What it did: - Prevented me from opening any programs - Said i had a virus(Keylogger) with a fake windows security box. If you click the box it asks you to purchase a fake virus protection. - Disabled all windows security features and locked me out of regedit and everything And what makes you think that you are the first person ever to experience this virus specifically from GOMplayer? If Gom player, or, more specifically, the download link that GomTV provides for the Gomplayer, had a virus, you would not be the only one experiencing it. Try to use some common sense.

It's highly unlikely that he got a virus downloading the gom player, however he could have downloaded it from a third party site who is packaging a virus with it, in which case it would be nice to know so other people don't have to go through the trouble of cleaning their computer. If you did download it through the gomtv.net site it is near impossible for it to be the cause of the virus though.

What did you do other than installing the player? Did you have a mobile storage device of some sort plugged in? If yes, i suggest you analyse all your storage devices. If not, then you need to remember everything you've done before/after installing the gom player.

Remember Warcraft 3 >.>? Edit - What browser are you using and which sites have you visited in the past? Generally it's always a good idea to use Firefox or Google Chrome with Noscript or Notscripts (for Chrome) - Make sure to set it to block iframes too in preferences and never enable scripts on fishy sites.

Some bullshit executibles pop up in my temp internet files and one of them pops up that fake windows vista security center. It also hijacks trying to open exe files (modifies the reg files). I always work around it by opening command prompt and specifying with admin access or it won't let me (says doesn't know how to open .exe) and then running malware bytes. I also had to delete one of the exe files through process manager before it let me do anything without popping up and trying to run a fake security scan (open the process location and delete it). Each day the files had different names but acted the same way. I would post the logs but I'll be away from my laptop for a week so sorry! Only sites I had open when these exes showed up in my temp internet files were own3d, tl, my school site, and Facebook. I didnt post about it cause I figured I'm just missing something on my end but if this helps anyone. Sometimes websites may have ads which install malware (something TV ads do not do, which is why TV ads > internet ads). Wikias had a bad case two years or so ago but it's now resolved. Also is your OS (Windows?) up to date?

EDIT: just to clarify about avast it would pop up and say threat defended or whatever it does but the bullshit vista security would already start popping up and being a pain in the ass and already my reg files would be changed etc.
