While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.
Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned! - Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM - Comparing people to Hitler - Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum. |

Putting aside moral standards and respect, did he actually break a GSL rule? For example; "A player is not allowed to intentionally throw a match or perceiving to throw a match." With something like that I can see the punishment. However if this is just a matter of "honor" then I can't agree with this at all. Do you know how ridiculous it sounds to expect a tournament to have a written rule that players cannot intentionally lose matches? It should go without saying that players are expected to not throw matches.
It's actually not that ridiculous. If you're going to have a format where two players are already out of the tournament and you expect them to play a real game then you should probably format your rules to suit it.

Looking forward to watching the games of whoever replaces him =) Sen replaces him so it's not that bad. BTW, it seems that there actually rules against what Naniwa's did, as posted by TBO and CryingPoo in the other thread: GomTV can deny your participation if you are found unfit to be a gamer.
- 경기중에 과격한 행동으로 상대 게이머나 관중들에게 위협을 가할 때 - During a match, a player shall not offend the opponent or audience with abusive behaviours
If Naniwa is viewed as disrespectful to his opponent and viewer then it would be fit with the second rule, and again they can deny entry as they want from the first place. Quoting this so more ppl see this. So according to that rule, if someone six pooled me and danced with the lings, and I viewed it as offensive, they too would be banned from the GSL?

if this is true, i support gom's decision anyway

Its a joke for a big organisation like gom to ban players at their discretion with no rules being broken
Naniwa did break a rule. He disrespected Nestea by not playing out the game (Regardless of whether or not it mattered), and he disrespected the audience by robbing them of a potentially good game because he decided it wasn't worth his effort, despite the fact that Naniwa is supposed to be a "Pro-gamer".

He was already punished by his team.

Seriously this is wake up call to Naniwa, hope he reads my comment to act more professional.

I'm glad they do have no double standards regarding CoCa and Naniwa

I lost all respect for Gom today. You don't ban someone from your tournament who broke no rules and then proceed to call him dishonorable and a prizemoney hunter on air.
Incredible lack of professionalism by Gom and they just lost a paying customer.

I`m glad that GOM didn't make an exception just because he is a foreigner! Naniwa learn how to be professional - which not only means play the game really good i agree with this, i guess question is should foreigners receive special treatment like they have been so far or be treated more on par with koreans?
And the answer is obviously no?!?! Why should they?!
Also cheers, I'm a huge fan

Dude that's fucked up, I can't imagine how destroyed Naniwa must feel now.

Most people need to realize GOM doesn't usually make their large group matches play useless games. IF you watch the UP&DOWN matches. You will know they don't play out games that no longer affect the results.
I hope people realize they only had that match because fans requested it so much. It was supposed to be a grudge match for pride. Unfortunately, one was too tilted to play it out.

And the difference is what exactly?

I guess inviting Greg out of nowhere is a move to calm down the foreign fans. No disrespect to IdrA, but Nani has earned his spot in the code S. IdrA , as good as he is, got a direct seed to calm the foreign scene. it isn't naniwa that is being unprofessional, he did what his contract dictated and showed up for the game. If GOM then decides he is 'unworthy' for the code S, that's just an ugly move. As I said: if they start doing this, I want to see ALL the cheesers kicked out, that seems only fair.
Don't even try to compare 4 gates, 6 pools or all-ins with a probe rush play using one hand please. Those strategies can still caught people off-guard, even though the chance is low. They can still win with those strategies. Probe rush with using one hand, not in a million years.

If his team did absolutely nothing, GOM would obviously have banned him

No they didn't, slayers did it for them. Anyways, coca did that in a tournament gom had nothing to do with.

You're not Gom. Gom has every right to do what they do because it's their tournament and they run it.
