hi... I've seen many replays of Zerg on LT. (Z v T) And I'm wondering when to use one of this strategy. I've heard that u gotta do diffent build in different position (12,3,6,9)
so when should i go for: 9 drones then expand @ natural 11 drones then expand @ natural 12 drones then expand @ natural
and which way do u guys prefer over each other.
for me I like doing 12 drones then expand @ natural, then spawning pool.

well there are many possibilities, depending on you and your opponents position, usually if its 6/9 i would use a 10 hat 9 pool build and then tech to spire for drops since its a big possibility
but for farther positions, id suggest 11hat 10 pool because bunker rush >12 hat so i dont particularly use that build as often as i used to but then once your lair is up and ready to go you can do a lot of things that can happen depending on what you do and what your opponent does
|
If you wanna end it quick, just 4 pool.
|
I guess 9 hatch build is vs. toss or for 12/3 terran. I kinda prefer 12 pool expand over that but you're forced to make lings cause your sunks are late.
|
i think it's risky to do an early expansion at 12o'clock. hard to place the sunkens.

These are my favorite builds on LT:
ZvP: -12 hatch @ ramp -11 pool. I think expanding to natural is just a bit to weak to zeal rushes. But if you REALLY want to I would: -11 hatch @ natural -10 pool
ZvZ: -12 hatch @ main -11 pool. This works very well. It is fast enough to fend off 9 pools, and keeps your base nice and compact so it isn't vunerable to mutua harrass later in the game. If you are worried about a 7 pool, I would: -9 pool -10 hatch ( w/ extractor pop)
ZvT: -13 hatch @ natural -12 pool. As long as you watch for bunker rushes, this build gives you a heavy eco and allows for more gas later game.

I used to do the 12 pool thing.. but the game would turn gay.. if my enemy just fast expand.. then i wont b able to rush him and he will out number me

i kno i suck and i dont think i like the advice here, i haved the same questions u do tho
if ur at 12, ur lord cant see if they are at 3 before u decide to make a lord or not, and u cant protect ur expo without hatching bottom of ur ramp, so u basically lord, then, if u see terran at 3, u pool and gas right away and try to ling lurker as hard as u can and play it from there. at 3 u can see if they are building near their ramp or scouting first, and you can take your expo with ur hatch, as long as you finish an extractor there before the hatch to expand the creep. the other spots u can just put the hatch there and ur fine.
12 hatch 11 pool is the standard but it's vulnerable to some rushes and shit depending on the spots, thats what u gotta figure out. if you get owned by a cheese u have to figure out what u wanna do and which spots it applies to. basically making ur hatch there a little sooner will let the creep be there sooner which means u can get a colony there sooner. if you try to pool first instead u have to make 6 lings at once and then probably 2 more because your expo hatch wont hvae creep in time so no sunken, u are forced to make a lot of lings and it really doesnt hurt the terran at all. u probably should never need to do this on temple except 12/3 3/12.
so, besides those points, u need to drone scout at a good time and use ur lords wisely that way u always see if an scv is going to scout you or not. u get 1 sunken unless ur pretty sure they arent making any rines or whtaever which is like impossible most likely. if ur scouting with a drone early like 8 or 9 you can take their gas and at least see if their gas is early, which means they are going to have less rines cuz they are prolly going faster aca or fac before aca.
i think the key is that u get a sunken started asap and u have a drone scout/lords in good position to rule out the bs, and then ur goal is basically to get as much money as possible. the reason 1 sunk is so worth it is because it only costs u one larva whereas the proper amount of lings, while maybe less minerals, cost many larvas, which means way less drones at this point.
oh yeah, and also u need to react right if your scout sees anything. if an scv is coming you better be killing it with 5-6 drones and if you cant, you better be killing tghat first marine that's rallied behind him, and then the next, and the next. if you think your sunken is gonna die then start 2 instead of 1 to fend off a bunker (if it comes to that). cuz once you stop whatever pressure they tried, u are still gonna be pumping out the drones and getting a fast lair regardless so u can pressure them with muta or lurk and then take another expo and try to get big while keeping them as small as u can.

Don't be a pussy, always expo at 12 drones, and pool. Don't make zerglings until you need to chase out scout scv. Fight off any initial threats with drones get a sunk fast. A single sunk can stop A LOT of early marines(without medics) if you use your drones to attack them and keep them from going up the ramp into your base, you might lose like one drone but you'll probably kill a lot more marines.
*edit* Or if you want to be a bad mother fucker make a few more drones before putting up a pool =P

In zvp I do 12 hatch ramp 11 pool, unless I scout them fast and notice a tech or late gates, in that case I expand.
In zvt I use 12 hatch exp 11 pool, but I scout when my 9th drone is completed, so I can see soon enough if he bunkerrushes. I can take necessary requirements then. In 12/3 ZvT when I'm on 3, I do 11 hatch 10 pool. If he tries bunkerring, he'll fail if you use your drones well. If I'm on 12 I mostly 9 pool, and do a 3 hatch build after. If he's on 3, 9 pool can win you the game if you manage to hide your lord, and it's safe too if you don't waste your lings when you see you can't do damage.

Twisted, you really shouldn't be talking about strategy when you know nothing about it.
myaccountmessup just 4 pool, it's a guaranteed win.
|
Yeah Twisted, stop it with the "strategy mumbo jumbo". 4 Pool 4 lyfe

rofl Hi Chobohobo

only 9 if you think they will 7 rax prox

Just in case any of you ARE actually thinking about a 4 pool, 5 pool is just as fast as 4 pool, and it gets you better eco incase (god forbid) your rush fails ^^;;

what twisted said.
9 pool variations is good on wgt coz a lot of terrans there can only cheese and nothing else.

4 pool, make 3 drones, then lings -> gets less than 6 lings faster 4 pool, make 2 drones, then lings -> gets 6-8 lings fast 4 pool, make 1 drone, then lings -> gets 10 lings faster 4 pool, no more drones, then lings -> gets 12 lings faster 4 pool, 1 drone, 1 overlord, then lings -> gets 14-22 lings faster
beyond that, a hatch first (7 or 8) build is better lings.
problem with these builds: once opponent knows ur doing it, he can be conservative and ur screwed cuz not enough eco or gas, unless u hurt him way more than u should be able to. u cant afford to drone scout with these builds either. they suck.

5 pool is as fast as 4 pool now, and it gives you 2 extra drones and still the same amount of lings
|
5pool is thank you

i like to wait till i get 150 minerals then i build three drones , then i cancel one then i wait till the next two are almost done and cancel another one , then i kill the newly build drone with my other four and build a pool , this build will win u any game.
