Hello fellow Koreans, I'm in need of advice.

I'm in Korea visiting and went to a club in Korea (NB in Gangnam) for the first time yesterday. It was very different than I expected. All the girls are super super conservative and dance rated G. No freaking and they dance the same way for like hours. The girls want to dance by themselves and when guys approach girls, most of the guys get rejected. A lot of couples come to the clubs and only dance with each other. Some couples dance less conservative. In general most of the girls dance by themselves. Even some guys just dance with a group of friends. I thought it was really awkward at first.

I'm sure there's a different approach to all this? I got rejected so many times with different approaches... it's just so different. It isn't just me either, I've seen sooooo many native Koreans get rejected. I 'freaked' with like one girl (conservative freaking).

So come on. What's the secret? Wrong club maybe?

edit: I'm Korean American

edit: although on the basis of OPs reluctance to use actual words to refer to this I suspect he's fairly conservative on his own part ^^

Well, in my experience the smaller less crowded places are better for really getting a girlfriend and such since you can actually talk and meet people. The really crowded places are good if you want to just get some physical contact I suppose. Basically what you do is you stand behind a girl, grab her waist and hope she responds positively. They sometimes have one of their girlfriends signal them if the guy that's approaching her is attractive or not. Personally I don't like it since you can't talk nor are you really able to see her face, but that's how it goes.

Some other Korea-specific tips:
1. Getting a phone number doesn't mean much. Don't think you got a 2nd date even if you managed to get her number. They almost give their phone number to anyone that asks and then just ignore the messages/calls if they have no interest.
2. Don't ignore the guys. Get friendly with the group. If you think you hit it off with a girl don't expect her to simply leave her group of friends for you (she'll look slutty). Instead get her number, let her leave, then ask her to come back with a text message (so her friends don't notice!). She'll say bye to her friends, get in a taxi, and then get out again real soon to meet you some place.
3. Go drinking with her. Most party girls drink a lot too in Korea, and really, getting drunk together is the best way to get intimate.

Do they still have the deal where if you buy admission to NoiseBasement/Harlem, you get into the other one as well? That's what I did, and what I found was that usually one club will get packed while the other stays kinda dead. When I was there club Harlem was definitely way more packed, and it wasn't hard at all to dance with girls..
I guess to be fair I was there in the winter, near New Year's (1/1, not the lunar new year) and so a lot of people were out partying. Another approach is to go with a group that includes some females (ideally the m/f ratio would be less than 1, but that's difficult sometimes) and dance with them.

I hope you have a good approach before you even start to think about grinding with some of them. The consensus I get from many women is that they don't like getting their 'freak' on unless they're really into the guy and yeah Korean culture is a lot more conservative, so you have to adjust your approach accordingly. I'd put the charm on heavy and show them I know how to move before seducing them.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest you read The Mystery Method and other mPUA books, which should give you any sense of confidence you could be lacking in your approach, or conversation. Given enough time you could easily write a piece yourself detailing how to adapt the current PUA methods for the Korean scene.

General guess: it doesn't sound like you're going where the freaks are, but that DOESN'T mean you can't get these 'conservative' chicks anyway, just get them out of their shell!

Further suggestion: post on some PUA forums, see what those guys have to say. Maybe some have already trekked into Korea, but haven't written about it or I haven't seen it. It's worth a try and they can give you very specific, detailed advice. If they haven't actually ventured into the area, they're likely to all be very curious about the girls, because despite the stigma, most PUAs love women. Typically it'll be good to have a working knowledge of the general concepts and lingo they're likely to use, hence the suggested reading.

I prefer 홍대 definitely... the girls there are a lot more liberal there. Even if I don't pick up, I always get a lot of numbers and have a great time. ^^
