of his ability. But once again, that is completely subjective. Had he simply left the game or refused to play, that is a more clear cut situation.
why do you think comparing an completely unwinnable strategy to a cheese is a valid comparison? one can win the game and satisfy the basic norms of opponent respect and general guidelines of participating in a tournament, one avoids all of this in favor of just being done because you're in a poor mood.
he did refuse to play, you count a 0% win potential as playing? mathematically, I'm pretty sure that's a goddamn loss.

This is literally just shitting on their viewers. Do they really expect people to pay for their sevices, and get emotionally engaged in their players, when they just ban players on a whim? Not even a warning? Not a fine?
GOMTV, I sincerely regret to ever have bought your services, and I feel utterly betrayed as a customer. I hope you are fucking happy. I think GOM wants to show good Starcraft. Not drone rushing. Fans are mad obviously Good starcraft... then why is there no punishment when NesTea didn't take the showmatch versus Huk seriously? What about when NesTea threw away the game versus Huk in Group Stage Ro16 by making the most basic practise-league mistakes? What about all the countless cheese done by players in the Arena of Legend or Blizzard Cup itself? Korean progamers themselves have done retarded strategies and builds that show no sign of metagaming and thought put into it with no regard to the viewing experience whatsoever, and Gom hasn't given a crap about that.
I guess the difference is that they never publicly admitted that they made those "mistakes" on purpose so they would lose. It's one thing to do it, it's another to publicly admit to doing it on purpose.

It's the right choice. Throwing games purposely is a disgrace for korean progamers that strive to join these cups and pride themselves on the honor of a win. Allowing such behaviour only leads to matchfixing, making an example out of byun, coca and naniwa is great.

the removal of seed is an overreaction, but naniwa should have known about the posible consequences.

Im kinda new and planned on purchasing a ticket for the first time but nope, never will get money for this shit in my life... This is soo disgusting, seriously. If he says he couldnt have played a good game anyways and couldnt deliver a good show, then what is the point of forcing him to play?
had he just 4 gated, same result... You've obviously never played organized sports have you? If so, you would understand that despite being in a losing and unwinnable situation, you still try your best. When the Lakers are whooping on the Clippers by 30 points with 2minutes left in the game, the refs don't just call it quits. The coach of the Clippers doesn't forfeit the game. The players still play the game out. It's called being sportsmanlike, and if you don't act that way you deserve the repurcussions given to you. Because they cant since theoretical something impossible could happen.. Like the munich vs manchester game.. But the referee finishes the game the moment the official time is over..
It's not theoretical in MANY situations. I can come up with countless scenarios where it is mathematically impossible with the time of possession for each team, etc., where one team just cannot win with the time left. In those situations, you still see professional athletes play the game out.
Now, to the many people comparing the idra IPL situation, and the Demuslim situations, I agree as well. If I was running those tournaments, I would do something as well. Unless there is some physical impediment that is making you unable to continue the game/series, you should be expected to give it your 100%. It is an amateurish and immature attitude to think that just because you are eliminated, you don't have to give even an ounce of effort to finish your matches.
The sad thing for Naniwa though is that he unfortunately has to be the guy who's made an example of.

GSL will go on without you. I guess you guys aren't capable of respecting other peoples' opinions. Especially the ones that matter (that is, GOM staff as a whole).
Seriously? Let it go on without us then, if enough people boycott it because of this stupid ruling, we'll make an impact. I'm not doing it to "teach GSL a lesson", I'm doing it because it's not right and it goes against everything I believe in.
Thats funny, because just about te same amount of ppl, if not more supported this move by GOM lmao.

Naniwa cares about getting 1st, there's a huge difference between that and caring only about prize money. I've heard so many say this about Naniwa, but never once from him. Honestly this feels like some self-justification for being unprofessional he tells his friends and I don't really see anything that makes this theory more legitimate then him simply being oblivious and selfish. You didn't answer. If Naniwa only cares about getting prize money (Chae called him an "amateur prize-money hunter") then why does he forfeit consolation matches for prize money?
Why can't we call into question the mentality of only caring about prize money? That's juvenile and I expect more.

The Naniwa punishment was by far overboard. do you people think at all before posting things like this? do you think leenock playing a full game and doing typical korean BM style :: naniwa skipping out on playing a game for his fans, the people that paid to see him play and the general welfare of the company paying him to play games for them because he was in an emo mood are in any way comparable as an analogy? You can't have your cake and eat it too. You can't complain about the lack of professionalism and then turn around and allow it because you feel like it. Either punish everyone for it, or don't punish anyone about it. but they are entirely different things...
clearly everyone (except for those who want to use it as an argument) thinks what naniwa did (quitting a game because he was sad he lost) is different from what leenock did (tried to get inside his opponent's head in a bo5 where he was down 0-2)

I don't think anyone except Naniwa can truly answer that without simply making something up.
I don't understand what Naniwa ACTUALLY wants out of playing. Beating Nestea would be a great medal, a much better accomplishment then winning a random online tournament for example. Even if it's not tournament results, it is A RESULT to be proud of. He clearly doesn't have a lot of pride or dignity in his play, at least judging from that match, this was actually noted by Quantic Twitter. They said the match was for Pride just before it started and they clearly did not consult Naniwa before that post. Then again, he might just be completely oblivious to what people consider professionalism standards in the industry and believed Nestea wouldn't care about the game as well. He would be wrong.
