Yeah it's been like that for a while. Splash game gets really messed up when you come out the vortex, hitting everything that comes out. It's not quite as abusive as Collosi with the FF though, so probably why it hasn't been patched out yet. Your army died pretty quick since most of your army was zerglings and mutas.

I'm assuming you are talking about the vortex situation. So to answer your question, I would.

1. Micro
2. Use 2-3 control groups instead of 1
3. Spread units out so that the vortex would only catch a few
4. Pretty much contain the toss and not let him expand. Would want to trade armies since I have the entire map and can macro faster, but I wouldn't go all in and try to eliminate him unless I could counter the mothership and finish him off easily. Primarily I would not let him get that 3rd up.

Considering how hard to get out and impractical the Mothership is, giving it this "super nuke" is fair imo.

Killing your opponent's army with minimal losses is good regardless of how many hatcheries have been placed. Even if he ended up losing, he would have lost much sooner if he hadn't eliminated his opponent's army.

sure ill be logical. the zerg had a total of 5 or 6 hatcheries and he should have had atleast 1 queen at each one. if he had 4 bases (one of them being a gold expansion) he should have been easily able to macro up another army instantly. he is zerg after all.

no matter how u look at it it was still 5 base zerg to 1 base toss. and im not gonna be a douch and call imba seeing as PvZ is pretty balanced imo. but i still will call that zerg bad.

first off if i was that zerg i wouldnt have atked pure ling muta. he had 4 or 5 bases up, no reason to NOT have ultras. thats the main reason he got wiped. 2ndly i would have sniped the mother ship off before i engaged. mother ships are to easy to snipe off because of how stupidly slow they are.

Mind posting the replay OP? I think there's a bit of confusion as to how developed his expansions were. From the looks of it he just put them up when he launched that attack.

That's actually something I noted a while ago during one of my first game of beta back in february.
I posted something on the blizzard forums suggesting that units should be invulnerable during something like 0.5s when the vortex finishes. I can't find the screenshots I took back then, but the situation was :
PvT, I vortex his whole army except 2-3 tanks that were in the back, some of my units were caught into the vortex. As soon as the vortex ends, all his units and my units that were in the vortex are clumped very very tight, his 2-3 tanks fire to kill my units, resulting in the death of his own whole army that was caught in the vortex.

This is also the reason there was a patch during beta that made forcefield being caught into the forcefield as well, because forcefielding around the vortex and having colossi in the back ready to fire when the vortex ends was just so abusable.

OP's situation seems similar to that, except that archons were the splash damage dealers.
I personally think something has to be done about that, I don't know if the idea of 0.5s invulnerability is balanced / a good idea, but it's easily abusable.

Considering how little weak Archons are, I think this at least gives them some (perhaps unintended) use. I think players should just be more aware of the threat of Vortex + Archon, and just avoid throwing their entire army inside all the time.

Also, I think they fixed it with the Tank too, which automatically unsiege after coming out of the Vortex.

People used to FF all around the vortex and AoE down anything that comes out.
My advice is to have a little more unit diversity: Considering the P have at least 1 robo, 1 stargate, 1 fleet beacon, it wouldnt hurt to also have some roaches and hydras, or even tech to ultras for the stalkers.

In my explanation, the siege tanks I was talking about were not vortex, they were out of the vortex, waiting for units to pop out of it.
True that archons have such a little use, but in OP's situation it's basically either you have your army split in half, either you die painfully to 3-4 archon shots :p
