Hey guys, I'm doing a report for my Computer Engineering class, and I've chosen keyboards. As one of my topics, it is on anti-ghosting, as well as n-key rollover. I was wondering if you could do me a favor, and hold BOTH shift buttons, then type the phrase:
the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog
and let me know: 1- What type of keyboard it is, as well as how it is connected to your computer (USB (1.0/2.0/3.0), PS2, Built-In, etc) 2- Type of OS 3- Whether or not you were surprised, and/or pleased with the results
Thanks, TL!!!!!
I'll go first: THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPED OVER THE LAZY DOG 1- MacBook Pro Built-In Keyboard 2- OS X 10.6.6 3- I am very happy
THEQCKBRWFXJEVERTHELAZYG 1- Razer BlackWidow Ultimate, via USB 2.0 2- OS X 10.6.6 3- Very surprised, as I figured my gaming keyboard would work flawlessly as well
EDIT: I received a PM (it's somewhere in the thread as well) that links to a thread that discusses this in great length. I would still like to use the results you guys have given me in my paper, and please, keep posting, but read the thread below if you are worried about your keyboard itself, or would like to know more about it.

They are all holding down both shift keys and typing:

Forum link (not sure if you have to be registered for this to work).
Surprise, surprise, they get lots of different results depending on the matrix of their keyboard/laptop. Unfortunately many are walking away passing the test and thinking their keyboard is N-key rollover. Or at least somehow better than somebody else's keyboards. Laptops are tending to pass the test for example because of the switch matrix.
97 pages!!! Morons.
Second reply on that post has a better test.
Basically, the thread states that the shift+shift+letters is not the best/most accurate test, but instead you should try out all sorts of key combinations, to see which ones will work and which won't.

I dunno about the BlackWidow, but the BlackWidow Ultimate doesn't have a PS/2 port. It has two USB (one for keyboard, one for passthrough), audio and microphone.

also @ OP, it's common knowledge that the Black Widow is only 2KRO apart from the WASD cluster. And also that the USB standard can only give you up to 6KRO, unless you play around with virtual drivers like with Microsoft Sidewinder and Noppoo Choc Mini.
Here's a useful tool you can play around with: Aquakeytest - http://www.otd.kr/bbs/board.php?bo_table=aikon_down&wr_id=50

My sentiments exactly. My first Lycosa was defective. Keys would randomly stop working and the touchpad would go out of whack almost daily. Got it RMA'd for a replacement, and the replacement has virtually the same problems, just less frequently.
Not only that but I was extremely disappointed in it when I first got it and realized it was so light/flimsy.
