Okie, I know that there have been a lot of portrait farmers, people who solely play the games just to achieve some rewards when they win or do the tasks required to get the achievements.

However, in order to encourage people to play more, why don't Blizzard start this reverse psychology thing and at the same thing, comfort the people or using some funny portraits and awards to make them feel better?

Purple heart, etc...? What do you think? :D

seems like more of an incentive for people to just mass lose games like the botters, either way it'd end up being farmed just as easy

rewarding people for losing seems like , noobing them game more so than they have by removing losses

Sounds great, except the portrait farmers will get even more portraits, because they lose a lot, then win a lot, thus getting all the portraits
Just my take on in ^-^

Rather not have people throwing games on ladder just so they can get there silly portraits. You shouldn't be playing sc2 for pictures. When people lose your reward is trying to improve your play.

You know, I think promoting ladder play for casuals is good, but that isn't the way to go. If there were things like a portrait for a 10 loss streak.

What I can see working however is portraits for say 100 games player over 15 minutes, then 250 - so on.

I don't think this is a bad idea at all. I mean if Blizzard were going to invest their time in anything I'd hope it wasn't this because there are about a million other things I wish they would spend time on... but having that said, why not add something extra for the players that struggle? It doesn't hurt anyone else!

Everyone wins half of their games anyways. If anything, you would give people portraits for playing a bunch of games.

why not just force it to be a minimum of a 12 minute game before it counts as a win for portraits then people couldn't just 6 pool all day for them

I also don't like the idea of almost every portrait being a reward for victories only. There could be somes that require making 100 000 drones, 100 000 000 army value etc, so it would count our losses.

Every single one of them could be exploited, but at least it would require different exploits...

Maybe not for losing specifically, but maybe for total games played, or total time playing a certain race? It would continue to give a player rewards regardless of winning or losing, but not encourage the population of achievement enthusiasts to throw games and screw up the ladder. Or even perhaps for total times completing a game on a certain map or total time spent on Starcraft2 Battle.net.

I've always felt it would be a good idea to reward players for reaching certain leagues. Anyone can get 1000 wins with each race with an MMR of nearly zero, but wouldnt it be good if you were rewarded with like a diamond decal for reaching the league. Sure heaps of people would have it, but alot of people wouldn't. Would be an achievement that requires skill, not time.

Anyways I think a good fix would be to remove unlockable portraits. Either make them all public either wipe em all out. If you're playing sc2 just for the portraits you should not be playing it at all in the first place...

but of course casual players who don't get into the hardcore playing still need a feat to achieve, and they will pay the 60$ the game is worth anyways, so forget about any portrait fixing

You never know.. Step 1 remove the loss counter to make people feel awesome, Step 2 grant portrait to people who are terrible, Step 3 Grandmaster Bronze League - for the best of the best of Bronze..

A bit ridiculous; play the game, if you play casually why would you care either way?

Yea, like I said some people maybe trying real hard in order to achieve certain levels in the game but the commitment like time consumed for playing, etc is a big factor to why some players do not improve drastically like the others. I know that some of my friends play the game just because of the story/campaign and once they finished with that, they basically just leave the multiplayer alone because they feel that they will never achieve those cool portraits or decals from winning since they do not have time to practise because of work.

Therefore, I feel that if rewarding these 'casual' players, it will at least boost the playability for them and once they start to spend a little more time on the game, they will obviously improve eventually. Thus, the rewards for losing may come into account.

That's what I personally feel anyway, from the marketing point of view.

purpose of a game is to have fun, pro gamers have fun by being pros, casuals have fun by being casual, some people have fun by farming portraits, the moment you take the fun out of it, blizzard may as well be paying you to play as it'll become "work" instead of "play"

Terrible idea. All people would do is set up their comps to auto search/leave games overnight. Unlike farming for winning portraits, for losing ones you will 100% be able to get them doing nothing at all lol.
