Just to paraphrase:

Starcraft 1 is old and is a better game(he doesnt say how, but im assuming he means balance).

Starcraft 2 has better graphics, more sponsors, and casual players are more interested in it.

This is pretty much the general consensus. I think a lot of people would still be playing SC1 if they had the skill to support it (I would). But it's so much easier to get into Masters than to improve from D to C.

This is a mutually agreed upon fact by pretty much everyone except those that came for sc2 and never played bw, this doesn't warrant its own thread.
